Forest River East to West Silver Lake 27KDS reviews

We bought the unit new in 2023. First thing that went wrong was the water heater didn’t work. The dealer was able to get Forest River to provide a different brand (Subruban). This was our first experience with an on demand water heater. If we had to do it over again we would chose a regular water heater. The main entry door never did work correctly (still doesn’t) even though the dealer fixed it 3 times. Still doesn’t work right. On our trip back from Michigan (after the door had been fixed) It came open on the highway even though it was locked and the large handle was closed over it! The current trip we are on is to Florida and now the sliding door hinge to the bedroom came off while traveling and the door screws are stripped. We are veteran rv’rs and have had many different types and brands of rv’s/travel trailers over the years and the East/West is the worst. We would never buy this brand again. Show less

I bought a new 2023 Forest River, East to West, Entrada for a one year trip around the country. After two-weeks the refrigerator failed. The model is the Ever Chill and the freezer builds up ice preventing cold air going into the refrigerator. This is well known in the industry. The Forest River warranty is awful. I have been trying to get this model replaced and no one will talk to me. It was in the shop for 14 weeks with them only agreeing to replace the electrical panel. I had to cancel the Florida Keys due to warranty delays. It failed again. I can't get a direct contact to send a letter documenting the issues to get help with this issue. I need a new refrigerator. Then.. the microwave is a bad product as well. After the timer is finished, the convection oven turns on and still produces heat. It was replaced. First time I used the new unit, the convection oven came on. When you buy an RV, the appliances should work. The warranty is useless and the customer service is horrible. Buy from another company. If you have a problem, you will not be supported. Show less

Let me start by pointing out that this is a 2023 labeled East West but made by Forrest River. Do we love the RV floor plan, yes its perfect for a handicapped RV'er. Open and lots of room for a wheelchair with a real bathroom. But the quality and issues since day one are driving us crazy. We have invested four days and over 400 miles carting the RV to local dealers to repair defects. Both 36" bathroom doors keep falling off because the hardware is not mounted properly. Repaired by the local RV center with "Bigger Screws". That was the best Forrest River could do to fix the issue and the door fell off again on the way home. No hot water, Suburban Tankless HWH has code E1 and constantly fails to function. Tail lights full of water and plumbing leaks. The big issue is the fact that East/West (Forrest River) has no quality control when the unit was built. Also no consideration for customer relations. Show less

Forest River should be sued for listing their trailers as having a king bed,when it's not,original was junk and when we tried to purchase a real mattress ,the real mattress was 4 inches wider, deceptive trade practices anyone,maybe a class action law suit??Trailer is junk,ventahood doesn't vent outside,I ain't never been so discussted,could go on and on about this piece of crap but I'm tired Show less

We bought the unit off the show room floor in June of 2016. The dealer sold us on a life time warranty. when we looked at the unit one of the recliners was in the up position, the sales rep. repeatedly pushed it down till it locked in place. Well on our maiden journey the recliners foot rest popped up and when we extended the slid outs the foot rest on the chair caught the framing on the slide out and ripped it off, we found out the release was bad, second when we hooked up the water line we found out the ice maker water line was not connected properly and flooded the floor soaking the carpet and vinyl, we called the dealer to get a service tech come and fix the problems, but we were told that we would have to bring the unit to them since they don't have an outside tech. when we took it to get serviced they pulled the frig out to connect the line scratching the floor, well apparently the tech must have got distracted be cause he failed to plug the unit back in, screw the tie bars back down that hold the frig in place so when we pick up our camper and transported it the frig slid out luckily the slide prevented it from moving to far. With the life time warranty you have need to bring the unit back to the dealer ship every year so the can do a full inspection on the unit which usually cost in the neighborhood of $500.00 dollars. The second year that we had our unit the material on chairs started to peel when we contacted the dealer we were told that was not covered in our warranty. Then we contacted Cedar Creek and were told that certain years had problems with the material, they said they would send us the material and we could have them reupholstered. NOT! since then we have had problems with the grey and black tank valves getting stuck which were replaced under warranty. we had to have our air conditioner replaced that was another struggle with the warranty, our refrigerator fan motor went out. Our dealer told use it was not covered under our warranty because it is a residential unit. We contacted the insurance company direct and got the motor replaced at some cost to us, now the ice maker isn't working and we're getting the same response from the dealer that it is not covered by the warranty because it's a residential frig. Now they are telling us that our roof is in bad shape and eventually is going to have to be replaced and is note covered under our warranty. We've have had this unit serviced and inspected every year for four years and now they telling me this. they said it was do to neglect. we have had our unit cleaned every year by a professional and stored under a pole barn when note in use. This is a very quality RV. It has installation that is very good for all type of weather and with the heated tanks and lines. Very spacious and has a full size refrigerator for plenty of space. It has an Onan 5500 genertor with a 23 gallon gas tank. This is awesome for dry camping. Show less
