We purchased our 2019 Sandpiper 379FLOK in August of 2018. At first we loved the floor plan and the hydraulic leveling system. When the dealer tried to show how the hydraulic system worked, it overloaded and threw the breaker. When we picked it up in August of 2018 we only had a few items that needed attended. The doors on the bathroom and pantry were already peeling the edges and the slide room floors on the outside showed scrapes where the rollers were bringing them in and out, these were noted on the sales papers and we gave the dealer 1 week to repair. Nothing had been done when we took possession of the unit. We packed it up and started out for Texas from Bartow Florida. That evening, first travel day, the landing legs would not extend and we could not get it off the tow vehicle. That caused a 5 day stay in Tallahassee, FL while their trained staff of mechanics tried to figure it out. We arrived in Texas 9 days after starting out. Setting up we noticed the bedroom slide wouldn't come out all the way to seal the room. 10 days later, the heater stopped working and the closest Camping World was over 70 miles away. Called them for mobile repairs, they didn't offer any. Next month the awning went out, coming back in it bent the awning arms because the fabric rolled up crooked on the tube. Then the recliners (2) stopped working, no heat or massage. Then the converter failed, no 12 volt system, no lights or computer to operate the rest of the RV. The toilet water supply valve sprang a leak, the bathroom fan stopped working cause the blade cracked and fell off the spindle. Then the black tank fell out of the frame, causing a bulge in the belly covering. When it leaked out the sides, thats when we knew something was wrong. After getting a couple of people to help remount the black tank inside the frame, we called warranty again, no mobile service available. Then the Fireplace stopped putting out heat, the microwave inside just stopped working. Tried different electrical recepticals, no luck. The thermostat stopped working, no a/c or heat. The outside kitchen faucet would not turn off, causing immediate replacement by us. The front landing legs started leaking down the legs, the bedroom slide cylinder was leaking on the ground. We were adding 3 quarts of fluid to the system every month, it was going somewhere. Now the hot water heater has a weld crack at the combustion chamber and extended warranty wants us to wait till they can send out an inspector in 4-5 days. This was our 4th purchase of 5th wheel RV, most disappointed with Forest River for lack of quality control.

PROS: awesome TV viewing set up, awesome kitchen island, can Watch TV while I am doing dishes and cooking, rv is perfect for 2 pppl, spacious without being too gigantic, the heater and AC work wonderfully, love the food pantry, stove works great, the fireplace is able to heat entire camper, hi def tv is awesome, i looooove the storage behind TV and i loooooove its in a corner of the slide, overhead lighting all work great and keep rv brightly lit at night, love the pretty kitchen table set up like in a real home as opposed to a dinette, the theater sofa is sooooooo comfie and i can easily fall asleep on it and do! Love how both sofas face the TV as opposed to having to turn sideways to watch TV, bathroom set up is nice; bedroom closet is great, bedside tables are great, nice big mirror on the closet, mattress is super comfie, ample storage above bed and all over this RV! Love all the outside lighting options, LED lights outside too, nice living room ceiling fan. CONS: Dumb kitchen table the post holding it up prevents the 4 chairs from being pushed all the way in to save floor space, i dont like the pleated blinds they are very difficult to open and close i wish they were the rolling shade style, my unit doesnt have a catch to hold the main door all the way open - i must use a rope to keep it open when windy, i dont know what area of this rv is Zone 1 or Zone 2; so i can not set the campers heater correct, the bedroom gets overheated as a result- is that Zone 1? We HATED the dark brown wood finish in here. We painted everything bright white as the dark wood was making us depressed, dont like some windows only open a couple inches, freezer is too tiny, fridge is pretty small too, shower faucets are impossible to get to correct temperature and super slow/low pressure, lastly the microwave died on our first trip. We cant Speak about towing this RV because we don’t and we pay somebody to tow it for us back-and-forth to our annual campground we go to every year.

Ours was built in 2018, so before covid and the supply shortages. As for the warranty, longer is better. I think for the price point a 2-year warranty would be nice. However, most things that break are components and not a fault of Riverstone.

But the MANY issues the first 2 years from mistakes made in the factory are ridiculous, too many to list, from the wrong plumbing connections causing leaks, to the slides not being adjusted correctly causing damage. When trying to get this resolved with forest river, you'd have better luck at the dmv. You get what you pay for though. Tip for forest river, quality control on each unit coming out!

Like many others, my experience with a Sabre has been a rocky road. I think the 2019 model year was a bad one for Forest River/Sable. The first two years uncovered numerous issues, most small things that could be fixed myself, however, since the unit had to be in for major repairs, I let the service center do it all. The most major issues were: 1. Living room slide floor not installed properly leading to flor rot and screws pulling out. 2. Kitchen slide floor fell out under the residential fridge, caused by insufficient screws, and screws that were too short. Kitchen trim kept separating because of poor workmanship. 3. Living slide roof sagged because of warped boards. This caused a leak in the center of the slide. 4. Roof boards pieced together so areas were sagging (not good for snow load). Entire roof was removed and replaced. 5. Fresh water tank cracked and leaked. Needed to be replaced 6. Water leak under bathroom sink, causing water drip in pass through area. Required PEX replacement. As for the minor issues, well poor workmanship is all I can say. Lack of caulk, cabinet doors coming off, bathroom door warped and tough to close. Lack of attention to detail is a huge issue. Cost cutting in areas that cannot afford any shortcuts My recommendation to anyone buying...take your time to check everything on your walkthrough. Insist on testing the operation of EVERYTHING. Be picky, and demand things are fixed immediately, or get them on a list so they are reported BEFORE the warranty period ends. This is a big investment for many, so it is worth the time/effort to make sure it is right. Even after that, you will encounter issues, so be patient and work the system.

Let me start with all the negatives first and work to the positives. First DO NOT BUY FROM LEE'S RV in Ellington Ct. They lie, the owner lies and he is a coward he does not stand behind his promise! The camper went back five times for the same repairs with the same results water in the underbelly and the slide would not close all the way and a few more problems. Enough of them, the camper went back to the factory for repairs. The 2019 model year they cut too many corners and pushed them out at record pace with terrible reviews that followed. The stairs we had to adjust because the screen door would not close. I had to tighten down the fan and put new screws in the fan. Bathroom trim work was falling apart . The hoses for the outdoor sink broke the trim because it was getting stuck. Bad design on getting to the hot water by-pass to winterize and no markings for the cable or water tank. Could use a light in the area. The heat would never make it to the bunkhouse area. Been through three fireplaces so far. Yes we had loose plumbing but with all the rough roads that got travelled to get to the New England area I'm not surprised. We are buying new windows for the bedroom for better air circulation And a few more things. The Positive My friends nicknamed it the Taj (Taj Mahal) it is very spacious and comfortable. The double slide-out in the bunkhouse gives the kids plenty of room on a rainy day. We took out the table and put in a bench design. Open kitchen area, big fridge medium size stove good size sink and plenty of storage all over. Very spacious bathroom for a RV. Master bedroom is nice we took out the king mattress and put in a queen for more side space getting around the bed. The closet is ok needs more lights. washer and dryer hook-up. The TV's are ok. We are outside 85% of the time so it really doesn't matter to us. Outside is ok the down fall with the kitchen slide-out the awning is set up really high buying a screen drop to help with the shading. Plenty of space in the underbelly with good lighting . The outdoor kitchen is fine, small sink and fridge but it does the job plenty of cabinet space for all the outdoor needs. It is a very nice camper and it fits our needs. You have to remember its a house on wheels and things will loosen up. A little maintenance and patience is key. I never had a problem with the Sabre customer service they always returned my phone calls and were very helpful.
