Bought the unit new in 2017. Overall decent quality except for the manufacturer missing about 2 inches of seal in the corner of the slide. Water was infiltrating slowly into the corner of the slide from day one resulting in rotting the corner. We had to have the slide totally rebuilt at a cost of over $8000 CAD. Also it always towed like a pig. Very unstable, crappy factory tires and no shocks. On the positive, we were able to camp at -25C with no problem with the water not freezing anywhere.

I have had many RVs. Very high-end models. This Nash 24B is one of the best coaches I’ve ever had. Combined with an off-road chassis, large solar panel, generator, large propane tanks and incredible storage inside and out coupled with top-of-the-line, solid wood cabinetry. Most every RV travel trailer and fifth wheel are” earthquakes on wheels” . This requires you to tighten up and re-screw things on a regular basis. Because of the chassis with leaf Springs and shocks, we’ve never had to do this. The floor plan is well thought out. Separate bedroom, dining table, conversion, and bunkbeds. Make this Coach very comfortable for six people. The cabinet space and counter space are better than any coach I have ever seen for a 24 foot model. The slide out is 4 foot deep making it very big and comfortable to full-time. It’s a Boondock model. We can Boondock for 10 days lavishly without having to go back to the store. Major Glamping. Very sophisticated model built in Washington. We traveled from Florida 3500 miles to acquire this. I don’t know of any other full-time RV that you can rock crawl down riverbeds to your destination, other than with this coach.

Looking at the specs, the Northwood Nash 17K seemed the best for our 3-season use. We bought a new 2022 one, after it sat more than a year on the dealer lot. It came stripped from some parts, apparently used to retrofit other trailers. Many manuals were missing. Electrical: 0 out of 5 Trouble since first night, as the Jensen DVD/radio LCD was brightly shining over the bed, even when switched off. The solar controller, Zamp ZS30-A, also installed above the bed, flashes for several minutes at sunrise, not a bug, just a poorly chosen location for placing it. Do Northwood Nash ‘Engineers’ ever sleep in their developments? The 75Ah deep cycle group 24 battery discharges completely overnight, after full charge, even when everything is disconnected. Seems this trailer features many ‘dormant’ loads like detectors, radio, antenna, 2-way fridge. A single battery is not enough for this “Off The Grid” trailer. …The ‘generator box’ is small, meant only for an Onan 2.5k. Unnecessary number of bright LED lamps (6 in + 6 out) for a small trailer. Plumbing: 3 out of 5 It is hard to find where the taps for winterizing are located with the manual, written for all Nash trailers, 5th wheels and campers, not just ours. After some spelunking, we found the antifreeze tube hidden under the fridge, and that a drawer needs to be removed to access it. We did not experience other issues, beside the blinking lights when the pump is running. Furniture: 3 out of 5. Quite some sawdust dropped from the furniture as we travelled. Over torqued screws went loose and were replaced by larger ones. The edges on the hardwood shelving by the bed were very sharp, and needed sanding to avoid injuries. Not so well crafted… The thick spring mattress too wobbly, unpleasant as it is not a walk around bed. Construction: 2 out of 5 There are rust bubbles on the A-frame, as the thin painting was done without adequate prep. As the door got wobbly, it started to show a half inch gap without insulation between the door and the wall. The door polyester shows 3” bubbles – delamination outside and inside. Another gap blows cold on the side of the bed. The bug meshes for windows are not built ‘square’ and do not fit. The ‘generator box’ is not airtight with the cabin, we patched the gaps inside to avoid smells coming from the jerrycan stored in it. The power jack rated for 3500lb max, as this trailer is 7400lb loaded (the jack needs also to lift the rear of the tow vehicle for easier fitting the WDH). Floor plan 3 out of 5 For 4 seasons use, we do not want a slide out, and the Nash 17k is one of the few insulated trailers without slide. After several weeks of use, we find the bathroom rather wide and would have instead preferred a somewhat larger passage by the range. The storages under the beds are difficult to access, with the heavy/thick mattresses. Appliances and others: 4 out of 5 The fridge is only a two-way not a three-way, contrary to what is stated in the manual. The fridge doors are not level, need adjustment. BTW Nice to have ample propane tanks. Furnace is OK, even its control by the tiny thermostat is not practical.

The 28F tows terrible, it has terrible sway. I tow with a 1 ton truck and this is the worst towing trailer i have ever had. Please note i have owned at least 8 rv's and been towing for over 25 years. The fan in the bathroom cannot be reached without a stool. The shower floor in the bathroom had so much flex in it it leaked and had to be sent back for a new floor with more supports added. The plumbing under the sink in the bathroom was a mess where it goes through the floor and should have been sealed better. The wires at the hitch were not strapped up and protected properly and had to be fixed. I could live with this if it towed better. Its now for sale.

So this review is a follow up to my last review with regards too the Norcold Refrigerator....i had to replace the entire cooling unit...my unit didn't survive a freezing winter being plugged into shore power. Something else I have learned...not sure this is by design or a design flaw but you cannot use the slide out even if you are plugged into shore power without the batteries hooked up....has to have 12v and won't receive 12v from the converter. Another resent failure was my highly rated Dexter axel brakes.. they failed after about 6k miles. The brake linings have separated from the brake shoe damaging one drum...all brakes had to be replaced. On a positive note the couch is well made but some major parts have failed way too soon for a highly rated new trailer.

We bought the trailer new in Spokane WA and took it home to Ohio. Since then we taken it to Fort Myers Florida and many points between Florida and Northern Ohio, not to mention a couple trips to Northern Michigan. With travel trailers expect to have a hick up here and there, it’s common with moving a box on wheels. Speed bumps, pot holes, quick stops for reckless or drifty drivers finding enough space to cut in front of you. As for this 26N - it is the best and can stand proud beside an airstream, without the price tag. Trailers well, rugged and very well designed. Floor plan is efficient, and the included equipment is durable. It’s a great 4 season rig - we tested it down in the teens through Montana to the full Florida sun. Go with the LP 3500 watt onan genset and solar - it really works! When storing use a cover and we even put 1/2” 4x8 sheets of pink foam insulation on the roof and under the cover for those oh by the hail storms that sometimes frequent Ohio - works well and provides great ventilation- preventing mildew and extends life of chalking. If your slide gets cocked (caused by not holding in/out button couple seconds after slide stops - stopping in between interfere with auto sync between motors) just extend til it stops and retract in 10” and stop - then extend again - do this at least 3 times and poof - the motors re-sync and done. So don’t get scared off by the negative ninnies - this is a quality rig and it’s on the best frame in the business! Built to go off grid. How important is a frame? Very, a substandard frame will cause corners to loosen and separate - I’ve seen it on a fifth wheel and I felt sorry for that owner. You won’t see that on Northwoods frame. There’s is more I could say good on the Nash, like grease fitting on easy lub hubs (money saver on bearings and spindles), springs and shocks (give great ride and stability), trailer brakes are durable (two years of use and still strong - I use them often to counter cushion effect from truckers passing - just use brake controller to apply a little brake as semi sucks it in and poof it settle out with no worries). When you do your first chalking - run a bead over the horizontal of the rock guard and you’ll never have the issues the one reviewer had with moisture (I haven’t had to rechaulk yet and everything is dry so far. So to close - we love our rig!

We often stop for lunch along the way to our destination and can access the kitchen and bath without opening the slide. We seldom use the generator with the extra solar panel. Camping is great in the winter months since the trailer is so well insulated. The only downside is the weight - GVWR is 10,000 pounds. This was my dream travel trailer and still is.
