I bought a Thor Tranquility 19P from LA MESA in Sacramento, CA, that was the first big mistake. I inspected the unit at the dealership and pointed out multiple items needing to be fixed before I would take delivery. I paid an additional $2,500 for an out-of-state delivery. When the unit arrived the items appeared to be repaired, so I naively accepted the unit, that was the second mistake. Within 2 days the “repaired items” failed. I contacted the dealer they said contact Thor directly indicating it was not their problem. After multiple calls to LA MESA and Thor the Tranquility 19P still has these issues as no one will take responsibility for the failed parts. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE LA MESA in Sacramento your business. In my experience, they are crooks. The moment you hand over your money, they wash their hands of you. And DO NOT INVEST in a THOR Tranquility it has been one issue after another with this unit. Learn from my $151K mistake and save yourself the money and tremendous frustration.

This is my 2nd Sprinter, the first being a Class A which I found too small for 2 people. Some plusses: As a guy, I am most impressed with the ample storage both internal and external. Very comfortable and roomy with the slide both in (while driving) and out. Refrigerator is both electric (AC) and propane (auto) which is better than the newer models (DC/battery only). The ride is quiet and smooth with great acceleration even on grades. The exterior is full-body paint (vice decals which peel/fade over time) and looks as good as new after 9 years. I particularly like the huge skylight/vent over the salon. The only drawback to the floorplan is the very comfortable double bed in the rear corner. Now in my mid-70s, it is a bit of a challenge to make and to exit.....9 years ago, NO Problem.

My wife and I decided to downsize from our 30ft Toyhauler and RAM2500 truck to a Mercedes Camper Van. Availability was extremely limited toward the end of summer 2021 and we only had a single option which was the Thor Motor Coach Sanctuary. I am extremely disappointed in the quality of the Thor Coach. After almost a year I have fixed almost everything on this van. I'll try to capture all of our issues: First day we used the van all the batteries died which cut our trip short by 2 days. From there I have spent countless hours trouble shooting the charging system along with having it in the shop for services which everyone told me it is operating correctly. After my own troubleshooting the wire from the solar charge controller to the batteries was disconnected. The secondary alternator has never worked from day one which also charges the batteries when driving. Thor has sent me the incorrect replacement and still waiting for the correct replacement. The water has leaked from the outlet at the back of the van which I had to cut that completely out. The toilet leaked pee everywhere and ultimately had to be replaced. The coach is not stable at high speeds unless you upgrade the suspension along with 10ply tires which was an additional $8,000-$9,000. This is a must! Our cabinet drawers constantly fly open and I had to purchase stronger magnetic mounts to keep them closed. The overhead cabinet doors have fallen off and had to be remounted several times. The Propane Gas sensor has never worked(haven't been able to troubleshoot that yet). The Winegaurd System has also never worked, I spent hours trying to connect to the internet along with support from Winegaurd. Finally gave up and use my own phone plus a Weeboost Antenna. The back bed is so uncomfortable which caused us to purchase a 3" foam topper which helped a lot.

We purchased our 19L nine months ago, and have taken it on a number of trips of up to a week. There is a lot to like, and some things to dislike. We really like the driving comfort, and there really is quite a lot of storage, particularly external storage. The refrigerator is nicely sized and efficient, and the kitchen is pretty tight but still manageable. We wanted an enclosed bathroom with a door, which this model has, even though it is quite tight. We haven't tried taking a shower in there, but it wouldn't be that easy. In terms of issues that we have had, the biggest was that we started having electrical problems from the get-go. We had it serviced, and found out that there were several loose wiring connections. This caused the main breaker to trip, and ultimately the LiON batteries wouldn't charge at all. If you purchase the van, insist on having this inspected before delivery. The kitchen fan motor was also noisy, and it turns out the motor screws were loose. A few other things: * The bathroom door and drawers are held closed with magnets, and don't latch. We replaced these with latches, but why magnets? No idea, it's a pain. * The upper cabinets have neither magnets nor latches, so they rattle while driving unless you put in bumpers. * The Truma water heater control is in the back of the kitchen cabinet, so if you want to turn on the heater or get hot water, you have to empty the cabinet to get at the control. Not well thought out. * The TV is mounted facing the sliding door, which is not a convenient viewing location for any position in the van. * The mattress in back is a foam job covered in plastic. You'll want to get a real mattress before you even think of sleeping back there. There's a nice layer of plastic tabs underneath, however, that improves comfort and prevents moisture buildup. We've made quite a few interior adjustments, such as swapping out the table for a butcher block, putting in a nice mattress, and cutting the thickness of the foam backrest on the passenger bench in half. We'll probably move the Truma controls to the outside of the kitchen cabinet next to the BMPro tablet controller as well, and we may remount the TV in the sleeping area. Overall, we are happy with our purchase. There are some adjustments that are needed to make it perfect for us, but once in place, the van works for us. Now that the electrical issues are resolved, we have a stable platform to use.

Other than some minor cosmetic repairs I made myself , this Motorhome has performed almost flawlessly ! We had almost purchased a Very large Class A and are now glad we did not . We have all we need in this compact yet roomy RV and it gets better mileage than my 2018 jeep ! (Which we easily tow behind ) I have just recently had a B service at a Mercedes dealer ! All looked good when inspected ! We could not be happier with our Siesta ! Maneuverability is a big plus in rving ! You'll be glad you purchased a RV on this true and tested Mercedes chassis ! The 3 liter turbo will amaze you with it's power and fuel economy ! Save yourself from a huge luxury coach $ loss ! This RV will retain it's value for years to come ! (Just look up it's resale values ) Happy RVin !

The Mercedes part of the build is awesome. The Thor house, not so much. Won’t even comment in Sacramento LaMesa, as they don’t exist once they get your money. So far the awning has failed, the water pump, the inverter, has failed, cabinet quality is weak, wheels were so bad I threw them away, and the insect screens at the main door are a joke. Other than that, when everything works it’s pretty cool. Will be in the hanger for a month until the repair shop can look at it regarding the inverter issue. Thor tech couldn’t help, had no idea where to start. Honestly tonight I feel I should have spent another forty grand and bought a Revel.

Went out last week for our first trip and to find out the shower was leaking water through the door to the kitchen. The worst, toilet was leaking too I opened the cassette compartment and it was a messed! It was fun cleaning that part if you know what I mean. The lithium battery wasn’t charging while running! The microwave wasn’t working properly too! Just got back from our trip and it was a complete Disaster! I’m soooo frustrated and very Disappointed from La Mesa and Thor!

Love the mileage and the comfortable ride! Interior is attractive and conveniently arranged. Great storage inside and out--even can stow my mobility scooter (in four parts) in the outside bays and still have room for folding chairs, a table, a rug, and tools! The only downside for us is that the step to the bedroom and the step to get into bed have become difficult to negotiate as my handicap has gotten worse. Have had it for four years and have had no problems other than the steps, which wouldn't bother someone who doesn't have mobilty issues--no need for repairs or contact with factory support.

We purchased our Thor Citation in 2019. We're the third owners and the coach only had 10K miles on it when we bought it from the second owner. It now has 40K on it, after two years. To begin with,we rented an RV in Alaska before buying our first RV, this Citation. We knew what we wanted and what we didn't want and we knew how and when we planned to use it. These questions are key to getting the best RV for your needs. Our intention was to have an RV that had relatively good fuel economy; CHECK. We wanted an RV that was small and easy to maneuver: CHECK. We wanted an RV small enough and NARROW ENOUGH to easily park on city streets and in parking lots; CHECK. We wanted a Class-C so we would have the car like convenience of a door on each side where we sit; CHECK. We wanted to be able to drive in the mountains and look up and see what was on the surrounding hills and not be driving "in a carport";CHECK. We wanted an RV that would be able to pull into a rest stop off of the freeway and allow us to use our bathroom and get in bed without having much setup or a NEED to use a slide-out; CHECK! And we didn't know it at the time but we also needed and are delighted to have amazing amounts of storage that can be accessed from OUTSIDE of the coach. I can get two E-Bikes in the space under our bed, through the exterior door, just by taking their front tires off. And we haven't even BEGUN to talk about the other huge storage compartments. I learned later that Thor is the "King of Storage" and we just lucked out in finding this unit. Now for the BAD; The Mercedes Sprinter interior is horrible. I mean, it's only had five years of use and the simple, no frills, mechanical everything and no electric controls seats are coming apart. The Trip Odometer, and there is only ONE of those, shares space with the reading for the temperature or cruise control setting. To see the trip, disengage the cruise??? The electric door lock control, and there is ONLY ONE of those, is not on each door but in the center of the dash???? The turn signal arm is an inch below a similar ARM for setting the cruise control???? "German Engineering" excellence; What a joke. It's 3.0 Turbo Diesel engine has "adequate" power and is able to maintain highway speeds in the mountains without too much problem BUT it really needs another gear between second and third. AGAIN; "German Engineering" is a joke. As for the build quality, I'm a hands-on guy, and you better be one also. Not just for Thor but for ALL RV's. Read the forums. One guy had a tag line that said it best; "Nothing works on an RV but the owner".... LOL OK; It's not THAT bad but so far I discovered: 1. The black water tank valve became jammed with a plastic disk that was undoubtedly dropped in the tank and left there during tank plumbing assembly. Easy fix with a bent coat hangar and a tug on the plastic to remove it. 2. The DVD player didn't work because they left the "Remove this screw before installation" screw installed! Easy fix. 3. The shower seeped water from the cold water valve because they LEFT THE O'RING OFF during assembly. Just for grins, I took a picture down inside the wall and there it was; right where the Thor assembly buffoon dropped it and left it. 4. The cabinets ARE cheaply made and DO need beefing up; Especially the bottom panels. But I have a friend who bought a brand new RV of a different brand and he's rebuilding all of his cabinets for the same reasons. All in all, it was the design that mattered most to us and we are more than satisfied with our 2017 Thor Citation-24SA.
