Great Layout, but 3 Years Later, the Quality is a Major Disappointment
Rating: ⭐⭐/5
The Good:
We have owned our 2021 Trail Runner 211R for three years. The floor plan is great and the large rear window is a standout feature that makes the living area feel bright and open. It’s exactly the kind of design that makes you want to buy it on the spot.
The Reality (Poor Craftsmanship Everywhere):
This trailer is used only by my husband and myself. Given how lightly it has been used, the amount of structural and cosmetic failure we are seeing is unacceptable. We are very disappointed in the overall craftsmanship:
Wallpaper & Trim: The wallpaper is crinkled at the windows and peeling at the edges. The trim pieces throughout were cut too short, leaving visible gaps.
Walls & Cabinets: The paper laminate on the cupboard doors is peeling, and wall panels are separating from where they were stapled to the studs. We even have staples popping out of the wall seams.
Electrical & Tech: There is a random HDMI cord sticking out of the kitchen wall that connects to nothing. Additionally, a "TV Mount" sticker was placed between the dining and kitchen areas, but there is no actual mounting board behind the wall in that space.
Mechanical & Structural: The heater is unreliable and frequently stops, requiring us to cycle the system to get it to restart. When standing in the shower, you can feel that there isn't a hard, solid base underneath the entire bottom.
Furniture: The factory mattress is not comfortable at all and had to be replaced almost immediately.
Final Verdict:
The layout lured us in, but the execution is poor. For a trailer used only by two adults, these issues should not exist. If we had seen these quality problems beforehand, we would have purchased something different. We do not recommend this unit for anyone looking for long-term durability.

The king size bed was the main point in getting this particular RV because it’s what we are used to at home. I would recommend it as a first timer as well as for experienced travelers.

Lots of problems. Floor plan is great. Construction and quality, not so much. Under belly started dropping out after we towed it home, (about 20 miles), then down to OKC from just south of Tulsa about 30 miles. Total pull time miles for us 150 miles. (Except when we took it back to the dealership to fix the underside), then back to the RV park where we keep it.
The dealer we purchased it from repaired it. Wall board inside won’t except adhesive hooks for like small wall clocks or anything without peeling off. First time we had it on propane the stove fittings leaked gas out bad. We tightened those up after a near explosion event! 2 years in the refrigerator quit working, hot water gas side quit working, (thankful it was both electric or gas), the thermostat for air conditioning and heating will just quit cycling the air conditioning unit, also the furnace, happens usually on the hottest days or freezing days and nights. Has led to the camper getting very cold or hot if you’re not in it to catch it happening. Replaced the Dometic 310 toilet just this year, leaking around where the pedestal joins the ceramic bowl. You can see daylight around the door frame, the stereo system quit working, the vent fan in the bathroom screen has never stayed on correctly. Let’s see what else. Well that’s about all I can think of tonight. (The thermostat problem has bit us several probably no less than 20 times). When we took it for the under belly repairs told the dealership but they couldn’t duplicate the problem with the thermostat so they wouldn’t warranty it! So, that’s all I have to say about that for now!

Trade in value is a third of what I paid for it. Guess it is just going to eat my money away for a piece of crap

Had to fix light wiring as terminals on the switch were not crimped as they should be. This was before we ever took it out. On the second trip camping the sink drain in the kitchen leaked so under the the sink I went. Found drain fittings not tight. Now I'm a maintenance man and I can fix most anything on it be it's not right. I have not taken it back to the dealer to take care of these things because I have to hook it up take it to work and then drop it off and hopefully get back for our next trip out. That takes my time and gas to do this. Now in their defense I get it. If they don't know the problems they can't make it right. But I bought this brand new and should not have to go through this. So I guess what I'm saying is heartland really needs to look at their quality control. Other than that we like the camper so far.

Bought in Dec 2022. A bit disappointed in some of the workmanship. Found my water lines to my shower and outside shower are reversed. Cold is hot, hot is cold. Did not enjoy finding this out when taking a shower. Drawers in kitchen won't stay shut because the slider. Dealership suggested I just push on harder. One outlet to plug into over couch, why not one at the other end. When pulling the cord, the bottom of my cabinets pulls down because no one put extra finishing nails to keep from happening. I live in my camper and to take to dealer to correct would mean moving . Not a totally satisfied customer but then again understand this is run through an assembly line. As far as overall 3.5. Only pro, the size of bathroom. I would rethink the sliding door. You can easily get stuck in shower.

I’ve owned my SLE25 for 5 years now since new and haven’t had a single issue. It’s quiet on the inside from outside noises like rain or loud campground. It tows wonderfully, my wife who doesn’t like towing our boat doesn’t have any concerns towing the RV. The power awning is such a nice feature to enjoy the outdoors out of the sun and rain. We could t have chosen a better unit.
The only complaint would be the mattress that came with trailer. It’s fine for a couple nights but if you’re planning a longer stay, you’ll be happier with a more comfortable bed. Luckily it is a standard size mattress and was easy to replace.
