Have run this unit for almost 2 years now. Have made several long trips and been in it for several weeks at a time with it. So, Pros first. Good overall interior lighting. Fridge is good size. A handy second fridge in front storage. Bathroom fan switch is on the wall. The bathroom fan vent (switch is also on the wall) is power open. Both items are a no brainer. A solid door to rear bunk area is way better than a curtain. Windows are a good size in most areas, the tint helps keep sun heat out on those hotter days. Cons: All vents on the roof (bathroom, bedroom) should come with covers. I could not believe they did not have covers. They had to be the first thing added. Exterior needs another receptacle (on a different circuit) closer to the rear of the unit. No one uses a coffee maker at the front. Should have better exterior lights around the entry. The exterior access for the garbage can is too small. Storage setup is a huge waste of space. To access water setup for winterizing, you have to take a wall apart? As in figure out which screws are needed to remove a wall. A lot of wasted space under this area. This needs a rethink. While it is obvious that the faster you manufacture one, the more money you make. Several electrical fixtures were loose, the first time I plugged the unit in, it would not charge the batteries. By a fluke I found a loose connection under the interior steps. The entire electrical system needs better attention to quality. My fireplace was pushing out in one corner, I took it out and found so much excess wire behind it. I cut out about 4 - 6 feet from most of the wires. What a waste. Now to enter the unit, the four step solid steps are too heavy for smaller people to lift, they should have the easy step. It needs a better kitchen table and seating setup. The seats had drop down flaps to under seat storage that was useless and not accessible. I made slide out drawers to be useable. It needs another useable receptacle in the kitchen area. Why is a receptacle behind the garbage access? The TV is mounted on a chase just inside the main entry, it was so poorly installed that most of it came apart after one trip. I had to take it entirely apart and rebuild it to be secure. However this was simply part of the entire interior trim that was so poorly installed and many areas just not finished . I spent 8 hours just repairing or securing interior finishes. Overhead doors should come with a hold open hinge. The rear bunk area should have an operable window. The bathroom door is installed in a way that makes it awkward to get in to the room. The master bedroom needs more footroom around it. The bedroom closet slideout needs to be deeper. The heating vent design make the master bedroom and bathroom extremely warm, the lower areas are still subzero. Overall, the layout needs a bit more planning. Panel behind arm rail separated from the studs. Forest River riverstone did nothing... absoteuly nothing. By far one of the worst purchasing experiences in my adult life. L couches seemed cool, but was extremely uncomfortable. Nicks and dings in so many places on what was the frost paint job. For a 18k paint job was already needing repainted and had a flame flex issue. When the panel fell off I filed a BBB complaint again Forest River. The rep said it's the dealers fault and declined to work with the BBB further. Waste of me registering, running my credit, and down payment. Dealership bought it back because I hired a lawyer but was also ready to let me get screwed over. My family and children's children will never buy a forest river product again. Rust, missing blinds, leaking in the storage area from the bathroom. One of the most poorly connected units I have stepped in. Slumnersloth is terribly ugly as well. Show less

Nordic Fridge broke in first 5 days. Trim all over coming loose. Outside of bedroom slide separating from top piece. Gaps between slide mechanism and wall letting light in. Will clealrly let bugs and rodents in. Tv not mounted level. Washer Dryer unit door already sagging and bent. Wood valances uneven and need tightened. Trim above toy hauler door and seem tape all ripped and jagged. Ball that goes to hidden section behind TV rolled away during the drive home. Walls around base of garage are already starting to stain from... standard garage use. I have not even loaded a side by side yet. Edges of framless windows has peeling tint. Counter in bathroom not solid surface, thats where you needed it. Show less

** BUYER BEWARE ** To ANYONE looking to purchase a KEYSTONE MONTANA 5th WHEEL, please BEWARE!! We have experienced our THIRD CATASTROPHIC SUSPENSION FAILURE on our Keystone Montana 3790RD 5th wheel which involved the leaf springs snapping for the THIRD time, which then caused the second axle on the unit to be forcefully jammed up into the the chassis causing significant damage to the underbelly of our unit, along with CUTTING OUR BREAK LINES causing us to lose the brakes on our trailer while going down an overpass on a highway. We have been informed by the repair shop that we are EXTREMELY lucky there was not a fatality and that if they repair it, the chances of it happening again are EXTREMELY high and just a matter of time until there is a fatality with the unit. We tried reaching out to Keystone RV and Thor Industries via letter, and all we received was an extremely rude call from the VP of Service Operations, Garrett Carolis, telling us our request for assistance was not warranted and that our letter was an "extremely unrealistic expectation and will not happen." He also said that Keystone RV will NOT financially assist in anyway and that we are "absurd" for even asking. Keystone is also fully aware that I had a PICC line in my arm for IV medication and we were stranded on the side of the road for over 6 hours because of their manufacturing defects. We are still stranded, and have been for almost 2 weeks, in the town we were passing through when the incident happened because the repairs are now up to $10,000 and with the safety warning of taking it back on the road, we are extremely concerned. We just want to make sure ANYONE LOOKING TO BUY A KEYSTONE MONTANA 5th WHEEL is aware of what happened to us and the absolute NIGHTMARE we are dealing with because of the terrible manufacturing of our KEYSTONE MONTANA 5th WHEEL. The whole experience from purchasing it custom made from the dealer to Grand Design customer service is beyond horrible! It is literally not well made no responses to warranty work! Still have no hot water as the component caught fire 7 months ago and they will not send us a new one, pot lights falling off not working. When it was made they punctured water lines so had a flood still waiting for parts after 1 1/2 years so basically paid $170,000 for a live in trailer that is not liveable. Will be advising everyone not to purchase an RV from Grand Design as you might as well burn your retirement away! Tried several times to get this resolved with them but no reply so BEWARE!! We bought this 42 ft. Fifth wheel brand new at Camper World Riverton Utah. I bought every warranty and extended warranty I could get because I know the quality of most of them. What I didn't realize is that if you need any warranty work it needs to go to the dealer and sit for days or weeks to get a repair and your stuck in a hotel. Even with the DIY program couldn't be any worse for the customer. Our main electrical 50 amp cord shorted out and burned and melted the connection on a Sunday. I went to the hardware store and bought a new plug to get us going. The camper World asked for pictures which I had taken before removal and showed all the damage it caused only to get denied my claim because I didn't bring it in. After calling in a couple of other issues we had and being told it had to come into the dealer I just gave up. We're retired and don't beat our stuff but this rv is no better than the bottom of the line as far as I can tell we spent over $100000. and I couldn't be more disapointed. Our heater is now going out at least the bearings are squeeling. Looking back I would not have bought the best one on the lot (according to my sales snake) and bought something much less and just planned to fix it. I would have saved a ton of money. It pulls good and we like the layout the trim falls off the ceiling after we have towed it for a while so I have been repairing this as we go and it also leaks when we get a solid rain. I wanted to show the wiring under the rig. There is NO pride in the workat all! Show less

Purchased new in March 2025, used for a couple of months. Been at RV dealership since October 28,2025 with minor warranty repairs needed. Not sure if it’s the manufacturer or the dealership but it’s January 8,2026 and no parts yet. We love the floorplan, storage, and features. Doubt I will buy another KZ or from same dealership. Just want my RV back. Show less

I always had Montanas Bought this new Used 2 weeks before lost wife Srove slid out bring home smashed glass they replaced but I had to pay $500 for installation. When CamOne circuit had a broken wire no power. in a receptial. When camping world replaced the stove they lost my electric cord they gave me a used one. Kiction door wouldn't stay shut. Said they fixed it When I opened the slide out it caught the open door ruined it and slide does not come all the way out now. They sent me a new door. Refrigerator doesn't work. Wire behind TV connection striped like it was pulled off. Water is dripping outside under the kitchen sink. Only used 2 weekends until this year 2025. What a hunk of sxxt I would say stay away from any of their products. Oh the warranty. They said we gave you a stove that's all we going to do. Show less

Great floor plan , no issues with rv . Great value easy to tow.like the two ac units, bedroom is a great size for size of rv. The solar and the slide toppers are great additions . Would like to have had better tires something I will upgrade. Selling dealer was a pleasure to deal with from sales to PDI process. I would recommend this rv. Show less

I did research before I bought this and it was one of the top of the line very well-made travel trailers. I bought this travel trailer during the aftermath of Covid when everything was on backorder, etc. and apparently they have been making these with junk inside them. Both of my furry on air conditioners did not work as they should. One of them had the Freon run out so I replaced both of them with a Coleman Mach. The refrigerator microwave and most everything is Furrion and made in China. My microwave is having issues and my refrigerator since I bought it has an issue with the compressor and it makes a very loud rattling noise every time it tries to cool off. Now that could’ve been just installation of said item, but everything seems to be quickly made with cheap equipment. They would not even reimburse me for replacing my air conditioners because I didn’t take it in to have that looked at when I had already had them checking on the AC why it wasn’t reading the temperature on multiple visits. So in addition to this no longer being a reliable brand, their warranty is crap also. Stay away from this brand. Show less
