Highland Ridge RV Open Range reviews

As with any new item there are always bugs that require working out. We've had to replace the floor in the dining slide due to water leak the 1st year out, haven't been pleased with it since. Floor after 2.5 yrs became soft not due to water leak, dealer & Mfgr stated common problem with no solution or recommended fix. Furnace had to be replaced 2X in 4 years as well as fridge required service & replace inverter both times within 4 years. Thank goodness I purchased an extended warranty. I won't purchase another. Thor industry that owns open range is only interested in the bottom line and cares nothing about product quality, service, or customer service. I wrote a letter to the CEO/President of the company and my letter was returned unopened and rejected. Every owner has floor problem. Show less

Very, very unhappy with this RV! Have had it in for repairs 4 TIMES for various issues and the problems still aren't solved. From substantial leaks under both sinks to a wobbly toilet, valances loosening from the wall and the inside wall by the bed bowing inward loosening the window frame. Brand new 2023 camper. Never used. Terrible. Warranty covers everything so far but its a lengthy, time consuming process. Never again with this brand Show less

We have owned this unit for a month. Our first outing we learned that there is no gravity fill available. I suppose that is our problem for not noticing this. Subsequent trips we discovered a tear in the couch, the shower strip coming apart, the kitchen drawers misaligned and opening during travel, fridge leaking, door out of square, closet door is warped, dining table broke upon first use, the bathroom sink counter area buckling, screws missing on the exterior metal strips, the battery didn’t work and no reset switch. But, the worst thing was thst the window by the bed was leaking badly. We purchased this in August 2023 brand new but its a 2022 so the window must have been leaking for 2 years. Dealership is telling us that they know there has been leaking because of evidence of water damage but its dry NOW. We asked for our money back. Dearler contacted the manufacturer and we are getting nowhere. We are concerned that there is mold or structural damage but nothing is being done to address this issue. Do not buy an open range trailer of any size. Quality for the price if there was a rating below 0 I would use it. Everything is noticed after a year . Water pump failed shorts in overhead lighting toilet not flushing low water pressure cabinets falling down over sink molding separate at door to bathroom .to much to write about this is my 5th travel trailer an by far the worst. The quality of the construction is poor just staples coming out of the cabinets cabinets falling apart cabinets were not painted thoroughly staples coming out of the wall in the shower paper peeling off the paneling booth seats installed crooked paneling popping out door was bent from the factory does not close properly all in all it’s as if somebody left a new employee alone to put this trailer together the quality of the workmanship is shoddy I wouldn’t buy another open range Show less

Highland Ridge has stood behind their product, as it relates to warranty and any issues that needed factory sign off they were excellent to deal with. The dealership complimented this as well very nicely. The trailer is an excellent setup for full timers the second bathroom is probably my favorite feature, you can keep you bedroom separate and not have anyone going through it to use the washroom. Storage is good the kitchen ahs ample pot and pan storage as well as deep enough cupboards to feel actual plates in it. Show less

worst experience in my life. bought a travel trailer noticed many things wrong. mentioned it to them after they ignored us for a month or longer. then they finally had us bring it in to them in December. been calling, sending emails, no response. then when we call and complain, yes we swore at them it had been 4 months of being ignored, they called us and said it wasn't a good fit because we were rude and we needed to come pick it up and that they still didn't fix anything 4 months later. not one time did the manager call us to see what they could do to make it right with our first purchase. I would love to hear from the owner or director. horrible horrible. Show less

Bought this as our first RV new 5 years ago. It has been a good unit for the most part, but the slide out floor rotted out due to a manufacturing defect. $4500 later we have a new floor and a sour taste towards Highland ridge Show less

We bought this RV new in 2018. We liked the 3X which meant that there was an increse in the insulation. As we stay in southern Florida for 4 months in the winter and visit the eastern shores during the summer, it seemed to be a good idea. Bad idea! The foam that is used in the floors breaks down and you end up with crumbled foam under the floor covering. Very costly to repair! It is a common issue that Thor will not cover after the 1 year warranty is over. The cable operated slides hang up when pulling in the two main slides. The suspension has failed twice now. Spring hanger was only spot welded, broke off from fame. Over $800 to repair. Now an estimate to repair crumpled foam in floor, $3200. Thor replaced the entry door. Now have a 3/8" gap under the door instead of a 1/2" gap. Had to file half the plunger off in the bathroom door to get it to go into the hole in the wall plate to keep the door closed. The mattress that came with the trailer, you cannot sleep on it. Thin, cheap junk. Open the upper cabinet door in the rear of the coach, on a sunny day, you can see the red glow from the outside upper marker light. No insulation there. Too many more problems to talk about, not enough space to cover it all. Just a poorly built, well designed rig. Don't walk away from a Thor, RUN! Unfortunately, I did not learn from the experience with a priorThor RV. My prior Thor was a Super C, and it was poorly designed, poorly constructed. Ford F550 chassis was good, but the camper body was terribly cheap, poorly constructed and we should have learned better than to buy another Thor. Honest opinion. Show less

We purchased the unit in September of 2021 and over the course of a year we actually had it in our possession for less than 2 months. We had issues with water leaking under the shower, 2 of 3 slides not working (one slide got stuck when we were trying to leave an RV park on our way home and stranded us for hours), the heater didn't work (we were living in it while waiting to move into our new house and got a mobile tech to come out but the cabinet was built around the heater and he couldn't get it out to fix it), the water pump wouldn't work, the flooring was bubbling up, the seals on the slides were bad and light could be seen around all of them. After the unit was at the dealer from November 2021 to August 2022, I contacted the manufacturer. They said that they would come and pick it up and take to the factory to fix the slide out that the dealer hadn't been able to. They also said that they would reimburse the cost of the mobile tech that couldn't fix the heater and would extend the warranty for 90 days. After getting the unit back after the warranty had expired, they didn't plug in one of the recliners, there was antifreeze sprayed all over inside the unit which appears to have come from the sink, the bathroom counter laminate is coming off and the water pump wasn't working. They now say that they will only cover warranty items that were identified before the warranty period expired, and won't reimburse me for the mobile service tech because the warranty doesn't cover diagnosis. I was able to diagnose the pump, it was filled with plastic shavings that were sucked up from the fresh water tank but to plug in the recliner, I have to remove both of them and I guess I am on the hook for replacing the bathroom counter material. The manufacturer of the unit in Jayco and in the future I will never purchase another Jayco product and would advise anyone who asks to avoid them. Pros - It tows well and has a good floor plan Cons - Most systems don't work and the quality of work is terrible Show less
