While on our 2nd trip with trailer, we noticed a crease in the vinyl floor in front of the fridge. There is an 18" -+ noticable valley in floor. Looks like an obvious flaw in the underlayment. After months of communication with Grand Design, there only solution is to patch the floor. In a high traffic area this would not last and hurt resale value. Also, the drawers by the front door wobbled and banged up against the door frame. This I fixed with heavy duty Blum sliders that had no side to side play. Grand Design does not back their product, we'll never buy their product again. Show less

This Grand Design is my 7th. This 17MKE is my 3rd. I used all of them for traveling to work sites harvesting. When not working used for camping throughout western and mid western USA and wintering in Arizona and New Mexico. For the most part I was able to fix problems and issues. All trailers I owned never froze up and I remained comfortable. I sold 3 to my workers and they still have them back to 2018. The current 17MKE had an inoperable awning. Dealer fixed it by replacing the circuit and unity board. It does pay to buy local! The 2150 RB was my first and that was repaired local. They replaced Thetford toilet with an American Dometic 310. Yes. I had issues with other models but had to fix myself or call a mobile rv technician because I was harvesting and my time was completely focused on the thousands of acreage to be completed. I am 78 and can’t work anymore. I bought this 2025 17MKE and it’s for sale because of health reasons. Bottom line…Yes! I would still buy Grand Design Products because of the quality and my personal experience with the product! No RV is perfect! I Have seen people with Airstreams with problems! Read the unbiased reviews on other brands. Make your decision on the top 5. Stay away from the Covid era years! The Chinese tried to kill us and they disrupted the world! Great RV for a small family. Has a queen size bed and a bunk beds. Plenty of walking room and a full bathroom. My family and I have enjoyed this RV. Plenty of storage and easy to tow with a midsize truck. I added an anti-sway hitch that made towing very easy and tress free. Show less

This rig is poorly constructed. We’ve owned it two years and put about 10,000 miles on it. Here are the more significant problem areas: 1) Plumbing. Installers used PEX clamps on vinyl tubing. So far, we’ve had six separate leaks and it’s getting worse. Some are in the underbelly. We’ll be forced to complete a major tear down just to get to the leaks. We will then have to replace ALL clamps on the vinyl tubes. 2) Schwintek slide was improperly installed from the factory. Dealer can’t seem to make it right. Still throws error codes. Multi-thousand dollar repair required one year into ownership. 3) Roof membrane is starting to bubble. 4) Kitchen countertop is delaminating.around the sink. 5) Sliding barn door always fell off during transit until I “McGyvered” it for a permanent fix. We hope to sell (dump) it once we fix the plumbing. Grand Design isn’t worth the premium price. Show less

For a small RV, it seems open and roomy. The bathroom is bigger than most bathrooms in larger RVs. The rear kitchen has a lot of storage and a pantry. The two large drawers next to the dinette are great for storage and the shoe cubby below the drawers are handy. The quality is great! Show less

For a couples RV this is the perfect RV to travel the US in. Tows easy, and the artic package is great to heat or cool this RV fast. When camping in the coach is so well insulated that you won't hear neighbors talking outside. Used mostly in the Florida heat and have no issue in cooling down the rv fast, or keeping a comfortable temp 24/7. No need in having a heavy duty truck to pull this coach pulls easy with a 4.0L Ford Ranger with no issue. Braking system on this RV is great for stopping Show less

If I could give zero"s I would. We were warned not to buy a trailer made during Covid due to inexperienced workers making the trailers. We spent extra money and bought a 2024 model. It didn't matter. Travel Trailer is all of 4 months old. 1) Door latches do not work. 2) Refrigerator broke before first use and had to be replaced. 3) Trailer was sent from factory with solar panel wired incorrectly. ( No quality control) 4) Bathroon sliding door fell off the brackets and screws stripped due to only one door guide installed. 5) Heater/furnace did not work on a cold morning on the trailers second trip. (Again, zero quality control) What will break on this POS next? If you are looking at a Grand Design, run as fast as you can. Show less

We really like the rv except for the build quality. It has been back in the shop more days than we have actually used it. We have had to replace a slide motor and the awning two shades the two grey tanks will not totally empty unless you are on a down hill slope. And now we just pulled it in the rain and had a puddle of water at both bottom corners of the slide. And we also have cold air coming in from the corners of the slide. Our last trailer didn’t have a slide and I was concerned about the fact it might leak but slides have been around for a long time so we tried it. And now wish we didn’t have one. Show less

THIS IS MY 4TH GRAND DESIGN IMAGINE XLS. SECOND 18RBE. PREVIOUS TRAILERS WERE 2150RB, 18RBE, 17MKE, PRESENT 18RBE. NO RV IS PERFECT. I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE WITH AIRSTREAMS THAT HAD ISSUES! PRIOR OWNERSHIP OF THE GRAND DESIGN TRAILER HAS PRESENTED MINOR ISSUES SUCH AS: WATER PUMP, THERMOSTAT, CIRCUIT BOARD ON WATER HEATER, PROPANE REGULATOR. NOTHING THAT SHUT ME DOWN THAT I COULD NOT REPAIR OR GO TO PLAN B. LITTLE WATER LEAK AT KITCHEN WINDOW, EASY FIX. IN THE MARINES WE LEARN TO ADAPT, IMPROVISE, AND OVERCOME! I HAVE SOLD MY PREVIOUS UNITS TO MY WORKERS AND THEY STILL HAVE THEM! THE TWO BEST PRODUCTS OF GRAND DESIGN ARE THE XLS SERIES AND THE REFLECTION SERIES. BIG TRAILERS=BIG PROBLEMS! Anyone having trouble with the slide-out should contact Lippert Tech directly. There was a recall on units made between Oct. 2021 and Jan. 2022. They didn't inform anyone, Not even the Grand Design dealers. After I contacted them, they said ours would be replaced free of charge, parts and labor. Just waiting to get ours into the shop.
