Northwood Arctic Fox 22G reviews

We bought our 22G used, installed a Cummins generator in the generator-ready compartment, and traveled the county with her for 4 months. The 22G was perfect for my wife and I. I was able to easily pull the trailer with my 1500 pickup and had no problems for nearly 10,000 miles. I have read some of the negative reviews about Northwoods, however, I have looked at a lot of travel trailers. Most are complete junk. I am sure even Northwoods has their problems but the Arctic Fox is definitely a cut well above the rest. And in my experience with Northwoods, their service has been top notch. Show less

I bought my 2018 Arctic Fox new in Late 2017 from a dealer in Colorado. After getting familiar with it, I pulled it approximately 2,000 miles to Chattanooga Tennesse to begin my new job. After staying in it for about 6 months, I rented a home and stored the unit at my house to later use for occasional camping trips. I also used it over the years for multiple 2-week vacations. I would say that as a result, I know this unit very well, inside and out. After going through some pictures of all my trips, I would estimate that I have probably pulled the trailer over 20,000 miles. I've been coast to coast. From Port Townsend, WA to the Outer Banks for NC. My honest rating today, 05/27/2025: As I intended to use this trailer only for myself (one person), the layout was exactly what I wanted so I give it 5 out of 5 Stars. As far as any repairs, the only thing I've had to replace was a circuit board module located on top of the water heater. Cost was about 50 dollars. I still have the original 4 tires and have yet to use the spare. The air conditioning and heater units work extremely well in this unit as it's not very big. All systems have performed without issue. I like the fact that it's overall width is 8'6" and for that reason, I felt a slide-out was not nessecary. Show less

Purchased the unit new in late 2017. Within 1 1/2 years (just outside the 1 year warranty) the corner jacks failed, the water heater failed, the microwave failed, the shower leaked, the furnace worked sporadically, the range vent failed, the phone bedside phone charger failed, and the heating pad burned a hole in the fresh water tank. Most problems due to faulty wiring at the manufacturer as per the repair technician. The tank heater switches were not labeled and did not illuminate when turned on so there was no way to know if they were on or off, had to have the tech rewire and label. The switches were unprotected in the cabinet so moving objects underway could hit them and turn them on and off randomly, I had to make my own cover. I called Northwood about this, the CSR said "WHEN YOU TURN THEM ON, YOU"LL KNOW THEY'RE ON!!!" Brilliant. That and that the 1 year warranty had expired. I would NEVER buy from Northwood again, shoddy manufacturing and they do not stand by their product. Show less

We just bought the 22g this fall and only stayed in one night before winter set in. When we got it home we were disappointed in the workmanship and quality control. Sawdust everywhere,loose and stripped screws, scratches on woodwork and walls. One speaker did not work only to find it was full of saw dust. Water line crimped and in cold weather impossible to put electric cable back. Welds on the fram have splatter everywhere. Caulking outside looks like someone's first attempt. One good thing at this time the major items work. Show less

Picked unit up this fall have not had opportunity to camp yet, but have completely gone through unit found it to be very well constructed. At the time of purchase I had the dealer put a marine type electrical connection on the trailer so that you have a power cord that you just roll up a store, instead of trying to feed the companies supplied permanently connected power cord back in to the limited spare compartment for storage. I have found this to be very challenging when the weather is cold to get this stored away. Applied DAP spray foam insulation in a number of locations, I.e. Drain piping holes, water line holes, gap through holding tank covers and outer drain line (mouse entered unit through this space). Spar polyurethaned all non finished wood surfaces, under dinette cushions, in all compartments, and draws. Replaced cheap range back splash contact paper with a glass tile one. Have been in the unit at 15 degrees below zero and was very pleased at how fast it heated up with the factory furnace. i had to vacuum up quite a bit of sawdust, wiring debris, electrical stackon's, on the floor where the electrical inverter is, behind the fuse/breaker panel. Will be leaving in a couple of weeks with this unit for a trip down south will post my experience upon returning. Site will not let me leave it without rating livability, will give it a three for now till I spend more time in it. Show less
