BUYER BEWARE! I purchased a brand new RV for La Mesa RV. Their service department is atrocious. After months upon months of the run around for my warranty issue I started digging into their reputation. I was horrified to see that La Mesa RV has a "D- " rating at the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. They treat their customers horribly.
I didn't know about this when I bought my RV, but I wish I had.
In my opinion & experience, they don't care about you or your RV, or issues you are having. They only care about the money they can extract from you at the time of sale.
DO NOT be pressured into buying their EXTENDED WARRANTY. They pretty much won't let you out of their sales department without purchasing their extended warranty. High pressure calling & calling our home, after we said no. We finally buckled when they reduced the interest rate on the loan to offset the cost. As usual, the extended warranty is pretty much worthless. It's just a huge cash cow for them.
Here's what happened to us for a simple $200 repair on an RV with less than 4000 miles ( know that the first 2500 miles were from the drive from factory to San Diego~ that were already on the rig at the time of purchase).
They raked us over the coals for 5 months to avoid a simple repair to replace a bad battery. We have barely used the RV. In Feb 2022 we paid for service call to our home and the tech Steven confirmed the battery was not working properly. It was not holding a charge. They did nothing, said they would get back to us. In April, after several calls, he came back again to double check it AGAIN? Still not holding a charge. They tried to charge a second $150 fee to recheck the same problem. Didn't fix it either time~(we have a 3 year/36,000 miles warranty) After this had to make dozens of calls/messages left with Maryanne and Ronnie to follow up. Nothing, no resolution.
After the run around of the century, (Feb-July 2022) I contacted the service manager, Mike. I explained to Mike that I had just fallen out of the RV in a crumpled heap in the driveway because the battery was DEAD and the step didn't come out properly. I am 66 years old! I told him I had been getting the run around for 5 months from his service department. He promised to help us replace the bad battery with the help of Brandon at Ford. Could it be? They were actually going to fix this? Read on......
When I called to follow up a week later, I was told by "Jason". That the service manager, Mike had "900 other emails and phone calls to deal with" and we just need to take care of this ourselves at a Ford Dealership Huh? This after 2 service calls to our home~ $150 per visit, dozens of phone calls and waiting 5 months. And Mike promising to take care of this? Really?
We also sent an email to Jayco Corporate, service department ~ that was ignored.
Let me say this AGAIN! La Mesa RV and their service center don't care how many messages you leave, how many times you talk to someone about resolving an issue. They don't care how much they inconvenience you or waste your time. Honestly, it seems they are just waiting for you to go away. They don't even care if you get hurt because of their negligence.
This wasn't the first issue with the service department. We first purchased the brand new RV, there were some other issues, so we made an appt. Two of us had to drive out to El Cajon, leave the RV, drive home. They told us it would just be a few days. Ten days later, we called to check and they told us they didn't have time to look at it~ and didn't know when they would. Why bother to make an appointment? No updates, no communication whatsoever. Waste our time and drove 70 miles/ 2 round trips for nothing. We decided to just live with the issues. Drawers flying out while driving, shop debris left under the flooring when it was manufactured, the bed was not pulling out properly, loose backsplash tile around stove, mushy floor around shower drain) A poorly made RV by Jayco, but that's another story.
At the end of the day, we realized the hard way, they don't care about anything but selling you an RV. They don't care about their own reputation, service or their customers. That's pretty obvious by their BBB rating and the way they treated us. Reviews show hundreds of times they could have done the right thing, but decided it was easier to take the low road.
They have 8 or 9 locations, ALL with horrible reviews.
