2023 Grand Design reviews

Our experience with this rv was wonderful. The floor plan is good for a couple orr a small family Very large living room with comfortable recliners And a firepkace No major issues. We purchased the unit new in April of 2023 and use it about every other weekend during the summer. After the first couple of trips the door would no longer close and stay latched. If you bump into the valance surrounding the shades, they fall off. On our first long trip the main shade came completely off the wall. It was held on by only two screws that weren't screwed into anything solid. First time we wanted to put the table down for the grand kids to sleep on we found out it is off center by 3/4-inch, one side sits up on the bench. Sliding door to the bedroom kept breaking the plastic support on the floor. After several fixes I figured out the door was not or barely attached to the ceiling, again screws not put into anything solid like a stud. On a hot day you might as well get a motel room as the sewer smell will drive you out. Pulled the vent cap and found the plastic vapor barrier was installed right over the vent hole. Entertainment system has a DVD player which is good for the kids only trouble is, is that it is not a blueray player so I had to buy one of those, I was told that if we want to use the radio, we will need to buy an antenae to get any signal. Open a window, good luck getting it closed all the way. Solar cell, what a joke, we were told we could run the fridge in reduced power mode and all would be good, Nice if you want to park it without power between camping weekends. Just like everything else with this Turd, the Grand Design is Grand Failure. I can't even, in good conscience sell it or trade it in without being honest about the issues. The floor plan is great. Plenty of room and layed out well. All appliances have worked very well. We really love the refrigerator 12 v and large. The unit tows well and is very easy to hook up with the auto hitch to original function. Excellent warranty and great service when needed Show less

We purchased our Momentum in October, 2024 from a Lazy Days dealership in IA. We drove from AZ to IA to pick it up. When we stopped for the night on our way back, we walked into the garage and the bucket seats had fallen off the rails and damaged the sliding glass doors out to the deck. This was the fault of the dealership not doing a proper installation. We got back to AZ and have been trying to get these doors replaced since that time. It’s now almost the end of April and we still DON’T HAVE the parts!!! The coach is sitting at Camping World in Surprise, AZ in the sun - and the kicker is we pay for covered parking! We are so disgusted with Lazy Days in Council Bluffs, IA as well as the warranty department for Grand Design. Buyer beware!!!!! Show less

We have owned several fifth wheels and I love this front living floor plan. Plenty of storage space and room The on demand hot water heater alleviates running out of hot water when 3 adults take showers. Cools extremely well with the 3 AC's in South Carolina weather and humidity. Show less

I've owned Grand Design units for years and we're on our 3rd now, a Solitude 310GKR. We hoped that this would fit our retirement plans but I'm looking to sell/trade it for a Brinkley. We've taken our 310 out 5 times now and it's ended up in the repair shop after each trip. #1- The closet wall wasn't anchored to the floor. #2- The hydraulic system failed and had to be replaced. #3- the couches weren't anchored to the floor causing them to crash into the island and damaging both. #4- The wood trim poorly attached and falling off in several areas of the interior. #5- The heat pump for the electric heat on the roof top unit went out. Since Grand Design was bought out, it is no better than any other brand out there, including the cheap units. Components always likely to fail but the quality and workmanship has dramatically fallen. I would not recommend a Solitude as they're badly overpriced for what you get now. Show less

Great floor plan! Walk around Queen bed with lots of storage. Love the living and kitchen areas! Solar fridge is a game changer for keeping food cold! Outside kitchen and storage is helpful. Has great 3rd closet with optional washer dryer hookup. Show less

I used to own a trailer dealership and I have hauled every size trailer. This trailer hauls and travels great. It has been a great trailer. I had a bad fridge but it was replaced. The only disappointment is the rust on the powder coated Lippert frame. Show less

I decided to trade in my Motorhome for a Toy Hauler and chose Grand Design because of the supposedly good reviews they have that are very questionable today. I picked up my new Momentum 29G in December 2023, it was supposed to bring us fun and adventure. During the first rain, water started coming in through both sliders, the generator stopped working, black water started leaking, and the reclining seats came loose. I took it under warranty, they had it for 3 months. I went out in the RV and during the first rain, the same problem, water through both sliders and the generator not working. Three months again under warranty, they let me know it was ready, I pick it up and the same problem continues, water coming in through the sliders and the generator not working. 10 months later without using the camper, it is scheduled to go under warranty again. I have called and written to Grand Design and they have not resolved anything. This is my third RV, my first Grand Design and it will be the last. Show less

For a small RV, it seems open and roomy. The bathroom is bigger than most bathrooms in larger RVs. The rear kitchen has a lot of storage and a pantry. The two large drawers next to the dinette are great for storage and the shoe cubby below the drawers are handy. The quality is great! Show less
