The HW296, was my 6th RV. I have had RV's from 19 to 32 feet. I bought into the 2 axle foldable camper idea, because they blend the best of both worlds. This High Wall tracks with the stability of a large towable, but tows like a folding camper. Storage is easier at only 22 feet closed. Fully deployed, 27 feet provides room to breath and enjoy real amenities. The High Wall designs allow for big beds, bathroom, big sink, adequate refrigerator, A/C, furnace, lots of storage and 360 degree views. In 2021, my Rockwood High Wall became the victim of a tornadic cross wind while heading West on I90 in South Dakota. It peeled the top off like a sardine can lid. My insurance company bought me a 32 foot Gray Wolf to replace it, because no High Walls were available. Well, less than 2 years later I am on the hunt for another HW296. They are just that appealing to me. As with any RV, there are pros and cons. However, if you want a low profile towable with great amenities, consider the biggest and best folding camper design in the industry, the Rockwood HW296.

The build quality was horrible. Had to replace lift system after 3 years. The black tank valve Broke off in my hand. Worst of all the front wall of the camper broke away from the sidewall causing the front bunk and wall to peel away from the rest of the camper. I believe it's a design flaw with the bunk end supports. I had high hopes that we would use this camper for many years but was fortunate to trade it in for what we paid for it. Also blew two tires . I feel the tires were at or near there max load carrying capacity. Also had to replace awning pole when one was bent.also microwave became dislodged from it's bracket causing the microwave to fall out.

This has been a great starter RV for my family. We traveled to four National Parks in it, all the way as far as Yellowstone. Every place we stopped and set up camp, people were amazed at the size of this pop up camper. Many called it "a pop up on steroids"! The king size slide was perfect for my husband and me, and my teen age daughter slept on the queen size slide and my teenage son slept on the dinette folded down to a bed. Very easy to switch from table and booth, to a bed. We rented movies from Red Boxes along the way and watched movies at night. Played games at the table and cooked inside the camper and used the external grill to make burgers one night. One thing we never used was the wet bath/toilet. We just used campground bath houses. So, they are still BRAND NEW! Never been set up or used. We used the camper for five years, twice a year, and have fond memories. Now that the kids have gone to college and are moving on, it's time to sell this camper to another family to create their own memories! We hope you love it as much as we have.

We love the open 360 degree views through large windows. It tows easily, even in high winds. It is quick to set up and you can easily avoid an incoming storm. The trailer is very well built with all the comforts of much larger trailers, having a number of extra amenities. My wife and I love the fact that the heater warms the trailer up in minutes. Other features we appreciate are the outside kitchen and barbecue, heated mattresses, "LOTS" of counter top space (more than many larger trailers), comfortable slide-out dinette, much higher ceiling than regular hard side trailers, 3-burner stove with oven, roof-top AC, and its' 19 foot length fits in our garage.

After only 3 years of use, my Rockwood HW 296 started to leak. The canvas, though cared for, clean, waxed began to leak. As well, the refrigerator just stopped working. I am second owner and spent 10,000 on this camper for mine and my families retirement after 24 years of military service. I had been away from family for over years total. This was my big purchase for a trip with my family out west. Guess who did not go out west? My family. I contacted Ray Brimmer, and Jacob carter from Rockwood and they told me it was my problem. Even though it was only 3 years old, the fact that I was not original owner voided warranty. TJ Snuggles who manufactures the canvas for Rockwood also would not do anything. The camper I just sold to buy this gem was 11 years old and did not leak ever, not even in a tropical storm in Destin, Florida, but my Rockwood High Wall 296 will soak through if you throw a cup of water on the canvas. Thanks for the great treatment Rockwood, mint is a pleasure serving money hungry, deceiving and miserable people such as yourselves. Do not buy a Rockwood. Trust me.
