While on our 2nd trip with trailer, we noticed a crease in the vinyl floor in front of the fridge. There is an 18" -+ noticable valley in floor. Looks like an obvious flaw in the underlayment. After months of communication with Grand Design, there only solution is to patch the floor. In a high traffic area this would not last and hurt resale value. Also, the drawers by the front door wobbled and banged up against the door frame. This I fixed with heavy duty Blum sliders that had no side to side play. Grand Design does not back their product, we'll never buy their product again.

Owned this camper since October 2024 and use it at least once a month from Feb - Nov. Over all quality of frame and camper itself is outstanding. Everything else is One-star. All components seem very cheap and the installation of them is comparable to a two year old putting an adult jigsaw puzzle together. Nothing is installed, square or attached properly. Counters are bubbled an warped. Plumbing under the kitchen sink is crooked and not connected properly. Drawers and cabinets are low quality with slides falling off, The mount for the camera on the back of the camper is crocked with screws put in at angles then smeared with excessive silicone to hold everything on place. Sliding doors to bedroom fell off after three trips. recliners screwed to the floor 2 inches from the wall on one side 5-1/2 inches from the wall on the other side. Purchased at Blue Compass and the service manger told me he has campers worth $150,000 - 250,000 he is working one he doesn't have time for my cheap camper. Told us he would never own a camper his idea of vacation is as far from camping as he can get. Awning snapped off where it connects to the arm and Blue Compass has been dragging their feet getting it repaired. Ordering $1400.00 arms so I can repair it myself. Starting to review campers of better quality to replace our Gran Design with in three years. I hope Blue Compass hasn't taken over all camper sales. Grand design has called me five times about a recall they want repaired. Blue Compass denies there is a recall. Tried to put me in the middle of the argument, I refuse their calls now. Basically. I am very disappointed with the purchase of a Grand Design.

This travel Trailer is great to tow though i use an equalizer hitch and a 3500 diesel to pull it. Even in very strong winds this trailer pulls very nicely. We have two adult sized special needs men and the bunkhouse is perfect for them. The primary bedroom has enough room when the slide is out to allow dressing in that room. The kitchen and living room are very roomy and makes cooking easy and out of the way of others that are watching tv etc. Only issues we have had is a broken refer latch and a piece of trim fell off inside. This floor plan is perfect for our needs.

We had a 42 foot Alpine, and traded it in on this one, as we planned to travel more and the ease of smaller unit appealed to us. We are retirees, and hoped this would be our 6th and final RV. What a mistake!!! Nothing but problems from the start. First trip (end of September) my feet froze while doing Dishes....the wind was very noticeable under the sink and cabinets. The dealer said the furnace needed a fresh air intake from inside the trailer.... but, the wind was coming in when we were NOT using the furnace! They fixed with spray foaming all the "holes". The sliding door in the bedroom continued to come off the rails every time we moved. There was a freezer tray missing, and the fridge made a God awful noise every time it kicked in! We were told all these noises were normal, yet, never experienced in the 5 other Brand new units we owned! Also, the flimsy little plastic bar that was to hold the fridge doors closed, just bent, and allowed the door to open several times. They offered to "sell" us a latch (are you kidding me!?) We finally fixed it ourselves with a latch used to babyproof cupboard doors!Although equipped with a solar panel, the hot water on demand makes it difficult to boon dock as you use a half tank of water for it to get warm depleting water supply, and filling tanks! There was a screw under the lino in the bedroom, that we fortunately caught soon enough that a hole was not created. Although our vehicles receive radio reception - the indoor radio does not receive anything! Our next trip was to Southern USA in February. We had been on the road for over a week, but it was when we got to California that it was warm enough to just have the screen door open. That s when we noticed the door was falling apart. It was progressively getting more and more difficult to close, and at times it took two of us to actually close it! The bottom corner of the door was cracked, peeling was being hid behind the plate of the screen door. Long story short it took THREE (3) doors before they finally got it right.....and it still is giving us grief. Doesn't close properly. The table had to be replaced because it started cracking.....obviously they stained it prior to it being properly dried. Grand Design finally, in good faith, gave us an additional 6 months warranty - but as this was granted in October, it would run out before we actually got to use the trailer again, so really, was it in good faith? Not! I know there are law suits regarding the frames of some of the models....although our unit isn't listed in the law suit yet, I'm sure it is the problem with the door not closing properly. In any case, I know it wont be our last RV, but will steer very clear of Grand Design, and really any dealership that sells them as our experience with the dealer was about as good as with the manufacturer. Good luck!

This Grand Design is my 7th. This 17MKE is my 3rd. I used all of them for traveling to work sites harvesting. When not working used for camping throughout western and mid western USA and wintering in Arizona and New Mexico. For the most part I was able to fix problems and issues. All trailers I owned never froze up and I remained comfortable. I sold 3 to my workers and they still have them back to 2018. The current 17MKE had an inoperable awning. Dealer fixed it by replacing the circuit and unity board. It does pay to buy local! The 2150 RB was my first and that was repaired local. They replaced Thetford toilet with an American Dometic 310. Yes. I had issues with other models but had to fix myself or call a mobile rv technician because I was harvesting and my time was completely focused on the thousands of acreage to be completed. I am 78 and can’t work anymore. I bought this 2025 17MKE and it’s for sale because of health reasons. Bottom line…Yes! I would still buy Grand Design Products because of the quality and my personal experience with the product! No RV is perfect! I Have seen people with Airstreams with problems! Read the unbiased reviews on other brands. Make your decision on the top 5. Stay away from the Covid era years! The Chinese tried to kill us and they disrupted the world! The USA will prevail because God is still in charge!

We have owned this camper since November 2021 and bought used. We have used this camper 12 times now and had a different issue but once on each trip. First trip, the fridge had a bad wire so could not use. A trip this year, they ran the volume meter wire directly into the grey tank and a screw just outside the tank went into the tank causing a leak. Where i live there is only one grand design dealer so I'm stuck buying parts from them. Ordered a new garage door and ir comes without a lock. No where online could I find details about that. The lock cylinder from the old door is not usable so now I'm forced to order another. I would not recommend buying any camper but especially a grand design. Expensive and not built well at all.

We purchased the unit new in April of 2023 and use it about every other weekend during the summer. After the first couple of trips the door would no longer close and stay latched. If you bump into the valance surrounding the shades, they fall off. On our first long trip the main shade came completely off the wall. It was held on by only two screws that weren't screwed into anything solid. First time we wanted to put the table down for the grand kids to sleep on we found out it is off center by 3/4-inch, one side sits up on the bench. Sliding door to the bedroom kept breaking the plastic support on the floor. After several fixes I figured out the door was not or barely attached to the ceiling, again screws not put into anything solid like a stud. On a hot day you might as well get a motel room as the sewer smell will drive you out. Pulled the vent cap and found the plastic vapor barrier was installed right over the vent hole. Entertainment system has a DVD player which is good for the kids only trouble is, is that it is not a blueray player so I had to buy one of those, I was told that if we want to use the radio, we will need to buy an antenae to get any signal. Open a window, good luck getting it closed all the way. Solar cell, what a joke, we were told we could run the fridge in reduced power mode and all would be good, Nice if you want to park it without power between camping weekends. Just like everything else with this Turd, the Grand Design is Grand Failure. I can't even, in good conscience sell it or trade it in without being honest about the issues. Cheap Chinese junk no quality control.

We looked forever at floor plans trying to find one that would work for teens or adult children. So many have little bunks where they get inside a tube to sleep. Our kids are older so we knew this would not work. We also wanted a big enough floor plan that we could sit inside during inclement weather. I wasn’t initially looking for an island or a fireplace but can tell you that I do love both. This unit has so much storage which is something people complain about often. I love that it sleeps six adults easily. Another thing is that we can all watch one TV together. So often the bunk areas can’t easily view the TV and with this floor plan we can all watch the TV easily. We have had no issues with our unit other than some very small cosmetic things. One of the reasons that attracted us to the Grand Design brand was that they have a really good reputation for a quality unit. I think during Covid when they were making units as fast as they could go (unit years 2021 and 2022) the build quality maybe wasn’t quite as good. We did have an RV inspection done by a third-party before we brought our unit home and I would pay for that again. It gave us peace of mind that all the things worked like they were supposed to before we took it out. It’s a heavy camper so we made sure we had a tow vehicle that could handle the weight. The only thing I wish it had it doesn’t was a king size bed other than that this camper has been perfect. we’ve said many times we’re glad we didn’t buy some of the other floorplans we were looking at because we would have wanted to trade them in already.
