2022 Forest River Toy Haulers 5th Wheel reviews

Have run this unit for almost 2 years now. Have made several long trips and been in it for several weeks at a time with it. So, Pros first. Good overall interior lighting. Fridge is good size. A handy second fridge in front storage. Bathroom fan switch is on the wall. The bathroom fan vent (switch is also on the wall) is power open. Both items are a no brainer. A solid door to rear bunk area is way better than a curtain. Windows are a good size in most areas, the tint helps keep sun heat out on those hotter days. Cons: All vents on the roof (bathroom, bedroom) should come with covers. I could not believe they did not have covers. They had to be the first thing added. Exterior needs another receptacle (on a different circuit) closer to the rear of the unit. No one uses a coffee maker at the front. Should have better exterior lights around the entry. The exterior access for the garbage can is too small. Storage setup is a huge waste of space. To access water setup for winterizing, you have to take a wall apart? As in figure out which screws are needed to remove a wall. A lot of wasted space under this area. This needs a rethink. While it is obvious that the faster you manufacture one, the more money you make. Several electrical fixtures were loose, the first time I plugged the unit in, it would not charge the batteries. By a fluke I found a loose connection under the interior steps. The entire electrical system needs better attention to quality. My fireplace was pushing out in one corner, I took it out and found so much excess wire behind it. I cut out about 4 - 6 feet from most of the wires. What a waste. Now to enter the unit, the four step solid steps are too heavy for smaller people to lift, they should have the easy step. It needs a better kitchen table and seating setup. The seats had drop down flaps to under seat storage that was useless and not accessible. I made slide out drawers to be useable. It needs another useable receptacle in the kitchen area. Why is a receptacle behind the garbage access? The TV is mounted on a chase just inside the main entry, it was so poorly installed that most of it came apart after one trip. I had to take it entirely apart and rebuild it to be secure. However this was simply part of the entire interior trim that was so poorly installed and many areas just not finished . I spent 8 hours just repairing or securing interior finishes. Overhead doors should come with a hold open hinge. The rear bunk area should have an operable window. The bathroom door is installed in a way that makes it awkward to get in to the room. The master bedroom needs more footroom around it. The bedroom closet slideout needs to be deeper. The heating vent design make the master bedroom and bathroom extremely warm, the lower areas are still subzero. Overall, the layout needs a bit more planning. We traveled full time for 6 months twice around the country. It was the perfect rig for me. I am 69 years old with a bad back. The hydraulic leveling worked great also had the large plastic pads so I didn't have to put out boards or plastic pads. Electric cord is on a powered winch so no heavy lifting. Connect water and drain and you are relaxing in 10 minutes. Turn on the roof top satellite dish that automatically finds a satellite. Pull a bottle of wine out of the wine cooler hit the fireplace on and turn on some tunes or the game. This unit has 3 ac's with duct that are quiet, a dishwasher, full fridge, 4 burner stove with a oven that you can cook a turkey in. It has a metal frame walls which are more sturdier than the wood. We bought this RV used. The previous owner says he only used it about 8 times in 3 years, which we thought was good... WRONG! He didn't use it enough to find all the problems and ensure they were fixed. So far, generator wouldn't start. Probably from not being used, but we did a ton of research and found many places saying this brand was junk. Air conditioner in the main living area and thermostat for it don't work. It will say it's 57 degrees in there, but felt more like 80. Did a ton of research and found the engineer design put the temperature sensor up in the condenser so it reads cold all the time. Took a shower and ended up with a huge pool of water on the bathroom floor. Realized they didn't bother to seal anything between the chintzy plastic walls and the shower base. There is a leak somewhere in the main room. We haven't yet determined if it's from the air conditioner or slide. The siding that wraps under the 5th wheel is peeling away, with the screws pulled out. The fridge doesn't keep food at safe temperature. Anything against the back will freeze, anything in the front will spoil. The back entry door doesn't latch properly. The overall layout and design is horrible... the RV is so tall, and has MoRyde 4 steps to get in, but they used a tiny 10 inch reach fold away handle up by the door knob. The hallway going up to the master bedroom is very narrow. The steps for the back bunk don't reach the floor, so they're not very steady or sturdy. Storage is almost non-existent, and what is there inside is high up so we have to keep a step stool in there. Outside is a teeny tiny door on the pass through, not nearly big enough to throw a chair in. We are hoping the transfer of the extended warranty the previous owner purchased comes through soon so we can get some of this taken care of. My parents had a Forest River Work n Play toy hauler that was garbage also, so I should have known better. Next time we'll spend a little more for something other than Forest River that hopefully doesn't have as many issues. My advice is STAY AWAY!!! Show less

This is an absolutely beautiful 5th wheel. Tons of space. easy to heat and cool. Amazing floorplan with a huge loft. Three TV's ,great refrigerator with a wine cooler. Sleeps everyone comfortably. Slide toppers added to all five slides . Retractable Huge tv and gorgeous fireplace in front living room with comfortable couches and recliners. Outside lightening and huge awning make outdoor time special as well. I would recommend this dream RV to everyone. Show less

This camper worked for our family of 3 wonderfully. We drove across the country from Washington to Alabama, used it for hunting season in a snowy Montana and have gone to the beach in Florida multiple times. Those memories have been priceless. I cannot recommend this toy hauler enough! Show less

We bought new from dealer about 200 miles from our house, big mistake. Terrible to get anything done. Between the lying from the dealer and the poor workmanship of the dealer it was bad enough that we did the small stuff ourselves. As for the trailer it’s self, we love it. The biggest problem we have with it and the factory said it’s the way it’s supposed to be is, it is the worst insulated trailer that we have ever owned. Factory build sheet says R38 in the floor and ceiling. We had to remove some of the underbelly, to our surprise the insulation is no more than 1 1/2" thick in places and was missing about 2ft all together. Started looking at the rest of the coach, no wonder we can’t stay warm. Factory said out of warranty don’t care. Called the factory, was told this straight from the horses mouth. Based off my production manager's and what he stated, the correct insulation is installed. R-7 is used in the floor, based off what he stated. There can be different thickness measurements. We bought the fifth wheel from Camping World in Tampa. It was a three-hour drive to the park. The kitchen slider would not extend. The nut for the rod was off. After opening by hand I was ready to go. Hooked to water up and every fitting was leaking. Camping World said make an appointment to make repairs. They would send a Tech. but I would have to pay for the Tech to come out. I made the repairs myself. I would think twice before dealing with either company. Show less

It was built during the pandemic, so everything that could go wrong did. 3 of the 5 slides were bad, the refrigerator doors wouldn't open all the way, the custom Morryde independent suspension was installed incorrectly and almost caused a catastrophic failure, (I'm still dealing with the problem now 2.5 years later) awnings installed wrong, shower walls delaminated, tank sensors replaced and still don't work, etc. The manuals and other would be helpful paperwork was virtually worthless. I asked for a schematic of the plumbing and the manufacturer stated they don't have one. The electrical system Is designed to work as the coach is delivered so if you want to install a good solar unit it's very difficult. Riverstone doesn't offer a good solar unit. As an example of the warranty service... When I discovered that the refrigerator doors would not open all the way because the cabinet was blocking them the response from the dealer was, "WELL THAT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY" Now for the good news. Recently I ran into a couple that had a 2024 Riverstone Legacy and they stated that they had the coach for about 4 months and NOTHING was wrong. They have been living in it and found everything worked as it should. Therefore, I put my nightmare experience down to Covid. Show less

Love the floor plan. Couples coach. Great outdoor kitchen. Quality is good. Floor plan is very unique and price point is affordable. Things I would like to see improved. Plumbing- lot of tubing with pex clamps Shower- would like to see full fiberglass unit. Forest River in the newer models have made improvements and made great upgrades. • Opened up rear underbelly of coach for additional storage that was hidden in 2021/2022 models. • Open stairs Overall we are happy with the 36fl and would buy another 36FL without hesitation.
