2020 Grand Design reviews

The floor plan is absolutely amazing. It feels so open and easy to move around in. The counter space is unmatched that is for sure. Plus the bathroom is perfectly sized and has lots of storage. The ability to drive our truck and not have to get a fifth wheel hitch but have a fifth wheel feel is perfection. We use our truck bed for hauling other things so this is the best of both worlds. Although I was able to purchase thd rv, the seller was respectfull, direct and punctual. The rv was emaculate insidd and out. The tires and tow package are in great condition. I fealt at home inside with quality furniturd and aplliances. I would recommend it to anyone thats able to buy it. Take a look for yourself. Show less

We Factory ordered our rig in 2019. When we received our rig we had an issue with the AC not being installed correctly and our water heater leaking. All issues were brought directly to Grand design, and they took car of everything. We were full time living in our rig so Grand Design brought us a rig to live in while they took ours back to Indiana and made repairs. I will say they stand behind their product. If you are looking to go full time, Grand Design is the only full time rig I would buy. Show less

Like many others here, we did A LOT of research before purchasing a toy hauler. We understand that most RV's are poorly built (somehow this industry gets away with it year after year with little to no consequence) so we decided to spend the extra money and we purchased our Grand Design 21G in December 2020 based on many reviews which indicated Grand Design was better than most brands. Oooops. Nope. This is definitely NOT the case. Without listing the massive amount of problems and issues we've experienced with this overpriced piece of trash, and after over 9 trips to the dealership "service department" (LOLOL "service") and over 27 months of our trailer sitting in this "service department" while the so-called "technicians" just make things even worse, we've hired an attorney and we are pursuing a lemon law buyback. (why aren't more of you doing this???) This trailer is easily the biggest disappointment of a purchase we've ever made in our lives, and we aren't going to let them get away with it. We suggest more of you do the same. Grand Design is just as big, or in our case, an even bigger piece of junk than any of the others. Their customer service? Yeah, they put on a decent enough show at first, but when push comes to shove, they're the typical spineless dirty weasels who know they built and sold garbage. Show less

We looked forever at floor plans trying to find one that would work for teens or adult children. So many have little bunks where they get inside a tube to sleep. Our kids are older so we knew this would not work. We also wanted a big enough floor plan that we could sit inside during inclement weather. I wasn’t initially looking for an island or a fireplace but can tell you that I do love both. This unit has so much storage which is something people complain about often. I love that it sleeps six adults easily. Another thing is that we can all watch one TV together. So often the bunk areas can’t easily view the TV and with this floor plan we can all watch the TV easily. We have had no issues with our unit other than some very small cosmetic things. One of the reasons that attracted us to the Grand Design brand was that they have a really good reputation for a quality unit. I think during Covid when they were making units as fast as they could go (unit years 2021 and 2022) the build quality maybe wasn’t quite as good. We did have an RV inspection done by a third-party before we brought our unit home and I would pay for that again. It gave us peace of mind that all the things worked like they were supposed to before we took it out. It’s a heavy camper so we made sure we had a tow vehicle that could handle the weight. The only thing I wish it had it doesn’t was a king size bed other than that this camper has been perfect. we’ve said many times we’re glad we didn’t buy some of the other floorplans we were looking at because we would have wanted to trade them in already. Originally bought the Toy Hauler to take our Polaris 4 wheeler on our trips. Given the limited RV parks that allow 4-wheelers, the garage turned into a perfect 2nd bedroom with it's own half bath and TV. Additionally, the bench and tables were a great dining area. Used the porch many times as a perfect outdoor area as well. Having the garage gave us all kinds of flexibility, from transporting our e-bikes and anything else we wanted to take, to using the garage as moving van storage. Moved our Son and Wife's belongings from SC to FL when they bought their first house. While the garage wasn't used as originally planned, it was very flexible and turned out to be the perfect second bedroom for our visiting family! The Momentum has a 40K btu furnace for winter and (3) 15K btu air conditioners for the Summer. With it's 4 season insulation, it was perfect when we went skiing in 10 degree WV or 110 degrees in AZ. Given all the appliances (18 cu ft Fridge/Freezer, gas range and oven, convection micro-oven and island sink), the 351M has all the comforts of home on wheels. Entertainment is just like home with (3) flat screen TV's and a 3 zone pioneer stereo system. Lastly, the Grand Design 351M was designed very well and built with much higher quality than most RV's. This is an amazing rig. We purchased this because of the mid-bunkroom. This rig has a TON of storage space, in the living area, in the kitchen area, in the bedroom, underneath. The convection microwave is a huge plus. We’ve used the oven, but we all know RV ovens aren’t the best. The convection microwave works great. I've made biscuits and cookies, etc.. in it multiple times. Refrigerator has a ton of space. We’ve gone on 30 day trips in this rig and had no issues with any of the appliances. We upgraded the batteries because we keep it in a storage facility when not being used. We upgraded to a trickle charger for those batteries for the same reason. Show less

We've had the RV for just over 4 years. Bought new. We do not travel with the unit. It is on a seasonal site. However I did move it 60 miles from the original seasonal location to another and it towed very well. The only real issue we've ever had was the Norcold 1210 model refrigerator. The original one was DOA upon us taking delivery. It was replaced quickly and that unit lasted about 2 years. GD was helpful in coordinating a replacement unit along with our dealer. That one failed as well. I replaced it with a residential refrigerator. I replaced the bathroom faucet as well. The original was simply too low to the sink bowl. A simple and easy process. Otherwise the floor plan, storage and overall functionality has been awesome for us. Show less

This RV checks almost all the boxes if you need a toy hauler but still camp in conventional campgrounds as it’s still under 40’. This is the trailer for you. Good kitchen storage , kitchen is cramped with more than 2 people in it at once. Limited space for eating but good couch layout for watching TV. Big master bedroom and good size shower and great half bath in the garage for the kids. Small outside storage gotta get creative but still works. This trailer has had the least amount of problems out of my previous Dutchman and Forest River trailers. Would purchase again. Show less

We lived in our RV for almost 4 years, and it has treated us very nicely and without any problems. This layout gave us so much room and storage for everything we could ever need. We did upgrade our fridge to a Samsung residential fridge for more space as we were living it in. Show less
