I bought my Half Pint in March of 2021, and up until today, have loved it and have had no real problems. I did lose my keys, called Yvonne at Pee Wee in Tennessee, and she quickly sent me replacements. Also called a few times with general questions, they always took my calls and answered my questions to my satisfaction. It’s been very easy to tow behind my Ford Ranger, 24.7 mpg hauling it back to Ohio from Wisconsin last year, 2022. Also, while camping in Door County, WI., we had HEAVY RAIN for several days, some tents and campsites were flooded, and I had NO issues with any kind of leakage in my little Half Pint. Only gave livability 3 stars because it’s not the type of camper you LIVE IN. It’s small and efficient and was bought to replace my tent, not to watch TV and take showers in!

This New Horizons Travel Trailer is extremely well built and offers many features that a fifth wheel does not have. Lets look at the pros and cons of a large ( when compared to an equal size and weight 5er) Travel trailer. Pros: Larger size box than standard TT's. Higher height means more storage cabinets and much larger basement storage than either standard TT's or 5ers. All modern appliance's such as Diesel Generators, W/D, 2 Stage Furnace, 100 Gal. Propane tank, 16 Gal. Hot Water Heater, Refrigerator, Center Island in Kitchen, Larger shower, etc. 4 All Hydraulic Slides for more living area for full timing. Basically, anything you want in a 5er you can have in a large TT. A TT will follow the TV much better in tight places. An example would be a Walmart parking lot where curbs are everywhere and turning is tight. With a 5er you just can't turn sharp enough. Why do you think all those semi trailers have signs on the back saying "Caution, this vehicle makes wide turns" ? It's because they can't turn sharply due to the pin placement. What about backing up? Well, yes a 5er can back up sharper due to pin placement and being able to really put the hurt on the tires and rims. Do you really want to do that? Most drivers don't want tire and rim damage so they simply learn how to back up properly and not get into a jam if the first place. Cons: Large TT's will cost more to build. This is due to the fact that it cost more to build more. You will need a larger tow vehicle. This is the primary reason that big trailers are usually 5ers. This is where there is a very common misconception that a big trailer has to be a 5er. Do you know what the largest "Bumper Pull" trailer is? It is 170,000 lbs. with a 30,000 lb. tongue weight. In fact, a standard size "Bumper Pull" equipment trailer is a 20 Ton unit. They tow just fine. You see them all the time going down the interstates. Most all are towed by large trucks. So it isn't that they are hard to tow or unsafe, its just that you can't tow them with little trucks. As far as New Horizons trailers are concerned the majority are towed with at least an MDT like a Dodge 5500 and about half of them are being towed with an HDT, So if you are going to have to get a big truck anyway why not get more storage in the trailer and be able to utilize your entire truck bed for something else. This particular TT is towed with a 4 door HDT Freightliner M112. It is the exact same length and width as a Dodge 5500 except that it is taller, higher, heavier, and of course, costs more. It has air ride suspension and seats. It has automatic air ride leveling, so as you put load on it, the air levels the chassis and no weight distribution hitch or sway control is needed. It also gets better mileage than a Dodge 5500 and fits in the same parking place and has a better turning radius. Not to mention the additional safety of being in an HDT in the event of a collision or a trailer brake failure. Most NH trailers have 3 axles and naturally tow straighter than a 2 axle trailer. This TT is a larger TT than most, however, I have seen a Spacecraft 48 ft. TT that has 4 axles and a 7,000 lb. tongue weight that is towed with an HDT and is 78"ft. long all hooked up. It is owned by a full timing RV couple that do a lot of traveling. These are some of the reasons that all of the large well built TT's are custom builds. Manufacturers are not going to make something that most people can't afford. They don't want to try and overcome the issue of needing the larger TV and the misconception that 5ers are better and safer when they are not. They know that you can tow an equal weight/size 5er with a smaller lighter truck so that is what sells. Its always about the money! Lets be honest here. We are talking about an RV that is probably less than 1/10 of 1% of the RV trailer market so this is never going to be something that is mass produced by any manufacturer. This is for someone that knows what they want and will take nothing less. It is somewhat like a toy hauler in that you can load your toy on your truck, take it to where you want to play, but without having to take your house with you. In the end it is all whatever the owner wants to do and how he wants to travel. Why else would there be so many RV types to choose from?

I’ve had this unit for 3 months now and it’s gone or the shop for a few minor issues. Son bumped or opened the dometic fridge door incorrectly and broke the handle but it was covered under the warranty. Some of the seams where panels meet and where caulking is used is cracking but not a big deal.I think it’s a little expected with my off road use. The shower door screw at the bottom came undone and caused some issues but it just needed a larger screw to keep the frame together. One cabinet hinge is a little loose and needs some adjusting but that’s also expected. The batteries on the wireless switches caused the u to to jot power up so ensure you keep extra 27a batteries handy. The primary structure is very stout I just wished the drains were not in the rear where we have to be careful about departure angles while off road.

Great trailer for the backroads and can go almost anywhere. The articulating hitch takes lets the trailer move independently of the hitch, so you don't have to worry about a ball and hitch disconnecting over rough roads. Drop-in slot for a Domtetic or another cooler manufacturer with pre-wired power and slide out. There is also an exhaust fan in the cooler compartment. Awesome pullout grill and sink. The sink is powered by a Seaflow pump. Quick disconnects for water (hot/cold) as well as propane (hook up anything you desire). Tons of storage and all of it is lockable. The cage is very convenient as it keeps your gear from sliding around but also lets you lock it safely so that no one can get to your gear. The cage also articulates up fon struts or easy access, or you can use the side door. Great pricepoint for these cool little trailers.. 1/3 to half as expensive as some of the other overland brands.

We went to the factory and had the tour. I will admit they build a quality product, but.... WARNING: Before you plunk down that $5000 nonrefundable deposit, have exactly what you want in the contract. We have a handicapped adult daughter and wanted a side mounted Murphy bed built in to the coach. This created "design" problems. As the changes mounted, do did the total estimated price. The just under $200,000 price ballooned to nearly $250,000. We were not out of the design stage and couldn't fathom the change in overall cost. Seriously, I could build the changes for less than $10,000. To add insult to injury we found a vessel sink we loved and wanted the color scheme coordinated with the bath. We bought the $450 sink and had it shipped to the factory. Soon after we decided to end the contract and asked New Horizons to ship our sink to California. We were told they didn't have it. I guess UPS was lieing because the tracking showed delivered. Beware. This is a bait and switch operation that is deceitful and not responsive to reasonable requests. At the time we lived in California and still haven't received our property. I can bet a subsequent customer is enjoying our sink.

We bought a Diamond in the rough brand new from the builder. On delivery there were several deficiencies. These included damage to the unit through shipping. Beyond the bent and broken pieces, the roof leaked at the top of galley opening ang there were several electrical issues. Attempts to deal with the vendor were met with yelling and swearing. After much research and some trial and error I managed to get all of the items fixed. But it was way more of a headache than I hoped for or expected. I had other purchasers reach out to me based on my review on a Teardrop FB site. Seems my experiences were not unique. The FB site itself had even banned this seller.
