Keystone COUGAR X-LITE reviews

Bought this trailer in 2017 brand new. The day I took possess I had the spot weld the drop down legs as the pull pin was bringing the internals out as well on about every corner. Shower holder fell off wall, wasn’t screwed into anything but the wall board which is very thin. Roller bearings on the roll out trashcan came out, the back of the supports weren’t braces on both sides allowing it to move up and down independent of each side. At the two year mark the converter went out and then the refrigerator cooling unit went out. The roof was delaminating and the nails were coming loose underneath the membrane and trying to poke through. Then the water from snow and rain started seeping under the fiberglass shell. It was nothing but a money pit. The slides wouldn’t always go in evenly and I had to take that for work as well. If you buy one expect to budget another $250 a month for repairs above the monthly payment . I will never buy another keystone product again. I purchased a 1995 Nash that I have had no issues with. What surprised me is the Nash toilet still will hold water unlike the keystone. Show less

We bought the 2025 Cougar 364BHL Hero edition in June of 2025 and used it through last summer and fall; writing this on 3/10/2026 as we get ready for the next camping season. We are mostly weekenders with 1-2 long distance trips for a week+ each year. This is camper #6 so we've had everything from popup to this fifth wheel and the full spectrum of quality. Bar none this is the best unit we've had. Fit and finish is top tier. All of the mechanicals work fine, from hooking, unhooking, driving, camp setup and enjoying it. Water and sewer systems are fine, although tankless water heater is quirky and takes a bit to get used to. No leaks; I am constantly scowering the roof, walls, floors, plumbing and fixtures for any moisture. Electrical system is great; no issues. Appliances are all great; no concerns. The only warranty concerns were a couple of window shades, one pocket door that was damaged and one piece of trim replaced. That's it. Tows great behind my Ram Truck. So, I do hear horror stories about campers built afer 2019 as having so many issues, but I will say, in our case we have had a really good experience. We purchased it from Camping World in Syracuse, NY and we were very happy with the before and after purchase experience. Show less

Well, where do I start Bought the thing on Jan 15th and Feb 9th no hot water. This has the on demand tankless hot water heater. Called and paid for Good Sam service to come out and check it out. Well, they needed to order a part and come back at a later date to install it. So now we are showering in the bath house at the campground. this goes on for months of replacing different part until they decided to replace the who unit. So, we are excited that we are finally going to be able to shower in our new camper again. WRONG Does not work. Now we are going on 6 months and still no hot water. I am starting a different job in Georgia and have a service tech come out to look at it there and he said he fixed the issue. WRONG Now we are in NC and had a service tech come out and replaced the regulator and not fixed. checked everything and is stumped. Not the exterior water house starts leaking in the wall. Tech ordered parts and came back at a later time and fixed that. A month later we have no heat. Called a service tech and he came out was here the whole day troubleshooting. Well, he said that he was glad to be there as the unit could have caused an explosion, so he took the unit to his shop to bench test it. It ran all day perfect in his shop, so he returned with the operating unit. Mind you it is 0 degrees out and now we have to worry about the water lines as well as keeping ourselves warm. Installed the unit and bam not working. So the Lady from Keystone Amber (true angel) ended up giving him permission to bypass the original thermostat and install a separate t-stat and guess what does not work. So here we are again with no heat on these winter days and nights. As of today, the heater is still at the techs shop and he is waiting for parts. Since I am saying all this, I guess I will add that the kitchen counter on the island the laminate is all coming off around the sink bowl. The heat in the one recliner does not work. I already had to fix some of the wood trim on the slide outs as it just fell off on both ends. I have never had this issue with the old camper I traded in, and it was a Coleman. I thought hey we buy a new camper and we will have something nice. That was a joke I should of took 65,000.00 and gave it to a charity or a homeless guy. Overall, this has been the worst decision I have ever made in my life. I really would like to take this back to the dealer and get something different. Poor workmanship and quality of materials used in this camper is bottom of the barrel. I will never buy anything that has a keystone name on it as they could care less about all this. Amber Gardner at least offered to pay for us to go get a space heater however a space heater for this big space would do nothing. This should really be taken back under the lemon law and I am really thinking about looking into having this matter looked at further. Oh and by the way there is still a problem with the tankless hot water have to turn it on multiple times before you can get it to work. SO BAD Show less

I bought a 2023 Keystone Bullet thinking I was getting a good quality RV from a reputable brand. Unfortunately it has been nothing but a disappointment from the start. The AC failed within the first year and getting it replaced turned into a long and frustrating battle between the dealer and Keystone. No one wanted to take responsibility and it took way too much time and effort just to get something that should have been handled quickly. Then the dinette seats literally fell apart just from sitting on them. When I checked I discovered they were held together with cheap staples instead of proper screws or bolts. I ended up having to fix it myself by screwing everything back together which is not something you expect from a new RV at this price point. Now only a year and a half later all the rubber seals and junction trim around the exterior are dry cracked and falling apart. I called Keystone hoping they would at least acknowledge the problem but all I got was “Sorry it is not under warranty anymore.” That is their answer for a 1 and a half year old unit that is clearly built with poor materials and no quality control. I am now trying to sell it but it seems like a lot of people already know about Keystone’s reputation for bad quality and customer service. I wish I had read more reviews before buying. This is my first and last Keystone product. I will never recommend or buy from them again. Show less

We've owned this rv for 2 years. Very easy to pull and easy in/ out of gas stations. It's the perfect size for 2 adults but will sleep up to 6 people. We've never had an issue with it but saw a Keystone Cougar 24rds model that had a u shaped dinette. The rv is about 2ft longer and will accommodate our adult daughter sleeping in the dinette. We purchased this one and now need to find a new home for our other one. Nice rv! Show less

Very soft floor after warranty runs out like 2-3years never purchase other keystone again get word out there will do nothing about it told dealership about it said that normally big money for cheap floor plan probably cost $4000 to$6000 fix Show less

We bought the 5th wheel new in July. When we went through our walk through the slide wouldn't open, so we had to go back for a different walk through a few weeks later. Luckily for us, it was raining that day, because the bathroom skylight was leaking heavily, so we postponed again. When we got back to the dealer again for the walk through we water heater wasn't working, so again we postponed the walk through. Come to find out Keystone never wired the water heater... so we finally go to our walk through months later and the shore power didn't work. The socket wasn't wired properly.. so once again we left it at the dealer... so now we were pushing our Christmas in Arizona back because we were looking at mid-December for the walk through. All this time I was calling Keystone trying to get them off their hands and pay for the repairs. They did eventually, but it was months waiting.. Now, after our 4th camping trip the auto leveling system isn't working... Of course, it is out of warranty, because the 1 year warranty ended 4 months after we took possession of the camper. We are looking to upgrade now, but I will never buy another Thor (parent company) Product again, and won't even look at a Keystone. Show less

This is our second Keystone RV product. First one was Raptor 2004. Sold it after 7 years. I've been searching for a RV that checks all my boxes, weight, length, space, quality and price. We just bought Cougar and took it for a test camp close to home at Lake Tobosofkee in Macon Ga. Love my new camper. It's all that and more. I don't have anything negative to say about it yet. My favorite parts are the unique bathroom for a camper this size. Feels like a space you'd find in a Class A. Very roomy kitchen and living space, lots of storage. Show less

We own a 2017 Cougar rls. We search for this particular floorplan. It has large windows, 2 recliners, a large walk through bathroom and king bed. It light weight and can be towed with a half ton truck. We towed long distances and often took grandkids with us. Great floor plan! Show less

For over a year, we have planned to purchase this model, and finally made the decision to purchase one from a private owner in TN. It was a older couple, that didn't do much to keep it in good condition, so I am playing catch up with things like updates to the In-Command equipment. We still love t he floor layout, one of the reasons we wanted this model was the layout of the 2 lounge fold out chairs, that line right in front of a 50" TV, very similar to our layout at home. All the fancy tech I don't need, but it is sure is nice to the Auto Level is very useful. We have yet to figure out the Solar Charging system but will eventually. Overall, still an awesome setup for a couple or small family for camping. We Love it! Show less
