We’ve owned our 2019 Grand Design Reflection 287RLTS for several seasons now, and it continues to impress us with its thoughtful design, residential comfort, and reliable build quality. This travel trailer strikes a perfect balance between livability and towability, making it an ideal choice for extended weekends or even full-time use. Pros: Spacious Rear Living Area: The panoramic rear windows flood the living space with natural light, and the theater seating is incredibly comfortable for relaxing after a day of adventure. The U-shaped dinette offers plenty of room for meals and easily converts into a bed when needed. High-End Kitchen: We love the solid-surface countertops, stainless-steel appliances, and deep sink. The 12 cu-ft fridge (ours was upgraded in 2023) keeps everything cold, and there’s no shortage of storage. Four-Season Capable: With its heated and enclosed underbelly, high-BTU furnace, and ducted A/C, the trailer stays comfortable in both hot and cold weather. It’s well-insulated and holds up well in unpredictable climates. Build Quality: The laminated walls and aluminum framing provide a sturdy feel, and everything still works smoothly after years of light use. Towability: At under 9,000 lbs dry weight and around 33 feet in length, it’s manageable for most ¾-ton trucks. The hitch setup and weight distribution are simple and stable. Minor Cons: Bathroom Size: While functional, the bathroom is a bit tight—especially the shower for taller folks. Limited Exterior Storage: Pass-through storage is adequate but could be more generous for longer trips. Overall, this is one of the best non-bunkhouse travel trailers in its class. The 287RLTS delivers residential-style comfort in a package that’s easy to tow and live in. It’s been a joy to own, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a premium rear-living floorplan.

Grand Design means Poor Execution. Ours had the following defects: Underbelly heater duct was too short and not inserted into the floor. No underbelly heat meant our pipes froze on our first fall trip. Sawdust leaking out of every crevice everywhere. They never cleaned up as they were building it. Also wood screws, and enough spare parts under the cabinets to install a second TV antenna. Kinked hot water pipe. Electric tongue jack wired thru unprotected holes in steel frame. Combined with the fuse failing to blow, there were sparks and burn marks where the wires wore thru. Poor paint job. The frame and stairs were rusting before the first season was over. Surging water pump. 6 months to replace a recalled and faulty Chinese made propane pressure control valve. Undersized battery dead within 2 years. Cheap Chinese made Westlake tires wore out at 7,000 miles. A defective toilet valve flooded the bathroom and there is no way to turn water off just at the toilet. You have to turn off the water to everything. There are no shut off valves to any of the sinks or the toilet. But there was a loose fitting elbow drain under the shower.

I really like the floor plan layout of the unit. The wife loves the cabinets and the pantry. She also likes the wardrobe closet in the bedroom that is the entire width of the trailer. It has a clothes bar and shelves for even more storage. I’m over 6 feet tall and I don’t feel cramped in here, even in the shower. I like that the head of the bed is located in the slide out and runs across the width of the trailer instead of the length, like most trailer’s beds. It even has room at the foot of the bed for a dresser and room to get dressed in front of it, instead of being cramped. The kitchen sink is located against the back of the trailer which gives ample space for kitchen duties and lots of cabinet space for dishes. I also like storage area lights that can be switched to motion detection, which is pretty handy when your hands are full. The light above the entry door can also be switched to motion, which is nice at night, so you never have to enter a dark trailer. One of the things I don’t like is that the kitchen floor squeaks a lot, even when completely level. The bathroom sink could also stand to be a little bit larger and deeper. I’ve only owned the unit for 4 months but I like it quite a bit so far.

Roof blew off last year on 2019. Warranty basically gave us the middle finger. GD certified repair facility said it was a manufacturer defect. $12,000. 00 REPLACEMENT. Next trip out it blew a tire, granted these tires looked brand new. Ripped off the siding on the trailer. Then the outside shower blew a plastic POS pressure water fitting and flooded the entire underneath storage compartment. Had this been a fitting NOT to the outside shower, it would have flooded the ENTIRE INSIDE OF THE RV. I suppose that will be next?!!! This trailer is GARBAGE AND THE WARRANTY IS USELESS.

I finally found this one. All the upgrades to weren't bad either. Lots of space and room to spread out. The inside amenities and upgraded residential aesthetics are great to ,doesn't make it seem to much like a trailer which is really nice since we would be missing that for awhile. Stays quite warm in the winter and very cool in summer. The outside kitchen is great to for the summer.

I have owned a couple of travel trailers over the past 20 years. In 2019, my wife and I purchased a new Grand Design trailer after we became empty nesters. I had the typical new trailer issues and had to interact with an inept dealer repair service in our area. I stated calling Grand Design directly and they were always able to assist me with the few issues we had. My wife and I had put over 8000 miles on the trailer in about 2 1/2 years and had one of the fender skirts crack. I called Grand Design and they shipped me the new skirt. Thats service!! We recently made the decision to go full time when I retire in a little over a year. We had been unofficially shopping for 5th wheels that are more suitable for full time use. After my last interaction with Grand Design, I will go back to them for our full-time 5th wheel. Great support and they stand behind their product.

We have loved our 312bhts. The quality of the trailer is superior to other brands we have owned. If you get a chance I recommend going on the manufacturing tour to see the attention to detail that is put into each coach. We have had great warranty support from both the factory and the extended warranty company. With that being said we haven't had anything major that needed repairing such as the slide-outs, frame, electric, or plumbing but the minor repairs have been handled to my satisfaction. We love the floor plan, enough room for our 3 kids and our 2 four-legged friends. I would definitely recommend both this model (floor plan) and the manufacturer.
