My 22MLE has a problem with the safety chains. Because of the poorly designed way of attaching them to the trailer, the chains are held in a bind and are over halfway eaten through. Grand design is trying to blame it on my E4 hitch, but my hitch head doesn’t have a mark on it. I spoke with Josh at GD, and he was pretty crappy about it. Not what i expected after dropping those kinds of dollars. Grand Design, as a company, sucks. Zero customer service. I have no choice but to buy new chains and have them properly attached to the trailer so this can’t happen. Just another thing the NTSB should be asking them about. We love our TT, but this sorry customer no service makes me wish we’d spent that money elsewhere. I don’t like learning that I’ve partnered with company that gives the middle finger to its customers. Grand Design Imagine XLS 22mle owners beware. Check your chains. It’s not just the 22MLE, as we have friends who have a larger GD, and they have the same problem expect their chain is almost completely chewed through. We purchased our GD Imagine 2500RL in March of 2017. Shortly after we took a 5500 mile trip thru the western states and Canada. The RV was great and so very comfortable. Since we have had our GD Imagine we have had recalls on certain areas of our RV. Problems repairing the recalls were only at the local dealers. At this time I want to give special thanks to the people at Grand Design. These people are: Paul Laux, Tara Michen, and Mike Rogers. When problems arose the mentioned personnel when contacted would respond within hours and would help solve the problem immediately. Thank you all for beig there when we needed you. I definitely recommend a Grand Design to anyone.

I bought my Grand Design 27MAV RV excited to camp in all sorts of weather. But one shocking flaw has soured the experience – the factory-installed Solera 3000 Lippert awning. The first time it rained, water pooled on the fabric because the design doesn’t allow it to run off. Within minutes, the weight bowed the arms and destroyed the awning. When I asked for help, Grand Design told me the awning “wasn’t meant for rain” == only as a sunshade. Imagine that: a camping RV that can’t handle rain on its awning! If you’re considering Grand Design, know this upfront: you’ll either need to avoid using the awning in rain (completely impractical), or pay out-of-pocket for a sturdier replacement.

PRIOR OWNERSHIP OF THE GRAND DESIGN TRAILER HAS PRESENTED MINOR ISSUES SUCH AS: WATER PUMP, THERMOSTAT, CIRCUIT BOARD ON WATER HEATER, PROPANE REGULATOR. NOTHING THAT SHUT ME DOWN THAT I COULD NOT REPAIR OR GO TO PLAN B. LITTLE WATER LEAK AT KITCHEN WINDOW, EASY FIX. IN THE MARINES WE LEARN TO ADAPT, IMPROVISE, AND OVERCOME! I HAVE SOLD MY PREVIOUS UNITS TO MY WORKERS AND THEY STILL HAVE THEM! THE TWO BEST PRODUCTS OF GRAND DESIGN ARE THE XLS SERIES AND THE REFLECTION SERIES. BIG TRAILERS=BIG PROBLEMS! LITTLE TRAILERS=LITTLE PROBLEMS! LIKE WITH KIDS!

I really like the floor plan of this unit. However on our first trip after purchasing the unit in June 2019 the furnace went out on our way to Arizona. After arriving in Arizona, I spent numerous hours on the phone with Grand Design trying to get the furnace repaired. We were in Phoenix and experiencing the coldest December with record lows. I was told by Grand Design that we would have to take the unit to Mesa, Arizona for repairs. Grand Design said they would not pay for a mobile repair. I ended up calling LaMesa RV who is certified to repair the furnace and they sent out their mobile unit. LaMesa service department said they would deal with Grand Design and repaired our furnace as night temperatures were in the low 30’s. We received better customer service from an RV dealer who does not sell Grand Design then we did from Grand Design. Now we have a problem with the rollers on our number one slide and have to continuously stay in contact with our local Blue Dog dealer to get the repairs done. The dealer has to send pictures to Grand Design to have the repairs approved. The approval process for warranty work at Grand Design is an extremely slow process. I spent over two weeks calling daily to get the furnace repairs approved so I can only imagine how long this is going to take to get the approval to repair the rollers on our number one slide. We have been RVing for 30 years, this is our first and last Grand Design RV. It’s going up for sale in the Spring. I would not recommend Grand Design based on their poor customer service when needing repairs while the unit is stills under warranty warranty.

Tankless water heater for continuous hot water. An 18” apartment size dishwasher built into the island. Pantry pullouts top and bottom. 2nd TV in the bedroom. This RV has had light use. We have just decided at our age not to RV anymore.

I shopped around a lot. Found the Grand design imagine and fell in love with it. Great floor plan. Beautiful interior. I bought it. Perfect. Well it was great until I used it the first time. It had many problems. From the holding tank valve not closing completely and taking off the cap to hook up the sewer. I took a bath with waste water. The slide is so loud you cannot hear each other talk while operating it. There are many problems. HERES my problem. We purchased it on June 16, 2022. Used it one time and have not been able to use it again. Its still in the shop and now its August 2022. And its still going to be a while until its completed. The shop RV COUNTRY in Buckley is where it sits. They are still waiting for approval/authorization to complete the warranty work. Here in Washington state we dont get much of a summer. Its almost over and I have a $60,000 trailer that I cant use. Im very disappointed with the GRAND DESIGN IMAGINE RL 2970 trailer. Please read up on it before buying.

Do not walk, RUN to a different manufacturer to purchase an RV. we've had so many problems with our 2018 Imagine 3170BH its impossible to detail them all here. Our biggest complaints are the water leaks causing mold growth and electrical problems. We've never had electricity in the outdoor kitchen and now have had so many problems with the heating/furnace that it has become become necessary to have a second thermostat just to run the furnace. These Rv's are poorly constructed and are fire hazards due to the electrical issues. Grand Design has never been responsive nor has the dealer. We've given up trying to work with either so absolutely can not recommend buying any of Grand Design models. These RV'S cost a higher premium so buy something less expensive, it will be even more economical in the long run.

We had another camper we loved but it had a design flaw that caused the slideout to eat the seal. Water got in our underbelly and the compressed styrofoam floor disintegrated. We fixed the one side and $7500 later, our repair guy told us the other side was getting ready to go too. We asked for recommendations on a good quality built camper and away we went shopping. Our guy told us what to look for so we knew exactly what we wanted to avoid the same expensive heart sickening situtation again, shout out to Gunner RV repair in Beebe, AR. That guy is awesome. We chose the Grand Design Imagine because we loved the floor plan and the lighter color of the interior as well as the superior design of the slideout. It is gear driven, much sturdier and a better thought out design than our previous camper's chain driven slideout. Right away we could tell that our new camper was of a much higher quality in workmanship. Although we lost the huge pantry of the other camper, we had a ton more storage. It took me a minute to get used to the cubbies in the bathroom for the towels and wash clothes. It hasn't been a problem though and again, we have way more organized storage in the bathroom than we ever did with the old camper. We also have way more organized storage in the underbelly than before. The ONLY thing I have missed is not having a broom closet inside the camper. We can store the mop bucket under the roomy cabinet under the sink but there's nowhere to stow my mop and broom inside where it's convenient. We were just sick when our camper had it's seal blowout because we're getting ready to retire very soon. Our RV dealer took good care of us. It's important to have a good relationship with a dealer you can trust, shout out to MOIX RV in Conway, AR. We have a much better quality camper with a well thought out design and superior workmanship and we only owe a little more on it. The Grand Design Imagine is a win in our book and we came out of a nightmare situation smelling like a rose. Thanks Grand Design!
