Highland Ridge RV Open Range Light 275RLS reviews

We’ve had our Open Range Light 275RLS for a little over a year. Four stars for livability because it’s livable. One star for overall quality because it is poorly constructed, from the Schwintek slide that malfunctioned initially to the way doors and interior walls were poorly constructed, to the needlessness of the “theater lighting” on the recliners, to the way too small oven that is difficulty to light. To the touch up that needs to be done to some of the finishes (not very long after purchasing). Four stars for floor plan because it’s a pretty good floor plan with the exception of the entrance to the bathroom-too close to the outside door, and opposes the bedroom door, so needs to be kept shut all of the time. Four starts for driving-it pulls pretty good. One star for Factory Warranty/Support- If I could give no star at all that would be what I would give. It’s great to have a warranty, but if the manufacturer doesn’t back it by helping you find someone other that the original seller to work on it, you might as well not have a warranty. Travel trailers are made for traveling., so it’s reasonable to expect that you might not be staying within the vicinity of where the purchase was made. Very shortly after purchasing ours the Schwintek slide malfunctioned. Tried to deal withe Highland Ridge/Jayco, but they were useless. We had to backtrack 500 miles to return to the dealer that we bought the RV from. Show less

We have owned our RV since new in 2018. The first major issue was with the kitchen slide, it would not go back in when the unit was brand new. After having the motor replaced, it works however it continously goes out of synch. It needs support and an extra push when we pull it in. We have traveled the country in this RV and actually love the layout and space it provides. However, the support from the manufacturer is null to say the least. The furniture is now splitting which is a sub par company that the manufacturer works with. We have soft spots in the floor which we have been advised are due to "high traffic" area, not sure what part of a 27' unit wouldn't have high traffic. Bottom line the floor apparently is only warranteed for 1 year so we are on our own. We love RVing and spend months out on the road, so in shopping for our next one we will use these lessons learned to ensure we do not have similar issues. Show less

The trailer looks beautiful but, looks are deceiving. This trailer is a piece of junk. We bought in late 2019 and haven't been able to enjoy it for a full season since we bought it. It went back to the manufacturer...., Twice! The very first time we took it out, the kitchen slide out wouldn't go back in. The dealership sent it back to the manufacturer with a list of problems they felt needed to be repaired. The manufacturer fixed the slide out and nothing else. Of course the manufacturer didn't agree with all of the problems identified by the dealership, and sent it back to the dealership, only to have the dealership reject it and send it back a second time. Since we've had it, the fridge quit working and we've two leaks in the water system. By the time I retire in six years, at the rate it's going, the trailer won't be serviceable enough to take anywhere. Save your money, don't buy Open Range. At just over $4000.00, even the extended warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on. Our first and last travel trailer. We're fed up, we're selling this piece of shit! Show less

We have only used the camper 2 times for a couple of days each. The camper floor plan is set up well. Enjoyed our time out in it. It pulls easy and set up is a breeze. The outdoor kitchen is so convenient. We added the outside tv. Show less

I love this RV. It has been used every day for past 3 years and no problems. Easy to use and could not not be happier with our purchase. The convection heating system is awesome and when hot outside, the max air feature is a real treat. My wife loves the massage reclining chairs and relaxing in front of the fireplace. Show less
