Hello, I just spoke with Jerald Summey about my outstanding warranty claim. I received the worst customer service. Jerald was rude and short when discussing my warranty claim. Obviously his job is to deny claims, which he does well. I have multiple cosmetic issues with my Palomini that I'd like fixed and Jerald denied them all. You certainly are going to lose a customer and I will begin letting everyone I know not to choose Palomino or Forest River for their next camper purchase. I thought I was purchasing a quality camper and did so at a quality price. I am very dissapointed in my experience with this camper and your customer service/warranty department. I plan to litter the internet with negative reviews, advising folks to stay away from Palomino and Forest River.

There are many things to like about the Palomino SS500 camper: 1. An absolutely fantastic bed. It's a full Queen-sized north-south bed that is every bit as comfortable as my bed at home. The camper comes with a remarkably comfortable mattress. 2. A well-designed, basic lay-out. 3. The camper is specifically designed for the Toyota Tacoma and similarly sized trucks. My Tacoma handles the camper very well. 4. Price. The SS500 comes with most of the things a person would want as standard equipment. There is little doubt that a Four Wheel camper is a superior product, but to outfit a Four Wheel camper with the things that come standard with a Palomino SS500 camper (stove, fridge, water heater, furnace) would nearly double the cost of the SS500. Before I bought my Palomino SS500 about Thanksgiving of 2018, I researched various options and read reviews. One of the common comments about Palomino campers was a lack of quality control in the past. However, most recent owners said that quality control has dramatically improved in recent years. However, my experience doesn't bear this out. Here are some of the problems I've experienced in the 7 months I've owned the camper: 1. Split corner pieces on the corners of the top portion of the camper, allowing water to enter, even when parked (as a previous reviewer has mentioned). 2. The cheapest possible battery. I've already had to replace it. 3. Completely inadequate stop on the fridge door to prevent it from opening while underway. I should add, however, that this is more a problem of the Dometic fridge in the camper rather than of the camper itself. 4. Leaky water connections under the sink. 5. The battery cover and ventilation hose was attached with only a single screw in place. The other four or five screws were simply missing and the cover wasn't properly seated. 5. Weather-proofing generally. I've used my camper only three times, but the strip on the upper section of the camper, the piece that seals the camper when it is closed, has come completely loose on one side. It looks like it was held in place with an utterly inadequate amount and/or type of adhesive. I had the dealer deal with problem number one (above) with very little if any improvement. Because taking the camper, which is under warranty, to the dealer requires a 140-mile round trip through heavy urban traffic, it's turned out to be easier to simply deal with the problems myself. I like the camper, but the manufacturer has definitely NOT resolved the quality control issues as of late 2018. And it's a shame because they are making and selling a great little camper. If they would provide good or even just adequate quality control, their camper would have an excellent reputation and be in high demand. I would have eagerly paid an extra $100-$200 for an adequate battery and some semblance of quality control.

I bought this camper new last June. Health issues intervened and I've decided to sell it. Inspecting it I discovered that the bathroom door had warped-- it was an inch out of line, causing the door to hit the trim at the corner and the latch did not hit the striker. I contacted the dealer and they said it would be covered under warranty, bring them the door and lots of pictures. I took pictures, removed the door and drove 2 hours to the dealership in my small truck (big truck was working out of state) to show them the door and pictures only to be told that the pictures had to be taken with THEIR camera. So I drove home with bad door. Haven't heard reply to my email to Palomino asking why my pics weren't acceptable. (Just having them ship me a replacement door would run about $200 according to the parts guy at the dealership; I'm a woodworker and would just make a better door if I were keeping it.) One other problem-- the support jacks are mounted to stick outside the body of the camper which means they block the sight lines of my Chevy 2500HD extendable rear-view mirrors. I was planning on moving the jacks (simple side-to-side swap) so they were inside the sight lines but I'm selling it because of my health.

Love the floor plan. The large shower is a huge plus for us. That is where the positives end. Landing gear problems three times the first year resulting in replacing everything except the legs themselves. The second year we had to have four of the six legs rebuilt as they were jammed or had broken their shear pins. The dealer was no help. The black tank coupler in the belly of the unit came loose and was dripping waste into the belly of the unit. They cut open the the belly to fix the leak and only taped the opening instead of a more permanent fix. The coupling worked loose again a year later so I took it to an RV repair shop instead of the dealer. The black tank valve does not seal tight and therefore you get a big surprise when you remove the waste cap to attach the hose. I have had a gate installed on the waste pipe so I don't get any more surprises. The third year The brakes worked loose and ruined the the backing plate. The second year I noticed a bulge in the fiberglass at the bottom right of the bedroom slide. Fought with the dealer to address the issue. It was finally addressed by sending the unit back to the factory to have it fixed. It turned out to be a broken frame and pressure on the exterior wall causing the bulge. The floor in the kitchen area in front of the sink and stove are soft and feel like they will give way. I had the dealer look to see if there was any water leak causing the issue. The dealer said nothing looks water damaged. Since I had issues with he dealer I then took the unit to an RV repair shop and he confirmed no water damage. It turns out, after research on line, this is a known issue. (https://www.forestriverforums.com/forums/f96/palomino-columbus-320-soft-floor-124438.html) The dealer will not address the issue and Forest River/Palomino will not return my calls on this. The third year again I inspected the roof half way through the season. There were several cracks in the bathroom skylight around the screws that fasten it to the roof and up into the skylight dome. The dealer said the warranty was expired and the extended warranty would not cover it. Two of the dual day/night roll up shades quit rolling up and are not useable. The two largest windows. The replacements are $235 and $275. This unit has been the biggest piece of crap I have ever purchased! I will never buy another Forest River product!

We have owned our puma palomino since July 16th of this year and we now have had so many issues it’s crazy !!! Started with the skylights leaking paid 400 for immediate service called Forrest river to ask who to send the invoice to got zero positive response. This was only after campers inn told us to send it to them and they will submit it to Forrest river!! Our camper door was so tight on the hinges it was nearly impossible to freely open and close the door. I then pulled all hinge screws one by one and adjusted them. This did very little then I noticed how tightly wrapped the pressed steel hinges were on the hinge pins, after noticing this and it taking me well over and hour to dissect this issue and tons of WD40 and a modified screwdriver to pin inside the hinges and more or less pry them open to get the door freely moving other wise it was about to rip right out of the door frame. Now last night I put waters into my outside kitchen fridge and it was hot and freezer was melting!! We now have done a fair bit of research and also being way under informed over the heat issues it may take on while being in Florida the fridge over heated and crapped out on us now another 160 to 200$ out of pocket expense !!! FUCKEN GREAT !!! Finally there are five people in my family and after I night of showers we noticed a massive amount of water pouring out of the bathroom and tried to figure out where it was coming from, after tons of digging and searching the tub and tub surround and under the surround plumbing I noticed the caulking was peeling off the base of the surround so badly. This is where the crazy leaking was coming from!! I did more trouble shooting sealed the bases to the walls and leaked kept happening, more trouble shooting took place and had to be done in the dark to see clearly while using a high powered flash light to see the areas and see possible crack and voids only to notice many more on the shower door area along where it was fastened to the shower stall Base. It was leaking everywhere so finally I caulked the entire door area near the base and found many leaking cracks. Once I got all the cracks sealed the leaked stopped!!! Almost forgot we hooked up the water on the site and my bathroom sink was also leaking and we have very little water pressure where we are staying. Have yet to trouble shoot this issue as there is so much stuff to move and take faucet off ! THIS IS A BRAND NEW 2023 CAMPER PUMA PALOMINO MADE BY FORREST RIVER and we’re not satisfied one bit over this or these added cost and I highly doubt based off of our first encounter with this company on the phone we will continue to spend money when this stuff should by all means be covered under warranty !!! We have used this camper for 2 weeks and have had this many failures and I’m scared shit as to what could possibly go wrong next !!!!!
