The couches make out into queen beds with a large curtain separating the front living area from the rest of the trailer. The half bath makes it nice for the people in the front and not disturb the people in the rear. The 5th wheel has solar panels, generator, residential size refrigerator, ice maker and washer and dryer.

I can't say enough about Grand Design. They really take care of their customers. The floorplan on this model is absolutely perfect for full-time living! Plenty of space and storage. We have everything with us and we still have empty cabinets! This until is very user friendly with plenty of manuals and online support! This is the perfect retirement unit for you! Full size kitchen with ample counter space and full size appliances. Master bedroom/bathroom screams luxury! Living room has theater seats with heat and massage, along with 2 queen size pull out beds. Easy to wipe clean vinyl flooring throughout. No carpet in here to keep allergens away. Central vacuum is the best! It has the 4-season package - no weather too hot or cold for this baby! Cozy, feel like home alongside the fireplace as you take in a picturesque view in the panoramic front window. After months of shopping and review (quite a bit of it here! Thanks RVInsider!) I've just picked up a 2019 Grand Design Solitude 380FL.
We knew we wanted a front living floor plan but just about everything else was up in the air.
After looking at so many RVs, all I can say is how shocked I was by how many RV manufacturers there are out there building extremely disappointing RVs. Even some that I thought were supposed to be high quality just felt flimsy and fragile with obvious short-cuts taken everywhere you look.
Open Range was the most surprising. I've always been told they are some of the best, but after a jammed-open black tank valve and a the salesman telling my wife "Oh no the floor flexing like that is pretty much standard in everything you're going to look at."
No, it's not. Grand Design floor are absolutely rock solid.
Another surprising flaw to compare with Open Range is the lack of storage. In their flagship FL model, they built in (I think) 8ft ceilings in the rear bedroom. Grand Design opted to elevate the bedroom, creating massive amounts of storage space beneath. More storage than I think I'll ever practically use.
The floor plan is incredible. Almost every other FL seemed to have either a half-bath or pantry in the kitchen. Grand Design put both in this unit, which just feels amazing!
Last up is the rear bathroom. In 2019 they switched it up to include the most amazing bathroom I've ever seen in an rv, (and most houses honestly. The shower isn't the largest, but has about a 4 inch drop and a decent amount of space. The toilets are solid, the double vanity is awesome and there's enough space to do yoga.
All of the wood feels like actual finished wood. It is clearly NOT that awful particle board with some wood panel cover/sticker crap that just peels off. The counters are actually solid. Everything is just so solid!
The only star I can dock from Grand Design is in the towing category because with all the solid construction, these things are HEAVY! A full 2000 lbs higher dry weight vs. the Open Range, but again, that weight savings is what made the Open Range feel so flimsy.

We purchased and took possession of a Grand Design 43 foot Solitude 5th wheel 6/1/2022. When we went "shopping" at Brett's RV in Missoula, MT., we explained to them that we needed a high quality RV to live in for approx one year while living on our property while construction of our house was being done. This specific 5th wheel was recommended by several sales people at Bret's as a "residential RV" with specific modifications done to this design for "all season living." Since would be stationary living "any RV mobile service could come to your property." Saying all the right things we wanted to hear, right? HA! We paid $118,000 for this "home."
Now 11/2021 we started using the furnace for heat. 4/20 The furnace went out. Still in the 30's here in Eureka, MT. Middle of last nigh, motor making "bearings going out" awful noises and then safety kicked the motor off and furnace will not turn on.
AH!! We have warranty for this issue:
We call Brett's RV- ummm since your RV is stationary we can't help you unless you drive it to here. Recommended to call Grand Design.
We call Grand Design and the "services manager" is very very condescending and rude. Proceeds to tell us "your camper is not residential" "we do not make residential" type RV's. "Was a sales pitch you got there." I am sorry but I got very rude back to him as did not appreciate one iota that he called a $118,000 home a "camper." But he was so so very rude and he did not even ask us for our VIN!#### What did he do for? Yep you guessed it....he pawned us off to calling Suburban who makes the furnace. I told him we were freezing with no heat. AND as a Grand Design Representative when I asked him "what would you do if you were in our shoes?" OMG...he said "ma'am I would not be living in an RV."
My husband and I are at a lost of words for having to learn that Grand Design is as crooked as they come and be thankful if you have never had an issue with their product. We already learned to not trust Brett's again. Naive that paying for over a $100K product of theirs with an issue, takes the cake for showing their true colors.
And that this issue will never come to light to any higher ups at Grand Design and Mr. Service Manager will squash it all to make it doesn't~ And, just as they intended, we will be forced to pay out $1600 to replace the furnace and whatever the labor costs will be,
Please, please: Don't look at the current day of owning your RV but investigate if the RV is not even a year old and an appliance breaks, what type of help will you get? Don't expect any from Grand Design who built the darn thing! And don't buy from Brett's as they are known for "pure sale gimmick" to close the deal period. FALSE advertising. Gosh I wish we could afford an attorney, but the $$ will go to the furnace.

I have been an RVer since childhood. I have owned travel trailers and a Grand Design 2019 Solitude 380 FL-R. This 5th wheel is one of the BEST long term, over the road rig available. This is a 4 season rig made for the gray and for frigid temperatures, whether traveling through Florida or Arizona in the summer, or enjoying the could-frigid weather of the northeastern states like Maine in the winter, this rig is fit for all environments.
Two large A/C’s keep you cool centrally in the summer and three separate heating sources ( heat pump/gas or electric furnace/ living room fireplace). The unit Sleeps 6 large adults comfortably. With the nicety of two bathrooms, there is never a line waiting for restroom privileges. The residential refrigerator, large cooking surface and oven makes you feel as if you are at home. The master bedroom’s 14” mattress is so comfortable one has challenges getting out of bed in the morning to watch the sunrise.
This by far is the Best rig I have ever owned. Never an issue with any of the rigs workmanship. Grand Design did an Outstanding job with this 5th wheel. 5 Stars no doubt.

Our first trip out in our new Solitude 380fl. After placing the trailer exactly where we wanted it, we disconnected it from the hitch and unplugged the 7-pin electrical socket on our truck. We pulled our truck forward and then returned to the trailer to start the leveling sequence on our automated hydraulic system. That is when we noticed small wisps of smoke coming from the hitch housing on the trailer. We were immediately alarmed and started looking for the source of the smoke. We started opening compartments on the front-side of the trailer (both left and right) and immediately noticed smoke coming from both sides. Eventually, we noticed flame in the propane compartment on the right side of the trailer, though it seemed to be up high and deeper in the structure of the trailer. We emptied a full extinguisher into the compartment, but the fire was still evident. We then opened the front electrical/hydraulic compartment and flames poured out, prompting us to empty a second extinguisher into that compartment. This seemed to put out the flames, though there was still a significant amount of smoke.
Grand Design will not honor the warrantee and refuses to take any responsibility for the defect. Potential owners should take extreme caution before dealing with this company.
