With almost 4 years and 80,000 miles under its belt, My Travato has proven to be a life-changing experience for us. We have traveled all but a couple of different states in the US and made many great friends and memories. We had a couple of minor adjustments that needed to be made in the first month or two of ownership, and virtually no problems since then. The couple minor issues we HAVE had were handled quickly and without charge by Winnebago or its suppliers. I think I have invested $60.00 in "repairs and replacements" since purchase (a switch and an LP regulator). Winnebago has earned a loyal repeat customer with me.

Would I buy it again? Mixed, but lean towards no!
I’ve owned a Winnebago Travato since July 2023. Overall, it’s been a good van in terms of layout and concept, but ownership has come with more friction than I expected—especially once the warranty period ended.
WHAT'S GOOD!
The layout is excellent. It’s one of the best-designed van interiors out there, and the lithium battery system in place of a generator is a big win. Quiet, efficient, and well-suited for how many people actually use these vans. When things work, the Travato is comfortable, functional, and easy to live with.
Early ownership experience:
The first year to year-and-a-half involved several issues, which is fairly typical for RVs. Warranty work was handled by NIRV in Las Vegas and, to their credit, they typically did a solid job addressing problems that came up. That said, it was still a fair amount of downtime and coordination during what should be the “honeymoon” period.
Manufacturer support (the real issue):
Winnebago’s responsiveness has been very slow, and once the warranty expired, support became almost non-existent. Parts availability and clear guidance are a real problem. Requests often go unanswered or lead nowhere, and there’s very little ownership support once you’re out of warranty.
Chassis / RAM dealer warning:
Be aware that many RAM dealers are reluctant to perform warranty work on the vehicle side. Several dealers consider the van “altered” once Winnebago has done their conversion, which can lead to denied or delayed service even for legitimate chassis-related issues. This can be frustrating and time-consuming.
**Important warning about windows / parts support:
One major concern prospective buyers should know about: a factory-installed side window failed on my van after about three years. I discovered that both Winnebago and the window manufacturer no longer supply replacement parts for that window. The only manufacturer-supported solution is a full window replacement, which is extremely expensive—even though the window itself is otherwise fine and only small components failed.
There is no clear interim safety guidance and no reasonable repair path using original parts. This is a serious planning and support failure, and something buyers should factor in, especially given the cost of the vehicle.
Bottom line... the Travato is a well-designed van with a great layout and modern electrical system, but ownership requires patience and a tolerance for poor post-warranty support. If you’re comfortable handling issues yourself, navigating parts shortages, and advocating hard for service, it can still be a good rig. If you expect strong manufacturer backing long-term, be cautious and go in with eyes open.

I purchased a used Winnebago Travato about a year ago. It has been so much fun to travel in it with my two dogs! This was my choice because it has a "wet" shower, a Murphy bed, and a "puzzle bed" which is created with cushions from the dinette, the settee that is over the lithium battery box, and the table. I keep it in bed mode all the time so they're comfortable and can look out the windows. The kitchen is compact but enough. The fridge is fairly large for this size rig, and has a separate freezer below it. The lithium battery is powered by solar panels on the roof, and converts the power to a standard battery. Storage is always lacking in a camper van, but Winnebago made use of every available space! It has a two-bike rack, which I removed it since I don't take a bike. Automatic deploy/retract awning with LED lights, and LED lights under the van. Fun stuff! Lots of USB ports, 120v outlets and such. The TV is over the dinette on a swivel. The cab seats swing around to face the dinette. The priorities for me were the second sleeping space, the shower, and the quality; I am very happy with my choice!

We owned this model of Winnebago Travato (59G) for three years. During the time we took several trips to the Carolina mountains and visited family and friends. We took one extended trip to California and Utah. During this time the vehicle performed extremely well under all conditions. We added external Thule storage pods and a tie down grid to the pre existing Fiamma factory roof rack. We also added a swing arm hitch mounted pod for the grill and chairs. This allowed more internal room for multiple family members. There are also two bike racks and a rack attachment for Kayak. The ease of maneuverability with a van type vehicle cannot be underestimated. It can be parked on a city street or campground. The turning radius is similar to an SUV. Camping off grid is no problem provided you check ground clearance. It is not a global expedition vehicle but does allow you to get off the beaten path and enjoy the scenic byways.

We owned this RV for 3 years, and went all over the Western US and up through Canada. We drove it on skinny roads, rough roads and a few freeways, although we liked taking the back roads instead. We recommend this type of RV for couples who don't want to rough it in a tent anymore. It has all the conveniences of a large RV, just not as much capacity :). We can boondock for up to 4 days without needing to dump the tanks. We updated the shower to a cloth - fast drying curtain in a slide, love it!!!!! Our Lithium batteries have made it really boondock friendly!!! We find it very easy to drive and the front window has the best view.
We found Winnebago to be too proprietary and not willing to share part numbers. My husband is a licensed mechanic, and prefers not to have others work on his vehicles. Down to the number for the bike rack it was nearly impossible to get a good part number to buy items.
I think if you want to drive and camp a Travato 59K is a perfect option for a couple or a single too!!!

At 21 ft long, 6’ 9” wide, getting to where the action is makes this vehicle a popular choice among travel enthusiasts who like the freedom of traveling where the bigger rigs cannot go. Parking in tight spots is no problem and the backup camera adds additional safety.
Dry camping is a breeze with the 215 watt solar panels, ONAN 2800 micro quiet generator, LP gas tank and Truma furnace/ water heater. The 13 foot electric awning with LED lights will keep you cool and add lots of outdoor space to your camping experience.
Or hook up at your favorite RV park, state park or National Park with the 30amp service.
Starting from the back of the van you will find a wet bath,
plenty of storage in a closet, underbed storage and overhead storage bins above the Twin beds. Toward the front is the kitchen with overhead storage pantry bins, a 2 cooktop gas burner stove, a convection microwave oven with toaster rack, storage drawers and an ample refrigerator /freezer. Stored tray tables slide out and cab seats swivel around to make a comfortable seating area.

I bought this motorhome, my Mini Gem, in June 2020 at Motor Home Specialists in Alvarado Texas. My only other RV experience was a 3-week rental of a Winnebago Travato earlier in 2020. I have had many small problems and a couple of big problems with my Gemini (Mercedes Benz chassis) since purchase, but I love my motorhome, and am working with Thor to make my Gem everything I hoped it would be when I made the big investment as a 50 recent widow. I need to send out words of praise to Kayla Tee who monitors the Gemini/Compass Facebook group and steps in to offer assistance whenever she feels the group is not completely sufficient in their answers to other owners’ questions. And I especially need to praise Tristen Singleton who has helped me get reimbursement from Thor for defective batteries, other warranty problems that have happened during my travels, and given me some other important answers to questions that have vexed me as a newbie. He promptly answers emails and does research to try to address my issues. I did not feel this way about Thor until I made these two important connections, but as of this day, Kayla and Tristen have made my recent interactions with Thor a very “user friendly” experience, and they have my complete gratitude. I hope the executives at Thor read this review and give Kayla and Tristen big raises and lots of kudos for the goodwill they are generating for Thor by being excellent company representatives.

I have the 59K twin bed model which works out great as I am single and can take a friend with me. The bathroom, though small is accomodating at the rear of the van, plenty of room on the toilet. Winnebago builds a storage panel into the unit where you can keep your hoses, cords, etc. painlessly and within reach. Included is also a small wardrobe closet with 3 drawers. The cabin itself is quite roomy with lots of overhead storage in airline type locked compartments that won't open while driving. You have your option for boondocking as everything except the ac runs off of solar, battery, or gas power. The front seats spin around to 2 tray tables for eating or drinks while watching the tv which swivels for bed or seated viewing. Included is a full size table that installs between the 2 beds but we never use it. The sliding door has a screen built in for cooler weather and the ceiling has a powered truma vent to move fresh air inside the unit. I am averaging 15-17 mpg over 27000 miles in my gas V6 engine. There are only 2 things that I wish were different but it's hard to accomplish in such a small space. There is no exterior storage is one. The other is the fridge is really small and cannot accomodate a gallon of milk or even half gallon bottle unless it's turned on it's side. But keep in mind you can go anywhere with this van and park in any space you would with your car or truck and in some parks it is classified as a van and not a motorhome or trailer so you can drive it places you couldn't otherwise get too. I have had several class c's and class a's and am sold on a class B now for ease of driving, parking, mileage, handling, etc.
