Forest River 5th Wheel reviews

Our experience has been very good. It has enough room for a couple of grandboys and a dog. The open concept of the living area allows us to move around while food prep and lounging around. It really works for us as a pair of retirees and a dog, failing eyesight is not going to allow us to continue to travel safely. This 5th wheel is great for retirees or a small family, as it has 2 slide outs and a simple control panel for managing the various components of the trailer. Its setup uses auto leveling control and large, heated water tanks, which makes it sturdy and livable. Inside the trailer is a 50” TV/Entertainment System and an awesome electric fireplace, which gives off great heat and provides an awesome fireplace view. The RV comes with a 23” Blackstone griddle which hooks up on the outside, as well as a TV hookup. The trailer comes with containerized water and waste hoses and connections. Will provide great camping experience, especially for the novice. Show less

I bought the trailer while still active duty in the military in 2015. We had been living in a 32 ft Denali, which leaked air through the slide-outs bad enough you couldn't keep even the largest of flying insects from coming through the gaps. I chose Cedar Creek 38 CK because it had the washer and dryer in the bedroom slide out, which makes for a much roomier front closet and overall floor plan in the bedroom. As convenient as this seemed at first, it turned out to be a problem which required the slide out floor and external floor to be replaced. Although I have had to make numerous small repairs and modifications on a fairly regular basis (everything from replacing the sliding tracks on the pantry and garbage compartment drawers, replacing the ceiling fan, repairing and replacing the fireplace internal components, to placing angle iron braces underneath the floor to keep the plastic under- compartment panels from falling off while driving down the road) . Since purchasing it I and my wife have lived in the trailer primarily full time, and I must say, that overall, we really like this trailer. The overall quality of the trailer seems to be excellent in comparison to most other fifth wheel travel trailers I have both owned and observed. It holds heat really well, even in the most extreme winter weather. I did end up putting vents around the base of the bed, and in the steps leading up to the bedroom in order to allow for warm-air circulation which definately helps to keep poorly placed water lines from freezing. Likely, the biggest problem I have had is a premature aging of the roofing material. As I could not afford the convenience of a once in a lifetime fiberglass treatment, I simply coated the entire roof with three thick coats of white Flex Seal. So far, it seems to be working. Although the roof never leaked, it certainly would have had I waited much longer. The factory rubber roofing material is supposed to last at least 10 years, it barely made eight. It was developing soft spots and a rough enough texture that it couldn't be cleaned easily without risking tearing the material. Every time I have spoken to the factory about any type of repair or problem, they have always told me I need to bring the trailer to them. This seems to be an avoidance tactic that has worked well enough for the company that they continue to do it. Show less

This floor plan is great for families or if you want to have a separate office space to work remotely. This camper sleeps 9 easily and comfortably. The higher BTU units (2) keeps the camper nice and cold on those warmer days. The garage storage is huge. Also love the 2 refrigerators and ice maker in the outdoor kitchen. The fireplace in the living room can be set to look pretty, but also can be used as a heat source, wonderful on the chilly nights. The control panel's ability to work with the app on your phone is very handy, can check your tank levels, battery levels, control awnings and all the lights. We also enjoy the solar panel which charges the batteries. Highly recommend this camper! Show less

So we bought are first travel trailer. But found out the manufacturer used pex type fittings for nylon braided hoses. Which produces leaks, I’m not happy with poor workmanship, if you should it right way before selling. Seems like you’re just out to make a buck. So no I’m not happy with their trailers. Show less

We really like best Riverstone legacy but big problems came up the whole coach started delaminating. For $150,000 you think Forest River would cover this but that's a no. You have no choice but to get rid of the coach and hand that problem off to somebody else. I will never buy a Forest River product again Show less

We purchased our 2019 Sandpiper 379FLOK in August of 2018. At first we loved the floor plan and the hydraulic leveling system. When the dealer tried to show how the hydraulic system worked, it overloaded and threw the breaker. When we picked it up in August of 2018 we only had a few items that needed attended. The doors on the bathroom and pantry were already peeling the edges and the slide room floors on the outside showed scrapes where the rollers were bringing them in and out, these were noted on the sales papers and we gave the dealer 1 week to repair. Nothing had been done when we took possession of the unit. We packed it up and started out for Texas from Bartow Florida. That evening, first travel day, the landing legs would not extend and we could not get it off the tow vehicle. That caused a 5 day stay in Tallahassee, FL while their trained staff of mechanics tried to figure it out. We arrived in Texas 9 days after starting out. Setting up we noticed the bedroom slide wouldn't come out all the way to seal the room. 10 days later, the heater stopped working and the closest Camping World was over 70 miles away. Called them for mobile repairs, they didn't offer any. Next month the awning went out, coming back in it bent the awning arms because the fabric rolled up crooked on the tube. Then the recliners (2) stopped working, no heat or massage. Then the converter failed, no 12 volt system, no lights or computer to operate the rest of the RV. The toilet water supply valve sprang a leak, the bathroom fan stopped working cause the blade cracked and fell off the spindle. Then the black tank fell out of the frame, causing a bulge in the belly covering. When it leaked out the sides, thats when we knew something was wrong. After getting a couple of people to help remount the black tank inside the frame, we called warranty again, no mobile service available. Then the Fireplace stopped putting out heat, the microwave inside just stopped working. Tried different electrical recepticals, no luck. The thermostat stopped working, no a/c or heat. The outside kitchen faucet would not turn off, causing immediate replacement by us. The front landing legs started leaking down the legs, the bedroom slide cylinder was leaking on the ground. We were adding 3 quarts of fluid to the system every month, it was going somewhere. Now the hot water heater has a weld crack at the combustion chamber and extended warranty wants us to wait till they can send out an inspector in 4-5 days. This was our 4th purchase of 5th wheel RV, most disappointed with Forest River for lack of quality control. Show less

Looked great when I saw it a few yrs ago..regreat buying it..2021 artic wolf 291RL..floor spongy, ac flow horriable..headboard pulling away from bed and cabinets exposing staples..poorly put together..scraping my hands while I sleep and huge gap between bed and front of trailer...lost a pillows down there...warranty won't fix it..not surprised!!!!...it's their poor workmanship that caused it not me, so they said to deal with it. This has been a nightmare since day one. Everything is cheaply made, no storage inside the rv, the bunk house has no ac and yet the vent from the water heater goes directly into the bunk house making it unuseable as a bunk house. . The front a/c is not powerful enough to cool the rv in the summer months. Holes for the electrical wires and plumbing are so big that rats find it extremely easy to get into the rv and wreck havoc with the wiring,paper thin walls. The shower walls are not sealed at the bottom so water seeps down. Be sure you get an independent inspection of the rv prior to signing a contract. Dealership discourage this as if there is anything wrong they are responsible to fix it if you wait warranty might fix it but it is a long wait and you will be responsible for paying what warranty doesn’t cover. We have had this RV for almost 2 years. It tows great and is very stable on the road. Over all quality is great and has held up well to me, my wife and our 18 year old daughter. Plenty of room and very very cozy. Four seasons package makes winter a breeze. Overall a great RV. We just bought a new house so priorities are elsewhere now. Show less

The best camper I've ever owned! I love this thing. 1) It is HUGE. Lots of room - it sleeps 9, so for an empty-nest couple and a small dog, it is like a home away from home. 2) The garage is amazing. I put a home office in there and used the half bath like it was my own little place. I worked while my wife lived the carefree camping life - watching Netflix, walking around in the wilderness, etc. 3) A king bed was a must for us, and this one was fantastic. 4) A washer-dryer connection was a must for us, and this one has it. 5) New things in 2022 and around then: tankless water heater (amazing), solar panel for battery-powered fridge. Keeps food cold while driving. 6) Everything is designed to be off-grid; you can completely function in this thing without even powering up the generator. 7) The generator is built-in and there's a 30 gallon tank so you really can go anywhere. 8) We are not toy people, but the garage is huge, with plenty of tie down rings, and there's a fuel station outside so you can gas your toys up like you are a gas station!
