1999 Airstream Land Yacht XL 355

4.6
My Airstream 35' Land Yacht cummins/Allison Freightliner chassis is remarkable. The LP Onan allows for residential propane hookup for months of self sufficient power supply. Add solar and your set for backup power. 50 amp power hookup, interior with solid wood cabinets, wood flooring, dual AC's, dash inverter with new cooling system, massive interior and exterior storage, queen walk around bed, front to back stereo speakers, large tv's in lazy boy electric seating lounge area and massive kitchen and dining area make for the perfect mobile retirement home. In process of a full restoration project to create what I personally consider the hallmark of motorhomes.

Airstream is the best. I bought this 39ft diesel motorhome as a single woman and have managed with no problems. The quality and craftsmanship of Airstream is second to none. I had total confidence that this diesel pusher with the Freightliner chassi would be solid and reliable, and I was right, even though it was a 2003. As a diesel I was happy it was well broken in. I’ve used it to live in, travel coast to coast, and later as my office adding WiFi boosters and antennae. Just like any home, I have upgraded and maintained the quality with the improvements. It has been totally Comfortable throughout with lots of features I appreciated. The storage, large shower, ample kitchen area, heating and cooling, and living space was just right for moving from my 4000sq ft house into the motorhome. I am thankful for the Airstream high level or workmanship!

This camper was the first for my wife and me and neither of us were quite sure that we were going to like camping. When we bought it we did a lot work on the interior, i.e. painting, new floor, mostly cosmetic. We have enjoyed our trips in it, especially back to the east coast. In terms towing it, it is very aerodynamic and it is easy to back it into a parking spot at a campground. The reason that we are selling it is due to health issues.

Excellent craftmanship and materials, fit and finish also excellent, cat diesel has plenty of power, the stand out is the little features, generator start and stop switch next to bed as well as stereo controls, all aluminum frame for coach ( our newmar had a huge rust issue around cargo doors) frieghtliner chassis with cat diesel is a great combo, very well constructed exterior with full paint no decals. I would not trade my 2000 model for some of the junk they manufacture today and sell for $300,000 or more

We purchased the unit used 3 1/2 years ago. We spend 6 month’s in FL each winter and for my wife and I, it is very comfortable, great floor plan. The unit drives and handles extremely well. The CAT turbo diesel handles the mountains with ease even when towing our car and fully loaded. The workmanship on the unit is superb. The solid wood cabinets are holding up extremely well. We get lots of compliments when people visit. Airstream no longer makes the Class A and I find that the service center at Jackson Center is horrible, but that does not dispel our love for Gray Lady.

The Six speed Allison tranny coupled with the 350 CAT Diesel Engine causes this Coach to drive with only a Touch of the accelerator and steering wheel whether towing or not. No roadway “hunting” or braking effects.
The Air Ride suspension, cold Dash Air and heat makes for a comfortable trip for all aboard.
Setting up your campsite is a dream; initiate the
hydraulic levelers, plug into 30 or 50 Amp electric or flip on the 8KW Generator switch if you choose. Three thin line TV’s (2 inside 1 outside),
The CD Player or AM/ FM Radio are all available, the Leather covered Recliner w/ Otterman and Couch meet a nap need or use the Queen size Bed in the rear.
A new Hot Water Heater, both new Furnace Motors, both roof A/C’s produce Cold Air, new Water Pump, a Tall-Boy Commode round out the comfort list. Four new 6V Coach Batteries and a Full Basement makes for a comfortable week end Rally w/ Friends, National Rallies or staying in The Southern breezes in the Winter. A Full Body Paint, 4 new rear tires and 8K miles on the front should give the buyer years of low cost RVing. The price is right. There is no remaining overall warranty on this coach from the manufacturer.
