I bought this 2014 year-model in 2017 used from a non-Jayco dealer. My previous experience was with pop-up tent trailers. My wife requested that I upgrade to have HVAC and a bathroom. When my SUV died and I bought a Tundra V-8, I anticipated pulling a travel trailer, not a 5th wheel. So, when I decided I would rather have a 5th wheel, my research led me to this Jayco model as one of a few that the Tundra, equipped with a sliding hitch, was rated to handle, even when fully loaded. It is a good pairing; and I once had the occasion to pass a slower moving truck at 75 MPH as I neared the top of a long, steep, climb over a mountain, without the Tundra over-working. Especially given the light-weight construction of the Eagle HT26.5RLS, it has been very durable and is in pretty good shape after being driven about 3,500 miles on a total of 18 trips including 113 nights over the six years we have had it since buying it used. I love the floor plan, which speaks for itself. This is ideal for taking a long weekend or a week at time with my wife, but if I intended to travel with kids and/or take a longer trip of mostly one-night stops, I would choose a different model with more space and/or automatic levelling. The floorplan speaks for itself and is a matter of personal opinion, but I wouldn’t change a thing. We often remove one of the recliner chairs and leave it at home to create more room. As for rating the manufacturer, it was out of warranty when I bought it, but Jayco corporate was easy to deal with and helpful on things such as getting detailed wiring diagrams and ordering parts. I have absolutely no regrets, which is rare for RV owners!

From the owner: This would be a great buy for full timers or frequent travelers! Comfort is as great or better than your home. It's big. There are some bigger, but it is big. If you move every day, it could be tire-some, especially for older owners, like we are. We have a great truck that pulls this 5th wheel easily, and the set up is as easy as you can find - 6 point auto leveling, easily manipulated connections, and lots of user friendly attributes. Two air conditioners, ceiling fan, remotes for slides so you can walk around the rig while setting it up, fireplace that will give you instant heat, but also provide a comfortable ambiance. We've loved it and have taken exceptional care of it. The paint is slightly faded on the very front, but the rest looks like new and all the inside is as newly purchased. Storage was much more than we needed or even used, in the Basement and inside the rv. Reason for selling is that we are just not travelling as much as we thought we would and when we do, we've generally moved every day, which makes more road time and less time just enjoying the RV. It's too big to park in someone's driveway and visiting family is our major reason for traveling. We opted to switch to a Class B+ for this reason but loved and still do love our 5th wheel.

On October 26, 2013, we purchased our Jayco 361REQS. We are retired and purchased this unit to travel the country volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. Our reason for choosing a Jayco product was that prior to this one we owned two Jayco travel trailers and had no issues with either one. We felt that Jayco products were comfortable and reliable. We feel we were correct on the comfortableness, but not necessarily on the reliability.
We have had numerous problems with this unit from the very beginning.
1. The first time we tried to get the trailer off our tow vehicle, the front left landing gear wouldn’t retract. The landing gear motor was found to be bad and had to be replaced.
2. We had to spend two extra days in Albany, Georgia when the kitchen slide failed to retract. With assistance from a mobile RV repair company we were able to get the slide retracted. Our repair shop found that one of the slide motors had become disconnected which caused the slide to become inoperable. Fortunately, the trailer was still under warranty.
3. On another trip, two blades from the ceiling fan in the living room broke off and it took two months of waiting for parts to have this replaced. This also happened while under warranty.
4. Every cabinet door’s screws have come loose and had to be repaired.
5. We had body damage due to a tire blow-out because the factory-installed tires were only rated for the empty weight of the trailer. It took three months and three different shipments to get the correct and undamaged parts to the repair shop. After the third shipment, we were able to get undamaged body panels, but they were the wrong color.
6. The front cap became faded due to a factory defect and it had to be completely stripped and repainted. This took over a month to be completed.
We have suffered many other issues with this unit since owning it. However, our biggest concern is the slowness in getting needed parts to the repair shop. The following is an example:
On September 24, 2019, we took our trailer to a reputable repair shop to have the bedroom ceiling replaced due to puckering from moisture. We chose this firm because many of the repair people including the service manager were former employees the dealer we purchased the trailer from.
(this firm sold out to another firm) and these employees are familiar with our trailer. Upon inspection, they realized that our roof wasn’t a typical RV roof and was laminated. They found that there was a defect in the rubber membrane causing the interior damage. Our insurance company was contacted, and consent was given to the repair shop to order a new roof on October 22, 2019. The roof didn't arrive to the shop until December 10, 2019. During the repair process, the shop noticed the interior cove trim was damaged during ceiling removal. New trim was ordered on January 14, 2020. We just received word that the trim is to be shipped today, February 18, 2020 and should arrive this time next week. We were first told that the trim was to have been shipped the end of the prior week.

We bought our dream RV in 2014. New off the lot. As a fifth wheel, it pulled great. 1200 miles away from home, bedroom slide quit working while it was out. The fresh water tank after being filled, would arrive at destination with only 2/3 of water. Then the fourth year that we owned it, belly was sagging. So upon examination, found not one but two crossmembers broken letting frame of trailer at running gear spread. Called the factory and man I talked to said problem was a warranty issue and trailer was out of warranty. He would not admit that issue was shoddy product and really a safety issue. Then on top of that, I'm supposed to crawl under it and inspect it on a regular basis. And this with a totally enclosed belly. Had to borrow trailer to take vacation.

Manufacturer lies about insulation factor and how well it works keep heat and cold out. Construction must be done by ammatures without supervision. Poorly installed shades, awnings, drawers. Engineering nonexistant. Idiots installed awning so door won't open if awning tilted. Cheap foam insuation, must have saved at least a hundred bucks. Ac piping smaller than hole cut for it so air goes around piping and not in trailer. Have to be a contortionist to get too hotwater bypass and some drain valves. Nose of trailer gets so hot due to dark color. I guess the geniuses in engineering don't know dark colors absorb heat. Thats why ac cover is black too. If you have all day to wait for land geer to come down ypu will enjoy the electric and not hydraulic system. Must have been a few dollars cheaper too. Plan on painting the frame bumper, steps, axels and any metal parts on the underside. They ar so cheaply painted its already rusting when you buy the trailer. Another ingenius engineering blunder is the skylights that allow heat in generously. If you ate in 95 degree heat, plan on 87 inside. Totally dissatisfied and will never by jayco.

I have just purchased a 2014 Jayco Eagle from a private sale. Nice looking 5th wheel ! Soon after I brought it home I began to realize that the beauty was in fact only skin deep! The cabinets are made from a MDF board which is best described as compressed sawdust with binders. It is covered with a vinyl wrap that makes it look like wood. When the kitchen slide is retracted, the rug rubs against the cabinet and has literally torn the cabinet wood apart! It is also failing in other areas as well. I contacted Jayco but they offered no assistance since I am not the original owner even thought they asked me to send pictures of the defects. They simply did not care! They choose not to be responsible for the shoddy materials in their construction. For those of you who have MDF in your camper you should research the possible health problems that can be caused release of formaldehyde gases from this product. There has been warnings on the use of MDF. The interiors of this almost new camper is falling apart. The camper was only lightly used by adults, no kids no pets and it has failed the test.
