Grand Design Travel Trailer reviews

The Imagine 2600RB is an excellent travel trailer, especially for someone relatively new to the RV lifestyle. It is big enough for comfortable camping/living yet easy to tow and maneuver on the road and in campsites. The heating/air conditioner system works very, even during an intense summer heat wave in Arizona. The master bedroom is roomy and cozy and has storage under the bed. The living area sofa folds out into a bed and the dinette can also be converted to a bed. There is plenty of interior storage space. The kitchen is compact and functional. The tankless hot water heater provides near-instant hot water. The pass-through storage is large enough to hold trailer accessories, camping equipment and other gear. The 2600RB uses two gray water tanks and one black water tank. Show less

I really like the floor plan layout of the unit. The wife loves the cabinets and the pantry. She also likes the wardrobe closet in the bedroom that is the entire width of the trailer. It has a clothes bar and shelves for even more storage. I’m over 6 feet tall and I don’t feel cramped in here, even in the shower. I like that the head of the bed is located in the slide out and runs across the width of the trailer instead of the length, like most trailer’s beds. It even has room at the foot of the bed for a dresser and room to get dressed in front of it, instead of being cramped. The kitchen sink is located against the back of the trailer which gives ample space for kitchen duties and lots of cabinet space for dishes. I also like storage area lights that can be switched to motion detection, which is pretty handy when your hands are full. The light above the entry door can also be switched to motion, which is nice at night, so you never have to enter a dark trailer. One of the things I don’t like is that the kitchen floor squeaks a lot, even when completely level. The bathroom sink could also stand to be a little bit larger and deeper. We love our 297! It is extremely comfortable and spacious, from the multitude of large windows with the heated, massage recliners in the livingroom to the queen size traditional mattress in the bedroom. On cold mornings it is wonderful to make a cup of coffee or tea and sit in front of the fireplace as you plan out our day. Of course, if you prefer, you can just turn up the heat to feel warm and toasty throughout the unit. The kitchen has everything you need! Plenty of counterspace with a large sink with gooseneck faucet and sprayer is adequate for anything you want to wash or prep. We travel for weeks at a time and have adequate space in the refrigerator, freezer and cabinets for all of our meals. The indoor stove/oven and the outdoor propane stove are very convenient. The microwave/convection oven is fabulous for preparing quick meals. There are also a lot of electric outlets for any convenience appliances you use. The wood dining table and 4 separate chairs are very comfortable and can be used in the living room or outside when you have a lot of guests to seat. Both the table and two of the chairs have smaller spaces for storage. The bathroom is spacious and there is plenty of storage for towels, personal products and cleaners. The glass shower doors are easy to clean and make the space feel open. Sitting outside surrounded by nature under the awning watching sports or movies on the TV, or listening to music from the outdoor speakers with drinks in the small refrigerator just a couple feet away is incredibly relaxing. The basement passthrough holds a lot of equipment and is easy to access. Show less

This is my second GD trailer. Upgraded from an 2019 Imagine which was poorly made. Many screws stripped on side panels and skirting. Put together with Gorilla tape to get home. Trailer just out of warranty so all repairs out of pocket. Now have 2024 Reflection 297RSTS. Very easy to pull. Better construction than the Imagine except the latch to hold shower door very flimsy. Came loose during travels and glass doors shattered. AWNING MOUNTED TOO LOW. Sharp corners of slideout cutinto awning when being extended or retracted. Had to contact NC State attorney General office before GD would answer any emails. No resolution yet, Took away outside lighting replaced with speakers. It is so dark you can not see stairs at night. This has to be one of family camping's best layouts - a separate room for the kids on the opposite end of the camper! Two bedrooms, sleeps 9 comfortably. A residential Queen bed in the primary bedroom, and three bunks with storage for the kids. Indoor and outdoor cooking stations. Lots of interior storage and cabinet space. Plenty of counter space for prep, and a great banquette for family meals and perfect for movie nights with the included 32" TV. Easy streaming devide hookups, and comes with a DVD player and radio with two zone speaker system. Two refridgerators (inside/outside) for convenience. Tons of light from two big skylights. Windows that open and 4 vent fans for great circulation. Roomy bathroom setup with plenty of storage and a shower tall enough for your your biggest campers. Great storage space under the primary bedroom that goes all the way through for your camping gear. AC/Heater works very quickly and has been tested in many seasons. Plus all the great small features of a Grand Design camper - strong stairs, magnetic latches on storage doors, EZ-up Queen bed for access to storage, vents in sidewalls (not the floor) to avoid becoming dust-traps. Tows great with tanks empty or full. Power jack for quick setup. Ladder for easy access to the roof. Spare tire included. Show less

We purchased this in August of 2022,absolutely love it except for the very inadequate schwintek slide system. Nothing but ongoing issues after about 3 months. Setember 2023 we finally decided to bite the bullet and replaced it with the much better designed Vroom system. Now enjoying our TT with no more worries about if the slide will extend and retract. Bought my trailer new in 2023. Since then it has been in the shop for almost 7 months, and now they want me to come pick it up without a clear expectation of when the work is to be done to start fixing the cabinet thermofoil problem. All the thermofoil on the cabinet stiles are delaminating and GD and the manufacturer of the stiles are debating who’s at fault. I don’t care who’s fault it is as my warranty is through GD not their subcontractors. They claim on their website that warranty approval is completed within 24 hours. . . . really? Where is my customer service? Furthermore, I’ve been told the trailer may have to go back to the factory for this work. Seriously, when do you think I’ll see that trailer again?? Show less

If I could give zero"s I would. We were warned not to buy a trailer made during Covid due to inexperienced workers making the trailers. We spent extra money and bought a 2024 model. It didn't matter. Travel Trailer is all of 4 months old. 1) Door latches do not work. 2) Refrigerator broke before first use and had to be replaced. 3) Trailer was sent from factory with solar panel wired incorrectly. ( No quality control) 4) Bathroon sliding door fell off the brackets and screws stripped due to only one door guide installed. 5) Heater/furnace did not work on a cold morning on the trailers second trip. (Again, zero quality control) What will break on this POS next? If you are looking at a Grand Design, run as fast as you can. Show less

My wife and I purchased our Grand Design Reflection on 11/14/23 form Brown's RV Superstore in Mabee S.C. This is our permanent home now. So far so good. The problem has been attitude dealing with customer service at Grand Design. We have only rolled out our awnings three or four times and the main awning has a tear in it. I sent pictures to the dealership and was told to contact Grand Design. My wife called and talked to Davida Horner and she was very rude to my wife. Then I talked to Davida Horner and she was very rude and short with me. I'm sure the seventy thousand dollars we spent is not a big thing to a company this size but that's a lot of money to us. Davida Horner did not try to help in any way. We kinda thought maybe they would kinda give us a little help but no. We really like the rv except for the build quality. It has been back in the shop more days than we have actually used it. We have had to replace a slide motor and the awning two shades the two grey tanks will not totally empty unless you are on a down hill slope. And now we just pulled it in the rain and had a puddle of water at both bottom corners of the slide. And we also have cold air coming in from the corners of the slide. Our last trailer didn’t have a slide and I was concerned about the fact it might leak but slides have been around for a long time so we tried it. And now wish we didn’t have one. Show less
