We love our 297! It is extremely comfortable and spacious, from the multitude of large windows with the heated, massage recliners in the livingroom to the queen size traditional mattress in the bedroom. On cold mornings it is wonderful to make a cup of coffee or tea and sit in front of the fireplace as you plan out our day. Of course, if you prefer, you can just turn up the heat to feel warm and toasty throughout the unit. The kitchen has everything you need! Plenty of counterspace with a large sink with gooseneck faucet and sprayer is adequate for anything you want to wash or prep. We travel for weeks at a time and have adequate space in the refrigerator, freezer and cabinets for all of our meals. The indoor stove/oven and the outdoor propane stove are very convenient. The microwave/convection oven is fabulous for preparing quick meals. There are also a lot of electric outlets for any convenience appliances you use. The wood dining table and 4 separate chairs are very comfortable and can be used in the living room or outside when you have a lot of guests to seat. Both the table and two of the chairs have smaller spaces for storage. The bathroom is spacious and there is plenty of storage for towels, personal products and cleaners. The glass shower doors are easy to clean and make the space feel open. Sitting outside surrounded by nature under the awning watching sports or movies on the TV, or listening to music from the outdoor speakers with drinks in the small refrigerator just a couple feet away is incredibly relaxing. The basement passthrough holds a lot of equipment and is easy to access.

This RV is extremely comfortable and roomy. The amount of storage is incredible. The pantry and refrigerator / freezer allow you to pack food for long trips. Kitchen island adds so much space for food preparations and entertaining. The two outside awnings are sturdy and provide great shade. Good speakers and lighting. Take more toys and less clothes with the washer and dryer, skip the laundry mat! It really is like traveling in a 4 star hotel suite.

We enjoyed the 3 years we've owned our "Magic Carpet." We've been especially pleased with the spacious layout of two slides in the living area, and the queen-sized bed which we upgraded with a better mattress. The washer/dryer on board saves us lots of wasted time doing laundry! The large electric awning provides us many hours of outdoor enjoyment and protection from the weather, and the auto-dump rain feature meant we don't have to worry about the awning during the rain. We upgraded several things, including the 4-step Torklift Glowstep scissor steps. We added a wi-fi booster and a cell phone booster since we both worked occasionally while on trips. The wif-fi booster helped us stream movies from Netflix without buffering. Having the dealer convert the bedside hanging closets with removable/adjustable shelves helped increase our storage considerably (who needs hanging clothes on vacation <g>). We also had the dealer make a pass-through from the bed to the closet for my CPAP machine and had a "headknocker" factory shelf above the bed converted to two side shelves so we could read in bed. The fridge/freezer is large enough that we buy groceries for a week, and let us bring back loads of delicious Georgia peaches from a local fruit stand, and meat from an outstanding meat market we found in Blairsville GA. Although we seldom use the outdoor tv, stove and fridge, they were nice to have when we did want them. The AC is so good we usually run only one AC in the bedroom, and it cooled the living area in weather up into the 80s without a problem. The large shower is a real pleasure. It's large enough for comfortable showers. And our hot water never failed to give long showers without having to resort to "navy" showers. We just turn on the AC and the Propane to get continuous showers up to 10 minutes! We tow with a Ford 250 pickup and experienced no problems towing through any terrain. The RV brakes function well and the Equalizer weight distribution system maintains excellent roadability.

JUNK! A multitude of problems ranging from poor quality manufacture (black water tank put in uneven so you could never get the sewage out) and it had an increasingly a horrible smell. It is not a 4 season trailer, the water lines froze at just under freezing and ruptured, unfortunately no dealer or repair service can help for a month. Frame is to light to support length. Thermostat is installed right over the furnace so it will not operate properly because the wall it is on stays hot. Finish on cabinets is so thin it wears off immediately. Single pane windows on a 4 season RV? not hardley!

This trailer has been a problem from day 1. We purchased It in September 2018, took it out for a 1 week shake down where the hot water tank quit, the gas refrigerator quit and the front door continued to jamb. It was brought back for winter storage and repairs. April 2019 it was brought to an RV park where it stayed. Door still misaligned and the bedroom cupboard drawer bottoms fell out. The cabinet drawers are stapled In. Very cheap.September 2019 time to close up for the winter. The dinning slide would not close, it came in on an angle and jammed tight. Not covered by warranty or the extended warranty. The floor in this slide also fell out. It was taken to a repair facility and they advised that the rails were installed wrong. They were installed on enough of an angle to cause the jamming. Nice high bill. May 2020 opened up and we noticed the lamination on the cabinet stills were starting to bubble up. The doors are solid wood but the framing is cheap particle board. The next issue was the electrical boxes. When unplugging small appliances, the entire box came out of the cabinet. There were 2 recalls but they should have recalled the entire unit. We were misled on their statement of quality. We got rid of this lemon and purchased a different brand trailer. Stay away from Grand Design and save major headaches.

Not recommended. I have been very disappointed my less than a year old not used RV has a refrigerator that won't cool to safe temp. I've called a dozen times & all I get is rude persons who tell me to call the refrigerator maker who repeatedly says GD knows it won't cool in a unvented slide, so still under warranty factory & extended we paid extra for here we sit.. worried about fire.. food in a cooler.. to top it off we haven't found a tech that will work with GD or Demetic.. this RV was way over priced & under quality with screws falling out of shower door, trim falling, paint fading.. & it's never even been moved. GD blames Dometic..Dometic blames GD.. both sleep & we pray it doesn't catch on fire.. we do what's been recommended by GD & Dometic (put ice in it, run box fan on in, keep cover off..) Great solutions to try & avoid warranty.. TY.

We bought our unit in April 2019 with the intention to live in it after we sold our house and waiting to build our new house. We were sold by the layout but ran into a lot of problems since. The front leveling jacks folded up on us the second time we used them, the fridge door wouldn't close properly, Drawer and door catches falling off, heated theatre seat not working, not so 4 seasons with pipe freezing, and a number of leaks with the connections in the Nautilus unit. The actual quality of the finishing is also quite suspect as there were staples and screw ends sticking out in a number of places. Its too bad they didn't spend more time building the trailer than designing it. The warranty has been working and I am on first name bases with the travelling RV mechanic.
