We purchased a one year old RV in June 2020. They promised it had an inspection and all units worked properly. As we drove it off of the lot, a large amount of water came leaking out of the AC vent. We drove it right back in and showed them. They promised they would fix it after we got back from our trip. During our trip, the water continued to leak from our AC ducts and the unit itself. We had to use buckets to catch all of the water as it leaked. I took videos of the leakage and sent it to DDRV.
Upon return, we took the RV to DDRV. They kept the RV for three days and told us they could not re-create the leak. They stated that we were running the AC too low for the temperature outside and that the condensation was freezing in the pan, causing the leak. We worked with that and winter came. We use the RV on and off, but did not utilize the AC. In June 2021 we took our RV on a 2 week road trip. The leak became worse and now water was coming out of the light fixtures.
Upon return, we took the RV to another RV service team. They looked at the AC and immediately noticed that there was a downward slant in our roof where the AC unit rested. They also were able to see the water leakage from the roof to the areas where the leaks were. Our ceiling inside the RV now sloping from the leak.
I contacted DDRV and spoke to Matt Storm, Service Manager, to inform them of what was found. I was told that due to it being a year later there was nothing they can do. Remember, we notified them of this issue the same day we purchased the RV. I was also told that the used RVs were sold as is. I explain to them that if we would have known that it was a severe roof issue, we would have never purchased the RV. If the roof was the issue, it should have been located upon their inspection prior to selling. It should have also been caught the month after we purchased the RV.
Matt stated that their service guys have 30 years on and they would have caught any of those issues. I explain to him that our other guy caught that within two days. Either, Matt was lying stating that his workers were experienced, or they didn't want to locate the issue knowing that it was a major roof problem. Matt's advise, go through insurance. We unfortunately get stuck with the deductible.
This is the first RV we have purchased, and unfortunately we are not happy with DDRV. I've tried working with them to resolve this issue, but still they are trying to divert the damages onto us. If you are looking at purchasing an RV from them, I would take somebody who knows RVs to look at every equipment within the RV. Also, if you're having any issues, immediately take it to another RV place to have them diagnose the problem ASAP.
I know we will be upgrading our RV in the future, but it will not be with DDRV.
