If owned one for a few years and the quality of the Volkswagen engine and the Winnebago coach are perfect.

It is the top-of-the line Airstream that at 34ft in length is spacious and comfortable.
With its Hensley Hitch and disc brakes it tows without drama and stop 75% better than trailers with factory drum brakes. Because it is so aerodynamic the tow vehicle (Duramax Diesel) gets 13.9 MPG when keeping the speed at 62MPH or below. That is fantastic mileage, as the trailer weighs between 8,500 -10,000 pounds depending on its load (water, food, and clothing etc.)
With its two Optima Blue Top Batteries, the newly converted LED lighting throughout the trailer and the two 7.5 gallon propane tanks it will keep you comfortable for a week without hook-up, even in inclement weather.
The reason it got only four stars for overall quality is because I have had to "redo" a number of items that were inadequate from production. Once I repaired them to my standards they stayed fixed. I will be happy to share everything I've done upon inquiry. This trailer needs nothing and is ready to go camping. When not in use it was stored "indoors" with full hook-up on our property. It has been extremely reliable; we never had to discontinue a trip or come home early over issues!

The RV industery is very fortunate to have the customer pay for their mistakes. We have always bragged about our Grand Designs, but not anymore. What a shame!

Drives very well. Purchased at 24,000 miles now with 36,000 miles. Had to have the living room slide repaired. It gets 7-9 miles per gallon not towing. It got pushed around by the wind and when passed by a bigger rig until I had a front stabilizer shock installed on the steering. The 30amp system won’t run both AC’s units at the same time and the ac shuts off when turning on the microwave but comes back on when microwave goes off. Has a 6.5 gas generator that will run both ac units when not plugged into site power. Sleeps 3 or more with air mattress on floor. Went on a 3 week trip with 4 adults, two children and a medium size dog with no comfort problems. Did that twice. Has an electric fireplace that actually looks real and puts out enough heat to warm living room area that’s thermostatically controlled.

Cooking on a Custom Allegro Bus, anyone ?
This RV is actually very nice and has a good selling price.
Te livability is effected by some of the customization which seems incomplete at this time.
Also the floor plan has changed a little and again it may not have reached the desired level of comfort yet but it’s still a mark down at this point.
The over-all quality is again a “not finished” item at this point, so another point off.
As far as Factory support, it may have some kind of extended transferable plan but it’s not mentioned so being a 2002 model year it’s certainly out of any other warrant program that I’m a where of at this point so until it’s shown to be differently it’s a major point deduction.
You still can still get parts for many of these and most motorhome facilities should be able to easily service them especially if it’s a Cummins diesel with an Allison transmission which is pretty much the norm for the industry these days.
While saying that I have seen a slight recovery of Caterpillar engines on some very expensive Busses out there Because the engine doesn’t represent the same high percentage of the end product price. and tends to get ignored in the multi-million dollar price tag.
If they can get there servicing abilities back up to at least par then they could become a real competitor in larger engines with better milage because that’s where I’m told they really shine.
If you were to open a Caterpillar servicing facility in one of there high traffic areas or at a place convenient to people with Cat driven motorhomes you would be flooded with business overnight.
This is why you can literally put two absolutely identical motorhomes next to each other with the absolutely only difference is that one has a Cat engine and the other has a Cummins both with the identical Allison transmission and hp and torque, the one with the Cat engine will be much cheaper to purchase simply because Caterpillar has been cursed with its inability to have servicing facilities in any real local areas like Cummins does..
The issue I had with the Allegro Bus 40 OP when seriously thinking of making an offer on it was there was just something that didn’t seem right about it.
Now it’s obvious that the dinner table has been modified as well as a few other things.
The coach is very clean and obviously very well taken care of, so what was driving me crazy about it ??
Then when going back over the counter space I was looking for where the stove top comes up out of the counter and couldn’t find it !!
At first I thought that, WOW, they really did a great job of hiding it there such that it just wasn’t obvious that it was there but there must be a lock or button or something to open it up.
At last it hit me there isn’t any stove top with burners present at all and that anyone I asked couldn't find either. They just are not there at all.
So, I presume that if you purchase this very nice custom RV you will need to invest in a camping stove top or as a minimum a hot plate of some type with and automatic off switch if they come that way along with some way to hold it down while using it on the road.
The counter top appears to have been cut out of a beautiful solid pice of thick wood and nicely finished but the idea of cutting out a place for the stove top was just something left for the next owner I guess.
I left emails to them about this in case it’s hidden some how but so far only one of the sales agents has returned my call and confirmed that there are no stove top burners in this Bus at all.
She said the person who started the customization just said that he never used I so why put it in. But because he / she didn’t finish the job (I think !).
He or she would rather just buy a hot plate for anything he can’t cook in his convection microwave and only use it while stationary so he doesn’t need to clutter up his jewel of a completely flawless counter top !!!
So, just how often do you use your cook top burners or plates ??
We use ours a lot. At least enough to justify having them permanently installed.
I’m not exactly sure why this small thing turned me off to the entire idea of making a reasonable offer on it but it did and all I can think of is if it took me this long to figure this deviation of counter top design then what else might be re-designed, ignored , by-passed or changed in some manner that will catch me off guard at the worst possible time like most things seem to do on these beautiful rigs we just love driving from our high driving perch above everyone else on the road with airhorns so load that the poor soul slowing us all down think a freight train is coming right at them and get there asses out of the way pronto and you have to admit that you actually love it, don’t you ??

We purchased a mid-bath motorhome from Lazy Daze in 2002. I still remember it like yesterday when we visited the factory and they spent 4 hours explaining the operation of each and every system. They affixed a nameplate with our family name engraved on it, and we were on our way to the most wonderful adventure in our brand new Lazy Daze motorhome.
Over these past 20+ years we have enjoyed many family vacations thanks to this well designed motor home. It has never let us down. We have dry camped looking at dinosaur tracks in Arizona, stayed at Walt Disney World Fort Wilderness, as well as the Grand Canyon, Grand Tetons and many other national parks. Whereas other larger motor homes may seem more luxurious, they lack the capability of the Lazy Daze motorhome. The ground clearance is fantastic, towing capacity impressive. The lightweight aluminum skin means is lightweight and able to climb mountains without effort, unlike the heavier competition. I could go on and on.
I have spoken with the fantastic staff at Lazy Daze several times and each time they have been helpful and able to get me the help I needed. I just spoke with them a week ago about replacing the back window, and they took the time to give me the contact information for their supplier, who I then called and they helped me out. I didn't pay either person, and they had no chance of making a buck from me. They just genuinely wanted to help a Lazy Daze owner out. There is no other motorhome manufacturer that does anything close to that.
Whenever we see another Lazy Daze owner on the highway we always wave and they wave back. It's like we are all part of some fantastic wonderful special club. They have Jamborees for Lazy Daze owners, and there are online forms where Lazy Daze owners share tips and cricket to get the most from their motorhomes. There is no better motor home out there, nor is there a better manufacturer.
If you are looking for the best designed, best built and most overall bestest motorhome out there, lazy Daze is it!
