2002 fleetwood bounder reviews

Have had this coach for 10 years and still going strong. Had some normal RV issues, but overall it's extremely reliable and practical. A lot of comments on forums about the Freightliner XC chassis ride quality. I have figured it out. I am running Toyo's set to their spec pressure, not 110 PSI, I run 85 PSI in the front, huge change in ride quality. Get your coach weighed and pull the tire chart for your tires you might be surprised. Added Tru Center steering control, added rear sway bar, added an updated bellcrank, changed the shocks and added the comfort ride air control values on all four air bags. Ride quality is night and day, goes down the road straight and true. I have put about 30k miles on this coach and hasn't missed a beat. The HP is fine for the power to weight ratio, can keep up with traffic in the mountains towing a mini van and still gets 10 MPG if you run around 60 MPH. Can't beat it. Show less

Great unit, large fresh water holding tank. Lots of storage inside and out. the workhorse engine and Allison transmission are the best power plant on the gas market. The walk around master bedroom is really the best way to go and the full size queen mandatory if you are 6' or taller. Show less

Overall, not bad. I have owned 2 MCI's and a Prevost. This coach rides like a school bus. The amenities are GREAT! Lot's of storage. Easy to get serviced. Show less

Its been a great unit for us. Good tower. No change in mileage when towing. Very comfortable and very livable. Been great. Has many extras. Especially like the microwave/convection oven and the queen size bed. Show less

In 2004, we purchased this motorhome used. It only had 6,000 miles on it and we were the second owners. It is not what I call a luxury coach but, it is a practical coach with an attractive interior. The solidly built cabinets are light oak stained which doesn't show dust. The floor plan is very livable. There is ample storage inside and out. The mileage averaged between 9.5 to 10 mpg, fully loaded and pulling a tow car. Never a problem driving in mountains. It served us well for 10 years and it's still going but, the human driver is not. Over all this has been a good RV. The only negative I have is the ride quality. The ride is very stiff. The engine is a 8.1 Liter Gm with allison Trans. The engine and trans run great. I bought this unit used in 2012 with almost 38000 miles. I now have 41500 miles. The fiber glass is in very good condition, the roof does not leak. I will buy a air ride on my next unit. This bounder has two slides that work great. Show less

Overall this a great coach, however I do have to say the ride is that similar to a school bus. After owning two bus conversions MCI & Prevost I do miss the ride of the large heavier bus/motor-homes, but the expense trade off is worth the more stiff ride. Show less

Love the layout of the 2002 Bounder. It has plenty of power to cruise down the highway. Show less
