We used the furnace for the first time this week-temps dropping into middle 40's. The furnace has a plastic cover on front. Set thermostat to 70 degrees. furnace came on -heated up the trailer. BUT the heat of the furnace on the PLASTIC COVER gave off a burning smell that gave my wife a head ache. Also SETTING OFF SMOKE ALARM. This happened two mornings in a row. I remover the PLASTIC cover from the furnace. Ran furnace another time-NO HEAD ACHE-NO SMOKE ALARM. Who's brain dead idea was it to put a PLASTIC cover on the front of a furnace ? Temp was only 70 degrees but hot enough to give off a smell to set off smoke alarm...Cover is also warped. We are not impressed with the Element travel trailer-very cheaply made-lousley warrenty.

Dont do it! Gulfstream is the bottom of the barrell in RVs. Nothing but problems from day one. From leaking water lines, bad refrigerator, door hinges falling off, now no hot water. I spend my camping trips trying to diagnose and repair all the issues that are a result of just extremely poor quality and workmanship. Camping world is no help, they take months to do a half assed repair job and come to find out, the problems still exist. Dont make the same mistake I made. Buy anything but a Gulfstream.
