** WORST RV PURCHASE EVER ** This is my 3rd RV, (2 from McClains And now this Forest River Sabre from Fun Town). I purchased this Supposed state of the art fifth wheel unit with the side patio at the cowboy stadium event back in April 2025. This unit was the number one hit at our first RV outings with several of our camping groups. In 12 calendar months, we have only been able to use this unit three times. After each outing with the unit, there were problems and issues with the unit and after all three outings, we would IMMEDIATELY take the unit back to fun town RV in Cleburne, Texas. With the first & 2nd Repairs in April 2025, it took approximately four months for all repairs to eventually be completed, (To be fair, they did allow me to come pick the unit up for a weekend event we had previously scheduled, and I immediately brought it back for the repairs to be completed). Those repairs were eventually completed August 9, 2025. We made our third trip in the trailer, to Galveston, Texas the last week of December, 2025 and departed the RV park January 6th 2026, where we immediately drove from Galveston, Texas to Cleburne Texas to drop the unit off because of, once again, breakdowns and issues with the unit. The unit had several issues, but, the main primary issue was a defective black tank that needed to be replaced. With this issue and all the previous issues where it took them so long to repair, the fun town dealership kept encouraging me to reach out to Forest River so that I, the customer, could have them speed up the approval process and the sending out of the parts process because, fun town said that’s what they were waiting on. I was basically put in the middle and forced to try and be my own advocate & facilitator to get my RV unit repaired between fun town and Forest River. As of today, April 16, 2026, my unit is still at the fun town dealership. They did receive the black tank two weeks ago, but, it still has not been installed. I was initially told, several months ago, that when the tank comes in, I would be made priority and they would rush my unit in to get it fixed and that it should only take about five hours. I contacted the service manager yesterday, Andrew Allegra, and he advised my unit has been in the shop for eight days, but that, he could not understand why it has not been completed yet. He advised me that he would get on it today and he apologized about the delay and he advised that he will check into the reason why it has taken so long. With my unit being in the shop for so long, my one year Unlimited warranty ran out last week. Fun town advise that I should reach out to Forest River to see about them extending my warranty since my trailer has been in the shop for OVER six months of the 12 months, I have owned it. I just contacted Forest, Rive, owners relation department, and spoke with a representative there by the name of Miss Randy. I advise her of the situation and am requesting an additional six months of unlimited warranty for my unit since I have only used it three times and it has been in the shop for over six months of the 12. She advised me that she will speak with her boss today and call me back with an answer. With this last repair where the unit was dropped off January 6, 2026, these last 3 months has been so frustrating and inconvenient. We have missed so many camping outings, holiday outings, etc. because the unit that I am paying for, is not available to me. I have made 3 trailer payments, I have made 3 RV storage unit Payments, I have paid insurance for 3 months, but, I have not had any use of this unit. Unfortunately, I am locked in, contractually, to this unit until I pay it off. However, I will never buy again, nor would I ever recommend again to anyone that they purchase a RV unit from Fun town and also Forest River. Both companies are so unaccommodating when it comes to taking care of the customer post purchase. What we are told and promised pre-purchase, does not match the care we will get post purchase. I feel scammed and duped!!!!😤😤😤

So we actually had this unit built….buyer beware that Grand design will make changes to your design during construction without telling you. Specifically we wanted the color changing light feature. When unit was delivered they did not supply those and said we are out of luck that they are only installing white lighting. This is not what we ordered per our contract. They said it would now be “thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars” to redo it. So we offered to have them throw In a generator and stairs for the side patio ….which they refused. They told Blue compass ft Wayne to order cheap Amazon lights and cover the others. This is not the “thousands and thousands and thousands” they said it would cost. So we have been told to just accept their change and deal with it even though that’s not what we purchased. Just a warning for others to avoid Grand Design as they will not comply with a written contract.

We purchased our 2022 Freedom Elite new from the dealer in Fort Myers. The purchase experience was awful, and the service department was twice as awful. The nightmares started when about a year into owning of this RV, we started dealing with leaks in the front portion over the Ford cockpit. Took the vehicle in and after a month sitting at the dealership, I picked up the vehicle and took it home. A few months later, we had a heavy down pour and when I went to inspect the vehicle after the rains stopped, the entire headliner, dash, driver's and passenger seat were flood. In fact, the radio was damaged from water intrusion. Took the vehicle back in and now it sat for 3 months. I personally showed them where the water intrusion was located and they confirmed the location of the problem. After picking up the vehicle, on the way back home, a two-hour drive, it was raining and to my surprise, I looked up and the headliner was getting wet. As soon as I arrived home, I striped the head liner off and notice the BS repair the dealer made. It was a worthless attempt done by apparently an amateur. I set to dehumidifiers in the cabin and that weekend; I put a new seal between the Ford cabin roof cut out and the underside of the bunk head where they join. I caulk the inside and outside of the roof cutout and added a second black rubber seal on the outside of the roof cutout. I have to say, it looks nicer that the garbage vinyl seals the factory uses. It's been a year and that was the last she ever leaked. The leaks are inherited due to poor quality, lack of workmanship and design issues, which could be easily corrected but apparently not a concern for the manufacturer as their warranty protects them from water leaks. There are 3 main leak points on the Freedom Elite. The first one is the 5 LED marker lights across the roof above the bunk head fiberglass cap. These LEDs each fit into a hole in the roof. The LED's have a rubber O-ring that is supposed to prevent water intrusion. Unfortunately, the O-rings rot from exposure to the sun and rain over time and the water enters into the front portion of the bunk bed extension behind the inner wall and works its way down the left and right bulk heads just behind the driver and passenger doors. Mold build up will be heavy and will require immediate attention. The second point of intrusion are the front left and right aluminum moldings that join the side walls to the fiberglass hood of the bunk head. Under the vinyl molding insert that covers the aluminum molding, there are self-tapping screws the Mfg. secures the molding down to the wood / aluminum super structure. We removed the vinyl molding insert and found more than half of the screws were heavily rusted and there were no caulking or seals before the screws were driven down. We even found holes with no screws. This is just lack of quality control and interest in providing the finished product. As for the 3rd issue, the rubber seal around the roof cutout of the cab as mentioned seems to be a popular problem that I have run into with other owners of the Thor product.

When I received it the 12v battery terminal nuts were run only halfway down on the studs (not even finger tight) and the water heater electric element was burned out. The frame and suspension had ten years worth of rust when it was three months old. Treated it with phosphoric acid and POR-15. There was also condensation in the running lights due to bad seals. On our first trip the cabinet doors popped open by themselves on the interstate and ended up on the floor due to the cheap catches and hinges. Upgraded the hinges and added latches. On our second trip the rear blind fell off (the heavy wood valance was held on by just 2 #6 screws put into nothing but the wallboard). Screwed them back in to the metal window frame. At some point the water pump began running continuously, pump replaced. Easily breakable refrigerator door handles. Wall outlet covers falling off. Dome light covers falling off. The awning started retracting incredibly slowly; this is a very common problem and there are a ton of complaints about it. In year two the couch broke free while driving on the interstate, and the bottoms of the rear cabinet and sink cabinets started coming apart so I had to add brackets to keep them together. The paneling around the bed box started to come off because it was held on by a few really cheap staples and no glue. The bathroom vent fan stopped working due to a bad ground. The 12v battery doesn't have much storage, on off-grid night four the heater and refrigerator stopped working (on gas) because there wasn't enough voltage (my site was ~50% shaded and the solar panel is only 100 watts). I replaced it with a couple of 6v golf cart units in series, and am planning a major upgrade to the solar capacity. In the meantime I bring a generator to boondock. The brake wiring is so short that when I jacked it up to do the brakes the wires got pulled very tight, causing a wiring fault. Now the brakes on that side don’t work and it’s been a real handful the times I’ve had to get on the brakes hard. One more thing to fix this spring. The couch is not very comfortable, but all of the aftermarket upgrades are designed for a slide that has a floor that’s at the same level as the main floor. So we’re pretty much stuck with it.

We bought this pre owned tailer in 2023. It was in storage for 3 years and had minimal use, so it was a good purchase. The floor plan is perfect for couples because it has a residential sized queen bed and plenty of storage. We love the large window's in the rear dinette and the counter space is impressive for a 20' trailer. The only thing to look out for is roof leaks at each side of the rear roof corners. The best approach is to apply Eterna Bond tape because self leveling caulking will not last very long. In fact, its best to apply this tape at every roof joint for peace of mind and less maintenance. I'm a contractor and I honestly think this is a very well built trailer. If you buy a camper you have to have realistic expectations as they are subjected to extreme conditions that can lead to minor repairs and pre-mature maintenance. There are plenty of upgrades that can be done to improve overall quality.

We purchased our Keystone cougar 25RDS travel trailer five months ago just before the winter in the month of September. We have it on our property and are staying in it while we’re renovating our house and then we’re doing some traveling. We absolutely love the floor plan and so far the people have been very nice at camping world. I’m not able to give a complete rating on factory service warranty yet because we haven’t utilize them , so The three stars is irrelevant, but it prompted me to rate in order to move forward. the issue we have is the floor appears to be weak or very giving in several places which has us very concerned, especially since it’s brand new and and with a price tag approaching 50,000 I’m shocked. We also noticed the awning appears to have wrinkles, but I’m not too concerned about it. I will be contacting camping world about the floor. I will post a follow up review review to let you know how helpful they are in the matter.

I DO NOT recommend this RV to anyone! We are now stuck with all of these unnecessary repairs.

Missing or loose screws, the refrigerator poor mounted and supported by two screws and not leveled. Undercarriage has electrical wiring with no installation as they go through the chassis and wires have no excess wire for future repairs. Loose bolts on rear tailgate, missing screw on side latter and the list goes on. Im replacing steel screws that after just 4 months showing heavy rust and replacing them with stainless steel. Over the workmanship is just not there and sad we buy these things with regret months later.

This camper is an excellent option for anyone looking for a practical, comfortable, and well-designed trailer, even for those towing with a minivan, as long as the proper precautions are taken. It is especially appealing for people who want something easy to store, simple to winterize and protect, and still spacious enough inside to feel truly comfortable. What stands out most is how well it uses its compact size. Even though it has a relatively small footprint, it feels much more like a larger camper once you are inside. The interior height is one of its best features. Because of the shape and layout, the space feels open, comfortable, and surprisingly easy to move around in. Another major advantage is that you do not have to deal with tarps or the usual hassles that often come with protecting and storing other trailers. It offers a very practical solution for winter coverage while still giving you the feeling of owning a more substantial camper. For a trailer of this size, the features are impressive. It has air conditioning, which can be difficult to find in smaller units, and it also includes a solid hot water tank. In my case, because of the high elevation where I live, a tankless water heater would not really be a practical option, so having a traditional hot water tank is a real benefit. If I could suggest one improvement, it would be the addition of an indoor shower. I believe that with just one or two extra feet in the floor plan, it could likely be incorporated. Even so, having an outdoor shower is still a valuable feature. I also think that adding a cassette toilet alongside a shower area would make this camper even more versatile and would be an outstanding upgrade. Overall, I think this is a wonderful camper. It offers a smart balance of size, comfort, and practicality, and for me, as a first camper, it has been a very satisfying purchase. I am genuinely happy with it.
