2021 Grand Design Imagine XLS Travel Trailer reviews

Bought this GD 17 MKE after much searching and was very excited when I received possession. My wife and I took a few local trips and was very pleased with the unit until the slide out quit working, it was still under warranty so the dealer replaced both motors, so I thought, no big deal, things happen. Then we decided to make a longer trip from Kentucky to California, about half way there the refrigerator quit working and we had to buy a cooler until we got there where we were able to get it running but we had to bypass some electrical issues but at least it worked temporarily. Then the hot water heated stopped working and is still not working, I replaced the circuit board and it failed too. This means no hot water for showers, doing dishes and other necessities , si it’s still not working. Finally, on our last trip the electric awning quit working, I checked the power and it’s getting power to the motor so I’m pretty sure it’s the motor that’s bad. Since the unit is no longer under warranty, I guess I’m just stuck with it, the dealership says they can fix it but nothing is covered by the warranty. How about it Grand Design, what can I do? Mike husband and I absolutely loved everything about our Grand Design Imagine Travel Trailer. It was the perfect balance of big enough for all of our needs and comforts and small enough to pull with our Durango and to fit at every campsite. The features and quality are top of the line. We retired and decided to purchase this new in June 2020. We wanted a cozy home on the road that our Yukon could pull easily. Both of us have loved and cared for this trailer and we’ve had no major issues along the way. The tires were upgraded to Goodyears and we added a few other options along the way. We’ve traveled from Texas to the Great Lakes to Florida, and have truly loved our glamping experiences. Across 17 states, we’ve been sightseeing, hiking, kayaking, fishing, dining, cycling, winetasting and relaxing by the campfire. We sold only to move up to a 5th Wheel for longer stays out west. Grand design costumer support is useless. I would rate them a 0 if I could. I've had nothing but issues with my rv since the get go. I do not recommend anyone buy from this company. My rv is not even 2 yrs old and they tell me I'm out of warranty which I understand. The thing that bugs me is that my sump pump under my sink completely stopped working and they basically told me I was out of warranty and there was nothing they could do. I told the lady that me and her both know that something like that shouldn't brake that quick. She was rude and no help to me. Save your self heartache and buy another brand. Show less

The customer service from the manufacturer of Grand Design and the service by Campers Inn of Tucker, Ga is nonexistent! We have had several issues since the purchase of our trailer last January. Now to address a simple repair we are asked to leave our camper with them for weeks to have a part looked at for service. They will then contact the manufacturer to see about a solution. The first issue was a manufacturer’s defect which finally was patched up but not fixed appropriately. What a huge disappointment as we like the trailer . I cannot recommend anyone purchase from this manufacturer or dealership. Show less

We searched every available RV for comfort and the simple ease of livability and the 17MKE is the best of all the others for a retired couple. The amount of counter space sold my wife, and the size of the shower sold me since I am 6’4”. We had to wait a long time for ours to come in, but it was worth the wait. Show less

We purchased our grand design imagine at Colton RV in Hamburg, New York. Got home and the refrigerator does not work, we find a crack on the kitchen counter, and a large gap in the corner wall be the bed. Colton RV will not return our phone calls. We called Grand Design and after being on hold for over an hour we talked to Stephanie, she gave us permission to go to an unauthorized dealer to get it fixed. We need a new refrigerator, the one in there is not repairable. Local dealership emailed Stephanie what the problem with the refrigerator is. Called Stephanie 2 days later she said she will get a refrigerator ordered but they may be on backorder, she will email us the next day. 2 days later we call again, on hold for over an hour again to find out she is off today. Of course it’s Friday. We are supposed to leave for a three week vacation with our camper in 12 days. We are on hold right now trying to find out from someone other than Stephanie if a refrigerator has been ordered or not. Very poor customer service so far. It has been 6 phone calls to Colton RV within the past week and no return phone calls back. We will be checking to see if there is a lemon law with an RV like there is with automobiles. Show less

This is my 3rd trailer and is easily the best built, best laid out and most user friendly of the three. It is the perfect couples trailer and feels huge inside. It tows perfectly and is just really sexy. I would highly recommend this trailer to anyone looking the perfect couples trailer you can fit in your driveway and tow with a small pick-up truck or mid size suv. Show less

We love this floor plan and the storage space this RV provides. The bathroom is also a very comfortable bathroom with plenty of room in the shower. All around great RV. Very comfortable. Sleeps up to 7 people and if you don’t have kids to use the bunks it is an excellent place for extra storage. Show less

Everything about the Imagine XLS 22RBE is perfect, except the dinette pulls out on the front side where the awning and precious camp space are. Are there any plans to revise and flip the dinette with the kitchen galley (except fridge) in future models? The pullout on the front side is a major deal-breaker. Show less
