My husband and I purchased a 2017 Fleetwood Bounder 35K from Cold Springs RV in Weare, NH on September 18, 2021. We put $23,000 cash as a down payment. Total cost of the RV was $115, 000. This Class A Motorhome has a current, legal, inspection sticker on it. On the drive home, we noticed some strange noises and the RV didn’t seem to handle very well. It felt like the dashboard was going to fall off in my lap while driving it. The front left corner of the dashboard was making a funny noise, also. We contacted the dealer immediately. They scheduled an appointment for us to come in and they would take a look at it. About a week after we picked up the RV. We brought it back. They gave us a complimentary night in the campground. The next day, they said they just needed to tighten some screws in the dash and couldn’t replicate the other noises we complained about. The salesman, Joe, told us they all make these noises. He told us to get a dash cover and that would help quiet the noise. We took the RV home and parked the RV in our driveway located at 743 Brighton Hill Road, Minot, ME. We did not use the vehicle until December 23, 2021. We packed up and drove to Florida to visit my father for Christmas. On December 24, 2021 we stopped to rest at a truck stop. The motorhome is equipped to be self-contained and has a generator. We started the generator, turned on the heat and went to bed. I woke to a terrible smell and felt nauseous, dizzy and confused. I turned off the generator. I've had carbon monoxide poisoning in the past. I am very familiar with the feeling. I opened the windows. My husband got out of bed and drove the motorhome to get some fresh air into the cabin. We went to an urgent clinic. There was a 3 hour wait. The clinic had many people waiting inside. I decided to go outside and wait to be called, on my phone, to be seen. My husband and I fell asleep. I woke up approximately three hours later. I felt better. I went in to be seen. The clinic charged $275. 00 to see me. I decided against it and left. I was feeling better. We contacted Cold Springs RV to let them know what happened. They told us to bring the RV in to have it looked at. We returned from Florida on January 14, 2022. The RV was delivered to Cold Springs RV on January 22, 2022. The RV is still there today, March 22, 2022. We received a work order to perform many issues with the RV. The same issues we reported when we first purchased the RV. To give an idea on issues that need repair that the Pro RV Service Center submitted to us are: Dash, Shade (fell off during driving it), screws falling out everywhere, carbon monoxide detectors faulty, steering stabilizer faulty, bedroom slide control pad broken, the dash AC blows hot air on the drivers feet, sound from left front end, generator exhaust needs to be rerouted, Three recalls I’ve already mentioned in this report. Most importantly, there is a recall on this RV. The recall is for the generator exhaust pipe. It leaks carbon monoxide into the cabin. This recall has been active since January 2020. On the repair order it states that the carbon monoxide detectors need to be replaced. I have documentation from the Rev Recreation Group that confirms the recall was never completed. I also have a repair order from Cold Springs RV Pro RV Service 48 Colby Road, Weare, NH 03281 that states the carbon monoxide detectors need to be replaced and the sales department is picking up the repair cost for the replacement of those detectors. This repair order has a cost of $5,354.84. Part of this repair cost is damage to the body, which we own. That body repair is $3,161.40. That would be our responsibility. On this repair order from Cold Springs RV Pro RV Service Center, there are other recalls that have been active since January of 2020. The tire placard is incorrect which allows for improper tire size and can cause a crash/death. The satellite dish on the roof is not fastened correctly and can become disconnected and fly off the roof, which can also cause a crash/death. I have made Cold Springs RV and Pro RV Service aware of all of this. Apparently, according to their repair order, they are aware also. They attempted to charge us $450 to repair the generator exhaust pipe leak. They also told us they can’t do the recall repairs they have listed in the repair order. We would have to take it to a Fleetwood dealer. So, this RV dealer sold us an unsafe vehicle with a current, legal inspection sticker, that could have caused the death of my husband, two dogs and myself.
