My wife and I bought this RV new, 7 long, long, long years ago.
On our first trip, in the boondocks of NE BC, a slide out cable snapped. Our dining and relaxing areas were now useless. The only good thing, is that a few stout lads were able to help me push it back into the house, so that we could continue our trip.
Turns out that the "factory technicians": had misaligned the mounting holes, so the awkward tension on the "brand new cable" was so great that it snapped.
We have ornamental trim in the unit. Big heavy, luxurious looking pieces. On the same trip, when we opened the door, one of the pieces had broken loose, and fallen onto the dining table (which we couldn't use, and the recliners, which we couldn't use).
So, I laid the piece on those two, and waited to get back home so that I could drill some holes, and use 2.5" wood screws to hold it in place.
Oh, yes, I forgot to mention, the "staples" that were supposed to hold it in place missed the mark by 50%, and they were only 1/2 inch long anyways.
The spare tire rack, under chassis - great idea. Except, the receiving nut was never welded to the carrier, so that when it came to change a tire, my wife had to grovel in the mud holding a wrench on the bolt, so that I could put a socket on said nut.
Not cool. Why: well because it's never a sun shiny day, when a fellow gets a flat.
Then the electrics went. 2 dealerships couldn't figure it out, my buddy an electrician was stymied, and then I found the GOD OF RV ELECTRICS, and $500 later, it was fixed.
Then, the other slide in the living area went askew.
Tore up a frame stud, tore up the sliding plate under the slide, so to make a long story short $6500 later, I got it back.
The dealership is fantastic.
The product?
I rue the day that I bought it.
One final thought, I only illustrated the highlights. There were many more.
Stay away from Montana.

Don’t waste your money. We use this toy hauler 6 times a year between May and October for long weekends and a couple of week long trips. Every time we take it away something breaks. The amount of money we put into this RV is ridiculous. The trailer just turn eight years old and for the last 3 years getting any matching replacement parts is next to impossible. Keystone customer service always refers you to an authorized dealer and when the authorized dealer not able to assist they refer you back to the keystone customer service. It is a vicious circle. You think when you spend upwards of 80,000 dollars you should be getting an RV that is good quality.

This trailer has been a dream and a nightmare! The floor plan is great, the large garage is awesome, and the tow ability is supreme. However, the workmanship from the factory has been straight garbage from day one!! Flimsy installation of siding, bunks , wallpaper, and cabinetry have been never ending and now I have to deal with tears on the roof!! This is my fourth rv and most expensive and inferior one of all! No wonder I rarely see Carbons on the road….

Guess the only complaint is tough to learn to cook with the oven because its small and propane.
Functions well for us and really ahs been a great unit while our place was being built. We move in our house next month (Dec 2021) and will be selling this unit mainly because I do not have rig to pull it nor do we camp enough to use it. We bought it specifically for the transition from our old rental to building up our property/house and it has served us great.
Rated factory support a 3 but never actually had to have support so can't really give them a 5 either. Same with towing. Never towed it as I had it moved in place when I bought it.

Do yourself a huge favor and stay away from keystone alpine , bought this piece of junk about three months ago and have had nothing but issues, slide out leaking , bedroom leaking, air stoped working water heater only works with electric no LP . The auto level system doesn’t work and the satellite cable isn’t hooked up to the outside cable jacks , it needs a new roof and a new slide out roof , alpine used to be Everest and she get away from that name they changed brand names but continue on with poor quality workmanship. Anyone cursed with this pile of junk I feel for you . Never again will I buy anything made by keystone. JUNK !!!!!!

I'll write this simply as a story of my experiences. Wife and I originally had a 32ft Forest River Salem 5th wheel RV which was 'OK' but quite heavy and chunky, the old square-slab-fronted aluminum-finish type. At 10yrs old it had a few things needing attention, while also being a bit big for just 2 of us when we preferred Boondocking off the grid roughing it out in the wilds. So I traded the Salem in for this smaller 5th wheel, the smallest I think I could find, while also being a more-common type. When collected from Santa Rosa CA, I had to join heavy fast-moving freeway traffic quickly and my truck towing this trailer moved SO easily, as if it was not there, feeling lighter and aerodynamically better than our previous RV. The all-in-one fiberglass sides are a great benefit.
When you downsize in length, it's invariably the kitchen area that gets hit with the most reduction, so the wife wasn't so happy, but there's only so much you can fit into a 27ft RV while still retaining an acceptable amount of wriggle room. She adapted very well and was still able to cook a full (15lb) turkey dinner at one point! The inbuilt (propane/12v) furnace isn't very economical and quite noisy, so we preferred to use a Big Buddy Mr Heater propane heater, which quietly and quickly warmed the RV in a few minutes. The aircon takes awhile to cool a warm RV but this is really the case for all RV's. Admittedly the insulation in the nose was almost non-existent so I removed the inside front trim to insert a lot of insulation, and fill some draughty gaps.
I like the layout design of this RV in that, even with the slide-out retracted, it's still possible (just, if you're slim) to squeeze past between the kitchen counter and the slide-out bench seat, meaning you can still 'live in it' (including having access to the fridge!) with the slide-out in if camping at a restricted location.
I'd rate the build quality as 'typical'. I believe - and this has been borne out by guys I've talked to in repair shops - that it doesn't matter whether you go for a cheaper or higher-end manufacturer, you can still get a lemon, or a good RV, just by pot-luck! So sometimes cabinet shelves can fall down while driving along rough roads, or bodywork can come away, or you find staples sticking out of the carpet, simply because they throw these things together 'on the clock'. You need to expect this if you're a Newbie to RV's! I incorporated so many personal mods on my RV, such as 6 solar panels in the roof, meaning voiding warranties, but I didn't have any major issues I couldn't handle by myself requiring me to consider any claims. This RV, just as most others, had a lot of 'dead space' hidden behind blank panels that I removed and made better use of.
In 6 years our Cougar traveled 29,000miles on 9 trips, covering 11 western USA states, staying at 127 camping locations - nearly all for FREE thanks to its Boondocking capabilities! That was thanks to my modifications with adding solar and lithium batteries but also we learned to economize and the water/dump tanks could last us several weeks between servicing them.
Overall I find the Cougar an average but quite acceptable model, and would recommend it.
