I have not owned my BT 5240 long. I have not camped in it, but the floor plan is fantastic considering the size. I have owned 18 - 35’ tow behind travel trailers & my last RV being a gas 38’ class A. I towed my 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited cross country with ease in the Class A. I did a drive with the BT towing same and did not like how the BT handles. Without towing it is a pleasure to drive. I feel the wheel base is too short for towing a vehicle that is about as long as the RV when you add in the length of the tow bar. When entering a curve there is a bit of a delay then it dives in whereupon you have to counter steer. If I find there is something I can do to correct this negative attribute I’ll edit this review. That said, I won’t be towing with the BT until then. Quality is average. While winterizing I found to sharp wood screws securing framing gouging the water tank 😠. Half the screws holding the rear lights were coming out because they were not long enough to bite into the fiberglass shell. Why aren’t tank heaters standard equipment ?

We owned a 2006 BT Cruiser for almost 15 years. She was overall a good motorhome; finish was decent and good quality fabrics & counter material in kitchen. Layout was perfect for a couple; while it could technically sleep 6, really it only slept 4 unless they were children. Factory support was terrible; had a roof leak in less than a year and when uncovered, was able to document issue stemmed from failure in building process but never was even acknowledged by factory. We paid for repair ourselves (over $1K) used Dicor religiously after and did not have any repeats. Also had long running electrical issue with storage batteries not holding charge long-term, but simply dealt with it. Averaged 10mpg overall, no major issues with tanks, slide outs; really, she held up well overall and was very comfortable to stay in. Generator was a concern as it was a Generac and parts were impossible; we considered swapping for an Onan but sold the unit. Would not buy a used one if it has the Generac--you will not get parts!

For a 1st time RV, this unit served us well. Unlike most folks, we too our shake-down trip as part of our 5-month road trip out west because we had a time constraint. We had a list of 14 relatively minor items that needed adjustment within the warranty period. We hoped to find a dealer in route to service any items that became problems. The truck with V10 engine worked great. The coach layout was just what we wanted. It was easy to live in. Over time, the rear slideout would stick while moving it in or out. We self-diagnosed thanks to Google searches and determined one of the motors wasn't operating properly. We also had a problem with the rear levelers snagging on roads at times. And the water pump would occasionally act up. When we were in Phoenix for a while, we found a dealer who worked with Gulf Stream to fix the slideout and replace the water pump with a higher quality one. We also had the rear levelers moved as they were installed too far back and low on the frame. Once they were repositioned, life on the road became much easier. The mfr. customer service dept. did work with us on most items. I do think the mfr. and selling dealer could benefit from being more focused on customer satisfaction upfront; they would spend less time on issues overall. We planned to sell the RV on our return because we don't intend to make this our new lifestyle. Once in a lifetime trip.
