Forest River XLR Nitro 5th Wheel reviews

We bought this RV used. The previous owner says he only used it about 8 times in 3 years, which we thought was good... WRONG! He didn't use it enough to find all the problems and ensure they were fixed. So far, generator wouldn't start. Probably from not being used, but we did a ton of research and found many places saying this brand was junk. Air conditioner in the main living area and thermostat for it don't work. It will say it's 57 degrees in there, but felt more like 80. Did a ton of research and found the engineer design put the temperature sensor up in the condenser so it reads cold all the time. Took a shower and ended up with a huge pool of water on the bathroom floor. Realized they didn't bother to seal anything between the chintzy plastic walls and the shower base. There is a leak somewhere in the main room. We haven't yet determined if it's from the air conditioner or slide. The siding that wraps under the 5th wheel is peeling away, with the screws pulled out. The fridge doesn't keep food at safe temperature. Anything against the back will freeze, anything in the front will spoil. The back entry door doesn't latch properly. The overall layout and design is horrible... the RV is so tall, and has MoRyde 4 steps to get in, but they used a tiny 10 inch reach fold away handle up by the door knob. The hallway going up to the master bedroom is very narrow. The steps for the back bunk don't reach the floor, so they're not very steady or sturdy. Storage is almost non-existent, and what is there inside is high up so we have to keep a step stool in there. Outside is a teeny tiny door on the pass through, not nearly big enough to throw a chair in. We are hoping the transfer of the extended warranty the previous owner purchased comes through soon so we can get some of this taken care of. My parents had a Forest River Work n Play toy hauler that was garbage also, so I should have known better. Next time we'll spend a little more for something other than Forest River that hopefully doesn't have as many issues. My advice is STAY AWAY!!! Show less

The best camper I've ever owned! I love this thing. 1) It is HUGE. Lots of room - it sleeps 9, so for an empty-nest couple and a small dog, it is like a home away from home. 2) The garage is amazing. I put a home office in there and used the half bath like it was my own little place. I worked while my wife lived the carefree camping life - watching Netflix, walking around in the wilderness, etc. 3) A king bed was a must for us, and this one was fantastic. 4) A washer-dryer connection was a must for us, and this one has it. 5) New things in 2022 and around then: tankless water heater (amazing), solar panel for battery-powered fridge. Keeps food cold while driving. 6) Everything is designed to be off-grid; you can completely function in this thing without even powering up the generator. 7) The generator is built-in and there's a 30 gallon tank so you really can go anywhere. 8) We are not toy people, but the garage is huge, with plenty of tie down rings, and there's a fuel station outside so you can gas your toys up like you are a gas station! We have loved this 5th wheel. It has been completely reliable and we hauled it from north Idaho to central coast of California and then to Sw FL where we have been stationary. Nothing has fallen apart, no tire mishaps and we all fit comfortable with the extra half bath, 15ft garage, tons of storage and pantry! The only issue we had was our refrigerator not working which we promptly got swapped out. Maybe we got lucky but literally nothing fell apart, no leaks, nothing. It’s been great! Show less

We like the layout. Do not like the workmanship. Had several issues over the first couple of years. Had some repaired by local dealer. Repaired most myself because could not wait for dealer schedule. Slide seals were replaced under factory warranty and again under extended warranty. Bedroom and kitchen slide leak water during rain storms. Did not discover until out of factory warranty. Currently living and working out of coach and unable to determine direct cause of leaks into the slides. Show less

The worst people to deal with do not do business with them, I would hate for anyone to be done like I was done by them. Knew they did me wrong and wasn’t apologetic about it all. Worst business I have ever don’t business with Show less

Trailer is not even what I thought we were buying. Nail under linoleum floor in living room. Gouge in counter top above fire place. After being home for 2 weeks after purchase planned on 1 week trip but had to cancel as the third slide in bedroom would not retract. It is stuck in out position. Have spent money on 2 different parks to stay so will lose that. Show less

Pulls great with the equalizer hitch i installed , family friendly lay out , great kitchen and the location of every thing is with in arms reach when cooking. sitting under the awning after a hard play day is real relaxing. first one that i had with gas and elc, hot water Great no wait for hot water. this is a very good camper lots of fun. My camper is a 3013 Forest River XLR Nitro 30FQS This camper is not on there list of choices so i chose the closest one Show less

Bought the unit new in August and already have a issue with the fiberglass side starting to bubble with air behind it. Found a large cut in the flooring and the tank valves are really hard to pull. Called the dealer and they say it needs to go back to factory so I call the support and they said no it needs fixed at a dealer that it has a water leak causing the issue. I say BS because its only been out from under the shelter once since we brought it home. If its has a leak then it leaked before we picked it up. The service stinks the rv is way over priced for what the quality is also. This is a XLR Hyper Lite 3212 Show less

Bought it used this summer 42 1/2 foot toy hauler. Beautiful unit, other than a couple burned outside lights everything is still working great. Pull great with my F250. Some issues I have read is more not understanding or doing walkthrough of your RV. Camping World did a complete walk though with us and made sure everything worked before I picked it up. I have owned several travel trailers this one is by far the worst one. We have only made two payments and only owned this trailer 3 months. In that time all the screws on the under skirt and fenders vibrated out before we even made it home. Then the skylight in the bathroom leaks every time it rains, refrigerator quit working, cable on the slide out broke, paneling is popping off the bathroom wall, ceiling is falling down, and last night the awning broke and the arm popped out and hit my wife in the face. I can’t get anywhere with my dealer or the manufacturer. At this point I just want out from under this trailer so I can move on and buy one of better quality. Any help would be appreciated Show less
