2020 Thor Motor Coach Freedom Elite Class C reviews

My wife and I researched motorhomes for about 2 years before we settled on the 24FE. Overall its a great machine, perfect for two adults and the occasional grandchild. We especially like the floor plan. Has room to move around in, pretty good storage capacity, usable bathroom and shower, love the slide out queen size bed. Installed a second tv in the bedroom area so both tv's are tied into a central entertainment area over the entry door. Drives great and its a length my wife feels comfortable driving. Mileage is 10 miles per gallon as expected. Haven't towed anything yet but the hitch setup looks capable of towing most things. For the money it's a loaded machine. Last camping trip I took I woke up floating on my air mattress....no more of that nonsense. Comes solar prepped so I'm installing a solar panel next. Fuse panel is in a low position on the side of the bed but accessible. Highly recommend the Freedom Elite. Show less

After extensively shopping cheaper brands, we are SO happy to have chosen Thor. They have backed up their product in both warranty and in customer service. The 22 FE is especially easy to drive, yet has room for my family to enjoy. The deal maker for us was the slide out bedroom with the queen sized bed. All the other motorhomes squished the queen bed into a corner so that you had to climb over your sleeping partner to enter/exit the bed. This RV has a "walk around" where you can feel the extra room. We bought a new 2020, and have had it just about one year. Overall I like the unit and the price. However, the defects were, as others have said, numerous: Battery with bad cell-reluctantly replaced Wrong-sized breaker on a major circuit (recall item) Leaking connections in hoses to fresh water tank Crimp in propane line to heater...stopped working soon after purchase, got fixed Charging circuit incorrectly wired so that engine alternator would not charge house batteries Electric awning motor connected with an SAE plug in a location difficult to access. Connector pulled loose and we had a struggle to get fingers on it to reconnect. Front end was not properly aligned...caster was not correct for an RV to handle properly, although this was presumably Ford's problem, and it was within or close to Ford's specs, which are too wide for a properly handling heavy, bulky RV. We also added trac bars front and rear and a heavy duty steering stabilizer, which make it a better driver. Overall we like the layout and features of the unit, and gradually are working out all the bugs. But, it's annoying to have to do that. Show less

I have had this RV since new, drive to to charge batteries, has never been camped in, 2700 miles (yes 2700). All is new, never used at all. Drives great, right size for a couple and retired folks. Have extras to go with it also . Show less

Overall quality is poor. I've had issues with the slides, cabinets and radio. For the price range the chassis is on the low end as well only has one lighter adapter and lacks power mirrors. It does Drive good has good power and tows good as well. I would not recommend this unit do anybody for the price range. I have contacted the factory Representatives on a couple of occasions they are super professional and helpful. But still would not recommend this unit. Show less

I researched options for 2 years. Rented RV’s, looked at options ranging from pop ups, van conversions, class A’s large and small, and class C’s. In 2019 at the Denver RV show we found a deal on a new Class C, 24’ that fit our needs (and budget). I’m glad I didn’t pass it up. We have no interest in living full time in any RV, regardless of size, full time. I got my RV to explore / camp, be comfortable, off the ground dry, warm or cool, and to have some comforts of home while “camping”. We’ve had the RV for 2 years and haven’t had any problems. The Ford E350 with the Triton V10 is awesome. We live in the Rocky Mountain area so we drive in the mountains often. For the 2 of us and 2 dogs (large) it has worked out perfect for what we bought it for - to have fun. Show less

I just wanted to say that I read all the Reviews for the THOR FREEDOM ELITE 30FE and I am so glad that the buyers of this camper were so honest and forthcoming. The truth prevented me from making a costly purchasing mistake. Based on what I read, I will not be buying any Thor products if they don't care themselves about quality and customer satisfaction. How do they stay in business??! Show less

LOVE this RV. My wife wanted a motor home that was east to operate, had great living space, nice kitchen, comfortable bed and a usable bathroom. An eclectic awning was a must as well. We enjoy the evenings on our "front porch". The 24 HE more than delivers. We are thrilled with this motorhome. It has lots of storage, ample headroom, sleeps 6 comfortably and even has automatic leveling. It is well ventilated and the creature comforts all over this RV makes you wish you never had to go back home. Dream to operate. Even my wife, who is a pretty petite woman enjoys driving this RV. I can't say that about some other models . . . This is a perfect RV for a family or just a couple who wants to enjoy the great outdoors while being pampered with the great indoors. 4 trips and every one cut short for a Catastrophic failure. Spent more time being towed for repair than driven. Shower leak twice. Refrigerator coolant pipe burst. Wouldn’t start after stopping in NM leaving us stranded in the middle of nowhere. Worse of all it has a tendency to Stall on us when making a sharp turn. Show less

finding things like broken drawer, trim falling off inside , had to glue it , had to replace drawer latch ,i decided to replace the rear tail lamps with led , really glad i did , i found both rear tail lamps did not have the gasket on correctly and rain was seeping in around both lights , also they used 4 different screws on the lamps , 6 were stripped out , i replaced with all stainless screws , every where you open a concealed area , i found sawdust and wood chipping , where is the quality control during the building of this unit , its like they threw it together , never will buy a thor again after this Show less
