2017 Keystone Cougar reviews

We own a 2017 Cougar rls. We search for this particular floorplan. It has large windows, 2 recliners, a large walk through bathroom and king bed. It light weight and can be towed with a half ton truck. We towed long distances and often took grandkids with us. Great floor plan! Show less

The floor plan and layout is very useful and the outside kitchenette has been very flexible and frequently used. Towing this 5th wheel RV is very easy compared to pull behind units. The bunkhouse has proven to be extremely comfortable and versatile. Show less

I did write a previous review and am adding on to it as we have heard back from Keystone. Although it is a great floor plan, we have had bad luck with this trailer due to manufacturing defects. A minor defect is that they put a seam in the gutter right over the front door so that when it rains, water drips over the door. We've had it fixed a couple of times, but there is no permanent fix because you have to keep filling it with something to fill the gap. That is minor. We live with it. The MAJOR issue is the slideouts. We have had nothing but trouble with them, and I know this is a common issue with slideouts. But we found out that they were using some sort of hollow glides that crush over time. We have only had this trailer for 5 years, but have had trouble with the slideouts the entire time. Keystone just sent me an email stating that they won't even consider helping with this as it is past their one year warranty (we purchased a separate warranty and they won't cover it either). They say it is due to maintenance issues and normal wear and tear. We keep our trailer in a shop, we maintain it as the manual states and there are only 2 of us, so not a lot of wear and tear. Their email was rude and states that the matter is closed and they won't even respond to any more emails about it. Such poor customer service. The estimate we got for the repairs is $7,500! Don't buy a Keystone.....I tried to upload the video of what the slideouts do, but it won't let me for some reason? Show less

We love the layout of this RV, but we have had nothing but problems with the slideouts, and leaking over the front door. There have been other minor issues that we have been able to deal with and our warranty covered. But the slideouts apparently aren't covered by our warranty and we have an estimate of $7,500 to repair them. We talked to the makers of the slideout mechanism, and they say that the manufacturers were using hollow slideout rails and were told not to after a certain point. We also found out our walls are separating somehow. We take THE BEST care of our trailer. We park it inside. It is well maintained. There are only 2 of us, no kids, and we aren't heavy people. These things shouldn't be happening. I'm trying to get Keystone to help, but so far they have told us no. I will keep pushing! I would not recommend this model to anyone. Show less

Don’t buy a cougar! Roof has leaked since I’ve owned it! Couldn’t never get anything done about it from keystone or bob hurley! Absolute worst dealer!! Again I bought it new!! Again don’t buy a keystone and not from bob Hurley!!!! Show less

Very nice, comfortable and roomy! This unit is perfect for extended living for a couple or individual, or a weekend at the lake. Plenty of storage, heated underbelly is great for all weather. Automatic leveling makes setting up a breeze. My husband and I loved it! Show less

So far every fan including the stove, a.c. fan quit working.I've only had it a year and a half. They are made so cheap, but they sure do cost a bundle. So do the replacement parts. I'm so disappointed with the quality. I wouldn't buy another. Show less

I bought this 2017 5th wheel in 2019 from first owner who had only used it on 2 short trips. Since I’ve owned it in the last 22 months I’ve taken it on 5 short trips. Here are the issues I’ve had: Kitchen window mounted too far off center from cutout and not sealed well causing leaks with light rain. Toilet pipe plugging before/at tank. (Fighting this since purchase). Toilet bowl water “Belches” upon flushing as if black water tank is not vented or vent is plugged. Can’t determine/find a vent on roof corresponding to tank. All 4 vertical slide out wiper seals - 2 inside, 2 outside are tearing at the lower ends. Exterior trim molding buckling and coming apart. Solara awning fabric disintegrating and 6” tear at one end. Propane tank strap broke. Rear bumper slide out rack has bent and won’t slide back in. Travel Latch to hold open tri slide shower door broke. I’m not new to RVing. I take care of my equipment and don’t abuse it. This is without a doubt the worst engineered and manufactured RV I’ve ever owned. Keystone should be ashamed of producing it. There is no warranty. Awnings cover all slide outs to keep debris off slides. Climbs mountains without hesitation. Auto leveling is a great bonus, making set up a dream. Black water pipe stored at front of RV in PVC pipe under front frame. Dish playmaker included. Show less

The floor plan is the best I have experienced. We have never had any issues since buying it. The heat and A/C are very well designed to keep you very comfortable. Everything is in like new condition and works as it should. Nonsmokers, no bunks. Show less
