Dutchmen Astoria 5th Wheel reviews

We bought this 2024 Dutchmen Astoria 260rk because of the kitchen - it's a 'couples' trailer which suited us for our first Fifth Wheel. The Dutchmen (and I guess really, Keystone) salesperson guaranteed the craftmanship and warranty. One of the key selling points was the rear camera as, given this is our first RV, we were nervous about taking it through the US. The walkthrough at Arrkann was incredibly fast and I wish I had thought to film it. At any rate, our first trip out was over a long weekend and spending time in the RV, I am now shocked at the poor craftmanship - it really felt like the RV was 'slapped' together. Getting warranty work done at Arrkann has been a huge pain as well - I really believe no one there talks to anyone else in the shop. The rear camera worked for about 20 min after we left Red Deer - and hasn't worked since. Dutchmen (Keystone) is refusing to change it out - and the service person at Arrkann said that Dutchmen (Keystone) knew the camera was faulty at the build stage (and apparently, have now removed the camera completely) - yet they let the 2024 RVs with the rear camera be sold at the RV show. It's been a huge learning for us - will never do business with Keystone or Dutchmen again - unfortunately, just driving the RV off the lot cost us $20,000 in resale value. Do the best, most detailed due diligence when shopping for an RV - and don't just check out the manufacturer - check out the RV dealer as well because working with them can be just as frustrating as dealing with all the defects in the RV. The Astoria fifth wheel we bought last year is the worst camper I’ve owned!! The12 volt fridge eats so much power you HAVE to be plugged in!!! The Gibby box idea is a disaster!!!!! We had a typical warranty whine list after a disastrous maiden voyage that we still haven’t been correctly repaired!! I don’t know what I’m going to do with the camper yet(get rid of), but I sure as Hell won’t buy another one of these!!!! Show less

We bought this Astoria brand new back in June 2023. Had it two days and a limb fall through roof. 6 months later, we finally get it back from repairs. The only issue has been the Haier fridge hasnt worked and had to be replaced, but so far we are really enjoying this trailer. Beautiful interior, great storage and all the comforts to glamp. I had a reese goosebox installed and it pulls like a dream. Overall only months into it, but we love it so far. Would recommend. Show less

Like all the other RV owners say…anything built after 2019 is crap. This RV looks nice but there are pipes that lead to nowhere under the sinks not capped off. The handles to the black tank are hard to maneuver. The microwave died within 10th use of it. The trim is falling off. The tv sometimes works. The awnings squeal and the plastic bits are falling off. The shower floor is already soft. I mean the list goes on. Cheaply made. Really regret it. Show less

Picked it up in Utah. Stay two nights in it on the way home to California. Now I need to go in the shop for extensive rebuild. Most everything is broken toilet won’t work. The walls are falling down construction very poor hope to have it all fixed and on the road soon love the trailer. Just wish they would build it better. Show less

The floor-plan is similar to a lot of 5th wheels and it works well for us. A king size bed, large shower, and plenty of storage for everything we need for extended trips. No issues yet with the quality of the build and included appliances. Show less

We have absolutely loved living in this 5th wheel for the last year. It has plenty of space for the two of us. More storage than we can use. The most important part of beginning this lifestyle was to have a layout that felt like home and this Astoria delivers. Show less

Buyer beware! The Dutchmen Astoria 3553mbp is a piece of junk. I wish I had bought some other brand. The refrigerator doesn’t get below 40. The black tank doesn’t drain. One of the recliners has already broken. Bathroom cabinet door fell off because the screw holes were stripped. Living room a/c can’t keep up during the day. No a/c to the bunk room. I have only been in it 3 weeks. Show less

Love the Floorplan and finishes with the exception of the cabinets. From day one they were falling off! Mounted with 1/2 inch screws?!!! Spending the say today replacing screws. Also fenders are cracking because of overtightening at the factory. Show less

We thought we had found the perfect 5th wheel, great floor plan, beautiful interior, all the features we could imagine and then some... then we took it out on our first trip. We began having numerous issues from the first day... much of the interior wood trim fell off, refrigerator quit, water heater worked on and off randomly so I started off retirement researching problems and doing repairs. Then 2 days ago the water heater shorted out and started a fire! Fortunately I was here when it started and grabbed the fire extinguisher, pulled the pin and pushed the button... NOTHING!!! I frantically began tearing apart the buffet to get to where I could reach the flames and somehow managed to beat the flames out with a piece of wood I tore off the buffet. Through it all the breaker never kicked out and the smoke alarms never went off! Had I not been here we would have lost our brand new RV, pets and all... had it happened in the middle of the night I am certain my wife and I would have perished along with them. After clearing out the smoke I called Dutchman to make a warranty claim and let them know I was heading to the ER for issues with smoke inhalation... if it was my company, I would have at least called a customer that our defect could have killed to check on them and assure I would get to the bottom of all the safety issues and correct them, Obviously Dutchman doesn't feel the same. I don't know what it will take yet to get it repaired and don't know if we will ever feel safe in it again! Show less
