Forest River seems to do no quality control. The builders don't use levels, measures, or other normal means to construct anything. Really poor quality. Ever time I use the RV I find screws scattered around. They don't use high quality anything and don't use adhesive. You have to re screw and glue almost everything . There is no counter space or storage. Overall I would highly recommend that you do not purchase forest river products. They don't even do customer satisfaction surveys and the dealers don't want to fix anything under warranty. Very poorly run company I will never purchase anything from again. Low life's corporate theifs

Our family has thoroughly enjoy camping in the Forest River HW pop up trailer because it is easy to tow, easy to set up and has all the conveniences like the larger and more expensive trailers. The full kitchen with the oven is great along with the outside Bar-B-Q that runs from the 2 LP bottles on the trailer. The hot water shower and toilet is the best feature on those nights when we don't feel like using the campsite bathrooms. The beds are comfortable and the electric heater in the mattress is a nice touch on those cold nights. On our first camping trip using our Rockwood HW we went to Arrowhead Lake in the fall and ended up in a rain and wind storm with 50 mph gust of wind and it weathered the storm amazingly! No leaks, no breaks and no problems! We never worried after that about any concerns with the weather coming through it is so well made and tight that the built in furnace keep the trailer warm and the tent kept it dry! We've loved it because it tows easy. Set's up fast. And provided conveniences to give our family many great camping adventures.

This is a great family camper. A pop-up that you can store in your garage, it has everything you need for state park camping; external shower to rinse off the dogs and kids straight out of the lake, and with our extras, all you need is a generator to go dry camping. With a 15 gallon exterior black water tank and 125 feet of cable to move your generator away from your bedroom and an extra battery, it's ready to camp tomorrow. I'll even throw in a 2 '' receiver hitch to put you on your way. This one spent its winters in a garage and it's summers under a canopy to keep away sun and weather damage. It's a great first time camper, as you don't have to empty your child's college fund to see if this is the fun activity you have been looking for, to make the most of your summers!

The HW296, was my 6th RV. I have had RV's from 19 to 32 feet. I bought into the 2 axle foldable camper idea, because they blend the best of both worlds. This High Wall tracks with the stability of a large towable, but tows like a folding camper. Storage is easier at only 22 feet closed. Fully deployed, 27 feet provides room to breath and enjoy real amenities. The High Wall designs allow for big beds, bathroom, big sink, adequate refrigerator, A/C, furnace, lots of storage and 360 degree views. In 2021, my Rockwood High Wall became the victim of a tornadic cross wind while heading West on I90 in South Dakota. It peeled the top off like a sardine can lid. My insurance company bought me a 32 foot Gray Wolf to replace it, because no High Walls were available. Well, less than 2 years later I am on the hunt for another HW296. They are just that appealing to me. As with any RV, there are pros and cons. However, if you want a low profile towable with great amenities, consider the biggest and best folding camper design in the industry, the Rockwood HW296.

The build quality was horrible. Had to replace lift system after 3 years. The black tank valve Broke off in my hand. Worst of all the front wall of the camper broke away from the sidewall causing the front bunk and wall to peel away from the rest of the camper. I believe it's a design flaw with the bunk end supports. I had high hopes that we would use this camper for many years but was fortunate to trade it in for what we paid for it. Also blew two tires . I feel the tires were at or near there max load carrying capacity. Also had to replace awning pole when one was bent.also microwave became dislodged from it's bracket causing the microwave to fall out.

Firstly, I purchased my unit pre-owned from a dealership. The dealership experience is a separate issue, but my FR experience I will describe that is FR only. I found an inexpensive "standard" equipment item that was never installed, and the CS agent told me that I am not the original owner so FR is not obligated to send me the part because it was missed in the delivery to the original owner. Then, I had a major winch failure and the new electric winch (required to lift and lower the roof) that is a KNOWN equipment failure was ordered and told that it was in stock and would ship within 3 days, it took 7 weeks to arrive. The rudeness of the customer service rep and the lies of the shipping department is the cause of this review. The bad thing is that the unit itself is terrific for functionality, design, ease of use, etc. The disappointing part of this is that FR is a horrible customer experience. If I was as non-responsive to my clients as FR is to their buyers, I would lose my license.

Although, I wish I would have seen the reviews about the Actuator, We are on our 3rd one, they run out in about a year and a half, after the warranty wears off. My husband took the motor apart, it had water in it and had rusted. If I would have seen a review about this known problem, I would have picked a different camper Good Luck

We bought a 2019 Rockwood HW277 in November 2019. Due to Covid-19, we have only been out in it twice. The trailer is roomy, comfortable and well-appointed. There is much we like about the trailer. However, there are a number of things that were unexpected and one was a safety issue. 1. The exterior slide-out kitchen drew out more than the outdoor sink and two-burner stove. Every time we pulled it out, sawdust came with it. When we removed the covers on the inside, we realized that the construction debris had never been cleaned out. Sawdust lay thick on the bottom of the slide-out cabinet. 2. The water flow to the sink and shower was poor. When we opened the cabinet where the water pump was installed, we found a mess of wires and hoses tangled together. The water supply hose was kinked at the pump discharge, restricting the flow. 3. The rear wall of the rear storage cupboard, opposite the washroom, had become detached and fallen down inside the cabinet. When reattaching it, we noticed that the copper tube supplying propane to the furnace was also kinked. Fortunately, it did not seem to impact the furnace operation but does need to be addressed. 4. The bunk end pull strap at the rear of the trailer was improperly installed. The screw securing the strap was installed close to the edge of the webbing and gave way when the bunk was being pulled out. This caused my wife to have a painful fall on our driveway, resulting in an injured hip, hand and forearm. Although not serious, her injuries have taken some weeks to heal. We reported this safety issue to Rockwood and they advised us to add a second screw and washer. We felt this was a totally inadequate solution as it could easily happen again. The screw punctures the nylon pull strap, weakening it. Be on guard regarding the pull strap. 5. The pneumatic cylinder on the slide-out kitchen was installed improperly. It failed before our first outing. This was due to the cylinder rod and mounting bracket hitting the elbow that passes through the trailer floor from the outdoor sink. 6. We are constantly finding random nuts and screws on the counters and floor that seems to appear from nowhere after travel or even opening it on the driveway. We hope they are not important! We did not expect a new trailer would present the number of issues that we have had. We had none of these with our previous pop-up trailers - a Starcraft and a Coleman Fleetwood.
